Interview day was fun and very interesting. The faculty are incredibly transparent and thrilled to meet you. The dean sat with us for a solid 30 minutes and answered questions and several other administrators were there as well to answer any type of question you could have.
This school emphasizes research very heavily (supposedly). I say supposedly because we have no concrete evidence from say prior classes but the dean especially mentioned his passion in making this school research focused.
Also I found the MMIs very enjoyable and low stress.
They said expect to hear back January 1st.
Mine varied. Most were a good bit shorter than the max length, one was right there. But I focused on letting my answers come naturally and didn't really worry about filling spaceFor those of you with interviews, how long were your essays?
Idk about that PBL though! I heard even students at top 10 are complaining about how ridiculous it is, especially with the amount of reading materials. New school+PBL?Let me weigh in post interview as well. So, as @footballa said, the Deans sat with us and answered quite a few questions. And, as mentioned the vision is a very research based program, with a required research project to graduate. (Some people will like that, others not...I mean if you want to do family med then 50+k tuition and a research project is probably a serious turnoff) here's a lot that hasn't been nailed down, but they focused a lot on the PBL curriculum, and they have done a good job nailing down firm commitments for clerkship sites. All the faculty seemed nice, and most were genuine. My impression of the mmi was that it wasn't too bad...as the first group there ever I had seveal stations where the interviewer rushed and seemed more in a hurry to get to printed questions than to interact with me. But, maybe they chilled a little by the time they got to footballa?
Campus is beautiful, the tour was nice, although it was a long interview day overall.
We get an initial admissions decision by Jan 1st at the latest. As to what they are looking for....it's hard to say. The first day was packed with in-state for a private school. It seemed a majority I talked to had done research. A proportion had some professional clinical experience as well (if @footballa is who I suspect, he is one of these). Full spectrum of stats with LizzyM scores seeming to be between 66- 73 (based obviously on a small sample size). For all those still waiting on an interview...they will continue interviewing on Fridays through at least January (and I suspect into February) so things look good if you did well on the secondary (I was told they evaluated that heavily to determine if you'd be a good fit). Well, gotta fly...hope that helped and good luck all!

I didn't see a place to mention a publication in the application, and I had one accepted recently-- I sent updates to other schools, but would it be inappropriate to send one to Nova since I submitted the secondary a week ago? I don't think they have any other way of knowing about my Pub....
The school is very pro active about it. They would help you find the scholarships but they said nothing about discounting the tuition but rather they would work on the scholarships for with you.Can anyone kindly answer as to whether scholarships were squared away? Research would, honestly, be awesome as a graduation requirement.
Hey, so I just had my interview on Friday. My LizzyM was a 67 with 3.6 GPA and 510 MCAT. As per service activities, I've volunteered in a local hospital for 130 or so hours, tutored elementary and middle school students for around the same amount of hours, organized a few charity tournaments with my student organization, and have volunteered for 10 or so hours for 2 years at a muscular dystrophy summer camp event. I would say I've done a wide variety of service experiences, but I think what counts is how you incorporate these experiences into the written aspects of your application and how you express them verbally in your interview rather than the sheer quantity of hours. For those of you who received II already, what are your stats and do you have a lot of service related activities? I noticed in their mission statement they mention altruism so i'm curious if those who received II already, have a lot of service.

Not anywhere else yet, but hopefully I'l get some more IIs soonHave you received interviews anywhere else? Good luck!

I'm hoping to receive an interview here. I have ~3,000 hours of service both medical and non-medical mainly with the underserved and uninsured populations... but haven't received an II yet this cycle. Good luck to everyone!
so based on MSAR for NOVA, it seems like they are going to take 50 students off the waitlist this cycle, and the date of earliest acceptances is December 14.
MSAR info doesn't mean a whole lot at this point. Until there's actually a cycle of data to reference, everything is just guesses. The 100-150 waitlist # is probably a fair estimate, but there's absolutely no way for them to know how many people they will take off the waitlist.
Two weeks does seem like a fair turnaround for acceptances the first interview group, though. Though an earlier poster said that decisions from that interview day will be sent out as late as January 1st.
If the three week period for telling an admission decision for an interview is up should I email them to see if they have my application, or ask for an update? Also has anyone gotten any interview decisions recently? Starting to get a little impatient
Not at all.is it too late to submit a primary? I just found out about this school.
tuition 54k since you are OOS, Cost of attendance for IS 72 - 74 KFor those who have interviewed, what's the scoop on financial stuff?
- What's tuition and projected cost of attendance?
- What scholarships are available? What percentage of students are expected to get scholarships? People have mentioned in previous posts that they'll help you get scholarships.... what does that mean??
- Will the inaugural class get financial help? If so, to what extent? Free tuition??

None are available for you as a ""founder student" but school will do anythign in their power to get you one
None of that was discussed, only thing that was said is that they will find scholarships for you, like you won't have to do anything.
Pretty much, but that was their first interview and I felt like we ran out of time thus they couldnt answer as many questions as they wanted about financial aid (because i had lots of them). So, i expect them to be better next time. I really like the area, thus wanted to get a sense of what that commitment would look like. So, the next interview group should POUND ON IT!So pretty much saying... we will look but no guarantees you'll get any scholarship and we won't lower the price for you if you don't? But come to our school that has no data on the success of their curriculum and pay the highest tuition in state... lol

But the positives are:
Heavily focused on improving health of local communities w/ empahsis on research that will make you a better scientist
They have the name
They have the ressources
They have the rotation sites
They have staff who would look over a million scholarships for us
And we will basically be GODs if admitted. Just imagine the priviledge of being the first class. (first everything dude)
But i tend to agree with you dude, I just hope we didnt run out of time during our interview.
Basically the next group has to get a clear cut answer about scholarship opportunities. Still, i would attend the school without the scholarships because NSU support network is insane! Mentors (clinical, research and academics!)
The grading system is divided in two:Is the curriculum pass/fail or letter grade? Also, did you ask about if being the inaugural class will have any impact on our residency choices?

No, i wouldnt i was just pointing out the positives, but i would take NSU over no school, or any other which doesnt share my vision of medicine (community/ patient centered medicine aka patient first medicine). You would attend NSU over cheaper, more established schools even without receiving any scholarships?
Also, did you say that IS tuition is higher than OOS? That's bizarre. Private schools typically have tuition at a set price for *all* students, regardless of residency.
January 1 rst or post christmas would be late.Too late to apply?

And no, i listed the tuition for OOS and the cost of attendance (tuition + all fees) for IS, because they didnt tell us what the cost of attendance would be for OOS. I ask Dean Prittchett the question and he gave me that range which i assumed was for IS student since 18 out of 20 attendees were IS.
When is it scheduled for?II just now! They scheduled it for the day of my final exams. Does anyone know if its rolling admissions? Should I try to reschedule my final exams or do you think I'm okay to reschedule the interview for Jan. 5th?

Congrats! They do allow you to reschedule as someone earlier mentioned. Would you mind sharing your GPA/mcat?II just now! They scheduled it for the day of my final exams.
