I can reschedule to Jan. 6th but I'm not sure if that would lessen my chances then since I'm pushing it back

There's probably gonna be a two week break in between those two dates because of the holiday so I don't think it's going to matter. They'll probably review both interview dates at the same time in January before releasing acceptances. I doubt you'll be in any way disadvantaged by picking 1/6.

Then again, someone earlier mentioned that those who interviewed in November would hear back before 2018. So idk LOL

I doubt it, if i am not wrong, i heard someone mentioned that they interviewed on the 3rd which was a Sunday. 2 week off is a bit much, i expect them to take 1 at the most.

For those who interviewed: are MMIs done with actors or are there interviewers waiting to hear your response to a situation or scenario? thanks

so you think I should try to make it to the dec. 15th one?

OMG you have to. Dont take this personally but i can't believe you asked. Like you serously have to, the sooner the better. The fact that you were offered an interview this early means that the school values you and likes your file. And remember most of us have the same story and they are potentially planning on sending their first acceptance on January 1. So if i were you, i would attend!

thank you! this helps a lot to put things in perspective. I appreciate your input

II today for December 15th! Primary submitted 10/28, secondary submitted 11/15, no complete email received. OOS, LizzyM 70-72.

I'm so excited!!!

Congrats!!! Looks like they're doing a second run-through applications since you submitted pretty quickly.

I'm glad they are. I figured I was out of the running with all the people who submitted more recently than me getting IIs.

Yeah, I submitted the week after you, so hoping they'll check mine out again as well! I'm sure they'll be re-reviewing a lot of apps to fill all their interview slots, though. I'd imagine the bulk of apps came in early, and that additional apps will trickle in slowly, but in much smaller mass.

Hey, so I just had my interview on Friday. My LizzyM was a 67 with 3.6 GPA and 510 MCAT. As per service activities, I've volunteered in a local hospital for 130 or so hours, tutored elementary and middle school students for around the same amount of hours, organized a few charity tournaments with my student organization, and have volunteered for 10 or so hours for 2 years at a muscular dystrophy summer camp event. I would say I've done a wide variety of service experiences, but I think what counts is how you incorporate these experiences into the written aspects of your application and how you express them verbally in your interview rather than the sheer quantity of hours.

Hey, congrats on interviewing! Are you IS?

For anyone who has already interviewed, I know that each mini interview lasts six minutes but was wondering how much time you have to read the prompt and whether you are permitted to take notes? Thank you!

We have 2 minutes to read the prompt but we weren' able to take notes. One of the deans said we didn't really need to take notes and he was right.

Do the interviewers ask you about your application? Or are they all scenarios?

So in the scenarios you would not include app info, but in traditional questions you can mention aspects of your application

So I'm guessing they either do silent rejections, or are going way past the three week decision mark they set

Idk. I wouldn't take that timeline too seriously with them being a new school. Fwiw, based on the recent wave of invites, it looks like they're going back through applicants. Some early submitters (like first 5 days after secondary was sent out) reported to have received IIs.

So they give you 2 min to read the prompt and 6 min to respond?
Also were they heavily emphasizing on ethical ( non-app related) questions or conventional interview questions?

Thanks

It was about a 50/50 split between traditional and ethical questions. Yes, 2 mins to read prompt and 6 to respond.

Anyone know how many more interviews they will be giving out?
They said they are gonna do interviews every week (except holidays and certain weeks that there are conflicts) for awhile. I think until like March at least.

For those of you who interviewed 12/1, do you think they will actually wait until Jan. 1 to give us their decisions? I feel like they are going to try to give out some acceptances before so they can start forming a class?

I feel the earliest we could hear back is next week since they wanted to have at least 2 more interview sessions after us.

Does anyone know how many interviews they’ll be handing out? I’m wondering what % of interviewees will receive an acceptance

They're interviewing 20 people every week for the forseeable future

I remember the guy telling us they are going to try and interview 400 people. He also said they are going to be stingy with initial acceptances and will probably send out more waitlist.

Well damn, that sucks. :depressed:

Did he mention approx. how many acceptances would be given out?

I don’t recall them saying. Im sure they have no idea at this point. I am going to take a guess and say 125.
oh really?? What happened to them only accepting 50 students...it would be great if they accepted 125, more chances for applicants

Their class is gonna be 50 students. There is an unbelievably low chance of their first 50 accepted students all matriculating, so they have to cast a wide net and waitlist a good # of students. Also, odds are that the majority of the initial 50 will end up with offers from more established schools, so I'm fairly certain that they'll end up having to accept over 100 students. Especially if they don't offer free tuition to the inaugural class.

I'd think it would be better to go to an established DO program than a brand new MD program, especially if there is no financial incentive. They'd never fill their class unless they do as you're saying, and accept a TON of students!!

Idk* about that, I mean all you have to do is read the DO vs MD thread. I myself wouldn' mind doing what you just advise because I am set on primary care but some people might have issues with that.

If someone was set on a competitive specialty, a new MD and an established DO school both would be poor options.

The school is not just a new MD school. It's a NSU MD school, it's like harvard coming with a new MD school or PCOM georgia.

Don't hold your breath. Been complete since 2nd week of November...still nothing

For those of you who interviewed, is there a place to store luggage during the interview day?

If no one has gotten back to you yet, I've spoken directly with admissions about this and they said they will have a place to store luggage. I think in the dean's office if I remember correctly but they'll lock it up she assured me.
