Oh! I didn’t know that! I wish whoever I spoke with on the phone had told me that...darn the waitlist game.

Does anyone know when the Admissions Tracker was last updated?
 
For anybody who submitted a LOI, did you just upload it to the portal or email it to admissions or both?

I just uploaded it to the portal, but I had some funky things happen with my portal before, so in addition I emailed admissions to ask if they received it and they confirmed.
 
So the admissions tracker was updated... hate this waitlisted feeling. Anyways does anybody have an idea of how many offers of admissions does Wayne usually offer ?
 
882 interviews completed, 349 offers. Does anyone have an idea how many students are on the waitlist from the 533 that were interviewed but not accepted? Assuming all 533 are on the waitlist and that another 150 offers are given (taking into account the decreased out of state tuition which will surely result in less students turning down the school), that would be a 28% acceptance chance. However, if the same amount of offers are made and some students have been rejected post interview, the percent could be much more favorable.

Also keep in mind that a lot of the students on the waitlist already have other offers so some will turn it down for that reason. Some people that were waitlisted also didn't have great interviews so if you think your interview went well, you may also have a leg up in that sense. It is far to early to give up hope on this school.

I thought my interviews went extremely well. Im not the type to be too positive and in fact I interviewed at Albany for example and thought it went horrible. But regardless, if tuition is a lot cheaper even those students holding multiple acceptances might lean more towards accepting Wayne.

Yeah, I'm sure some will, but even with my limited contact with those applying to medical school this cycle, I know of one person who interviewed here and got waitlisted, and I know for a fact that if they come off the waitlist they will turn it down. The schools they've been accepted to are just more in line with what they want out of their education and where they want to be geographically. My point is, your chances are much higher than you think (28%). Don't think to much about it, just believe me and stay hopeful 🙂

So I noticed on the housing page that it says "Roommate information is now an online document, must contact teady @med.wayne.edu for access". Has anyone done this? I haven't heard anything about it elsewhere...
 
Does any1 know how much the scholarships associated with the impromptu essay are worth? It looks like there are a ton of different scholarships and I'm trying to get a gauge on how much some of them give

So I have been recently accepted, but I have not received an invitation for the second look day even though I have multiple offers. Does anyone know anything about this?

Reach out to the admission's office asap, they seem to be more than accomdating. Btw, the other second look day, is April 23rd.
 
I am currently on the waitlist, do you guys think that sending in updates (specifically an extra letter of rec) will help at this point? or are we already ranked and basically just waiting for after april 30th?

I was just told by the office that LORs are only evaluated by your faculty interviewer before/when you interview and extra ones won't be read at this point.

So for wayne, are you automatically considered for scholarships or do you have to fill out applications? I know they don't match other scholarships. I have a LizzyM Score of 77, so I was curious to see if I am competitive enough to receive merit aid. Also, any insight onto when scholarships might be offered?
 
Does anyone know if this school is receptive to letters of intent? I've been accepted elsewhere so it's not a BS letter.
And do I upload it to the portal, email it to admissions, or to the dean of admissions himself?

1. Normally the admissions committee meets much less frequently after everyone has an official response. Acceptances may come here and there on Fridays mostly, but any large wave of acceptances will be after the May 1 deadline for students with multiple acceptances to pick a school.
2. There is no way of finding this out.
3. At this point in the game, probably very little unless you have some major accomplishments to update them on. Even then, there is no data or concrete evidence that update letters work. People in the past have even paid extra to mail in letters and require a signature on delivery to make sure admissions has to at least see the letter, albeit probably momentarily.
4. Meetings with the dean and/or interviewer to discuss med school applications during a current cycle are not allowed. You might be able to get a quick meeting with Dawn, but nobody in admissions can give you direct application information. They might say "your chances of getting in at this point are small or we have roughly X amount of spots left" but nothing more.

You just have to be patient and keep working/volunteering/researching to better yourself just in case. Also, keep in mind that not everyone accepted will post in here so don't drive yourself crazy over trying to count spots remaining etc.

You would upload that to the portal under the optional information for the committee section.

The committee has a meeting tomorrow and then meets every Thursday in May through the 24th. It's likely they would send out acceptances in the afternoon. (Sometimes "life happens" and for whatever reason it's delayed a day or so.)
 
Just called the admissions office to see if they would allow me to go to a second look day even with only one acceptance and got a no. Sort of interesting that they only invite those with multiple acceptances, especially if applicants hold several waitlist spots, any of which they may (or may not) eventually get accepted off of. This will definitely create a difficult choice if this happens to me, as I would very strongly consider several of my waitlisted schools... oh well 🙄
 
Has anyone on alternate/waitlist gotten a status change since the committee meeting yesterday? How will we be notified?

I called them in February and they told me March, so I called early April and was told "1-3 weeks." I think with the recent tuition decrease, they're taking longer than expected trying to get all the numbers together. In anycase, I would say end of the month.
 
I got an email from my undergrad university saying that the courtesy date to commit to a school/withdraw from other schools is April 20th. Do we think there will be a sizable amount of people who get off the waitlist this week?
