Anyone interviewing tomorrow?

Are the interviews blind or open? & does anyone know the post interview acceptance rate?

They are blind interviews as it pertains to MCAT and GPA. We talked about my personal experiences quite a bit during the interview. I enjoyed my interview a lot. It was pretty relaxed and very conversational.

I’m not sure on acceptance rate. Maybe one of the current students on here can shed some light.

The interview is theoretically blind but I still got a question about my GPA when I interviewed, so be ready just in case but it likely won’t happen.

As to post-I acceptance rate it’s pretty high. My year they interviewed like 200 and we have a class of 116, about 10 of those are bridge or MS students, so about 105/200 actually matriculated. I figure they probably gave out about 130ish acceptances out of the 200 interviews.

This means exactly nothing. The AMA has zero power to affect how PDs view COMLEX. It’s nothing more than a political lobbyist organization.

Possibly, but it’s a step in the right direction. Probably won’t affect any one in the next several years, but getting the education out there to PD’s on how to interupt COMLEX outcomes has the potential to benefit generations of D.O.s to come

The thing you are missing is that PDs don’t care to learn how to interpret it. Overall it doesn’t matter even if they interpret it correctly, because the testing pool taking it doesn’t include all their other applicants which take the USMLE. How someone compares to other DOs doesn’t matter to a PD of a traditionally ACGME program where most of the residents are MDs. It doesn’t tell them how that person compares to all the other applicants they get

Every physician knows how to look at percentile scores from standardized tests "teaching how to interpret" is almost belittling IMO.. The problem is the lack of standardization across different standardized tests (COMLEX vs USMLE). This is nothing but a feel good sentiment that will literally have no change on how things are done. The PDs that care about the difference will continue to do so, and those that don't already have their own formula for interpretation/selection of applicants and will continue to use it

Will someone remind me when the last interviews are conducted.

I still consider it a step in the right direction, at least until PD’s with their MD biases die off. However, I understand your skepticism of any positivity coming from it. On a similar note, what percentage of OSU students would you say take the USLME as well as the COMLEX?

Very few. Like maybe 20ish people as a rolling average.

Hi all! Does anyone know when wait list people will get pulled? I know the deadline for deposits is coming up for AACOMAS traffic rules right?

Hey everyone. I am an IS applicant to this school. I submitted my secondary the first week of November and was wondering if I should still keep hope about receiving an interview from the school, or start looking at back-up options? This is my first time applying, so I wasn't sure if this type of wait was normal for applicants, or if my stats/secondary didn't meet what the committee was looking for. My stats are on the lower end, 3.2-3.3 GPA and a 498 MCAT.

They interview until April or potentially even May. You applied late, and were complete only 4ish weeks ago. Time to be patient.

Did anyone else get the email from Julee Wells that said they had not applied yet??

Between now and about midway through orientation... Unfortunately it's only December so you have more than a few months where you need to be patient.

Received the notification for a completed application early September, but haven't heard anything since then. Anyone else in the same boat? Or received II invites after applying during summer time?

Hi everyone,
I interviewed at OSU- COM last Friday(December 14th) and I received an email today morning
saying that I was put on waitlist. Is it normal to be put on waitlist so quickly? Also what are my chances of getting called off the waitlist for admissions? Does anyone know what percentage of the waitlist is called for admission generally? I am a student from Oklahoma and this school was one of my first choices for medical schools

About 50% of the class come from the waitlist, with a class size of ~130. There’s stil plenty of time!

I just got called for an interview, and got it scheduled for 1/24! I was just wondering what kind of questions the interviewers ask?? Any tips on prepping for the interview?? Thanks!

when did you submit secondaries?

Good luck to those interviewing today!

Does anyone think it would be beneficial to attend the MedX event when waitlisted?

It’s mainly geared towards undergrad students, however if you haven’t been I’d recommend it! They keep track of who attends and it gives you great insight into some of the medical student life! They’ll show you human organs from cadavers, and show you some of the simulation lab

My friend is currently on the waitlist and I told her she should attend MedX! I think it will be a good way to help the admin team remember your face and know that you're wanting to come to their school. Plus, it doesn't do any harm to learn about cool things at MedX, especially the simulation rooms.

Does anyone know how many students have been accepted so far?

Has anyone been accepted in January yet? Trying to get a feel for when they start pulling off the waitlist.

hey I was wondering which track you choose and how you like it so far. I'm interested in the Global Health Track

Never heard of it. I probably wouldn't choose a track. Just go to regular med school and see where the cards fall for you. If you want to go to africa or something like that you don't have to be in a track, you just need a few grand. A sizable amount of people in my class did it.

Only time I would do a track is if its rural because your home town is where one of the rural sites is

Does anyone know why this year's thread has significantly less posts than last years thread?

on the secondary, they only give us 2 choices rural or Global health track they don't give us the choice to do a normal one .

Rural Medical Track:

The Rural Medical Track (RMT) is a comprehensive, rural-focused curriculum designed to train medical students interested in serving as primary care physicians in rural Oklahoma. RMT students complete clinical rotations predominantly in rural settings and have the opportunity to work side-by-side with rural physicians to learn the skills needed to lead a successful rural practice.

Are you interested in the Rural Medical Track?
Yes No

Global Health Track:

The Global Health Track provides medical students with exposure to international health experiences and cultures to prepare them for serving underserved populations both domestically and globally. Students in the Global Health Track will participate in at least three rotations outside of the United States.

How OOS-friendly is OSU? Does your class have ~25% OOS or less? Any OOSer from CA?

You can do both without entering the “track”.. global health will be expensive, but if it’s what you want then, cool. Rural track is good if you already know where you want to end up, but neither tracks have to have a commitment until spring of 2nd year. Don’t worry about it atm, unless it’s your primary end game.

FYI- you’ll be in some rural areas even if you do the normal track, so take that for what it’s worth to you.
