Is the alternate list a legit shot? They said 0-10 but how many are alternates?

According to MSAR the waitlist is ~50 people, but I've been wondering if/how the list size will change this year to accommodate the new traffic rules.

Hi guys! I’m a recent graduate/ current PGY 1. I’ve been around trying to answer questions since I was a first year to help prospective students. I’ll try to make myself available again this cycle but be patient since I’m starting my intern year.

Good luck this cycle!

Hi! I've recently been accepted to UACOM Phoenix and was wondering if you could help me out with some more info? I think it's my top choice!

1) are lectures mandatory? are they recorded?
2) average step 1 score?
3) are exams NBME or in-house? or both?

1. Majority of classes are optional. My estimate is 80/20 optional to mandatory. Lectures are recorded and are usually available online within 10 minutes of the lecture ending.
2. Not sure, but know that the school continually audits our blocks to make sure we're covering the material. I felt that the curriculum prepared me well.
3. Exams are in house and very fair in my opinion. We also have the personal choice of taking each exam on Friday OR Sunday. This is really nice to have the option in case there is a conflict or you need extra time to study.

thank you so much!

is anybody worried about the poor match rate? apparently from 2019 only 67/80 students matched = 83.7% match rate, which is far below the national average of 94% -- what factors contribute to this? this is concerning :/

“the Admissions Committee has provided guidance to the preference of offers to come from the Alternate list.”

Does anyone know what this mean or contacted admissions to find out?

It means that the ADCOM has basically ranked the alternate list saying who should receive offers first if a spot opens up.

Got it! Thank you. Are they willing to share that info with applicants? I was just confused because in the email it says right before that, that there is no rank-listing to share

I wouldn't be too worried about this. It's not a reflection of the amount of graduating 4th years that matched. That number is closer to 100%.

Really? Wait what is this # then? What does 67/80 represent? Thanks!

Anyone know when they will send the schedule for second look weekend?
Full schedule via the link they sent to register for second look day.

Edit: re-read your question...it was already sent out. Did you get the email to register for the day? The deadline has passed, but I’m sure you can call them.

I did get the email and I'm 99% sure I registered! Is the link to the schedule in the email where it says "you can register for second look weekend here"? When I click on that link it tells me to call the admissions office to register... maybe I never registered! I specifically remember answering the question about bringing someone to the second look weekend on the form though.
Ok perfect, go back to the site form the link and on the page click on the three lines in the top left corner to open the menu. That should give you links to look at the days. Hope that helps! It’s action packed!!

For those that opted in for the alternate list, there hasn’t been any correspondence since the initial WL email, right?

Will be withdrawing from the waitlist. Good luck everyone!

For this year's applicants and interviewees, did anyone face any trouble using a letter from a DO physician for the required clinical letter?
I had both an MD and DO letter but I doubt there would be any issue at all. This school had the best admissions team I interacted with

Second the admissions team. The entire staff of this school if kind and supportive. If you have concerns, I would not hesitate to call or e-mail.

From my POV. Keep the faith friend!

No recent movement?🙁

Not since May 7th 🙁 Plus the facebook group is at 97 members so the class is likely full with limited future WL movement.

Has there been any recent correspondence for those on the alternate list? They mentioned updating us periodically in the decision email and I'm starting to question whether my confirmation form for the alt list went through since I haven't heard anything..

Just got the call today! Accepted and going to Phoenix!

Here's to hoping more WL movement is on the horizon. Their CTE deadline is today :xf:
