Hi guys! I’m a recent graduate/ current PGY 1. I’ve been around trying to answer questions since I was a first year to help prospective students. I’ll try to make myself available again this cycle but be patient since I’m starting my intern year.

Good luck this cycle!

Hello, thank you for offering help when you are so busy!
A few things: 1.) It seems the mission statement and overall goal of the school is diversity, is this your impression?
2.) How were clinical rotations here? Did it provide you with great experience in prep for residency match?

1) I think it is. We had such a diverse class in terms of places lived, race, ethnicity, life experience etc. We had people who were from the US and those who were born outside of the US. We had people who had come straight from college, people who took a gap year or two, and people for whom medicine was a second career. It made for a great learning experience.

2) I really enjoyed my clinical rotations. You learn clinical skills really early (from year one) and our doctoring class really prepared me for my rotations. I was definitely very well prepared as a new 3rd year student in comparison to those who were from other schools. I owe that to my doctoring class.

OOS, received a secondary invitation. Apparently there will be another email coming with the actual secondary login information.

When did you receive the actual secondary? bc I just got an email stating that I was invited to complete the secondary but it doesn't actually have the secondary link or attachment lol

I was about to ask- who received a secondary invite, but no secondary lol? Hopefully we don't have to wait too long for the next email.

RIP my prewrites (either I looked at the wrong year or school or they changed a lot)

When did the applicant portal email arrive for you? I still haven't received it. I can't find anything in junk either

Glad I did not completely pre-write this one. 😱

Sorry, forgot to elaborate on that. Yes, it appears to be a 1000 character limit including spaces. I also received the portal invite 1 hour after the initial invitation.

Thanks! I just received 6 duplicate emails with the link lol I think they are sorting out some kinks

For the class requirements, are you sticking to just adding the credits asked, or for the biology category are you adding all of your biology classes. Same for the other categories.

I'm sticking to the number they asked for!

Anyone else who got the secondary invite email but not the email with the link to the portal and log-on info? I'm still waiting, and it's not in any of my junk boxes on my email....

@ltownson +1. I still haven't gotten it yet; have you?
I did! It took several days, though. I got about four duplicate emails from them with the link in the middle of the night. If it's been longer than a week, I would email them and ask since you only have 30 days from the date that you received the first email to complete the secondary.

Secondary received.
Edit: Wow, this is the most professional website for a secondary I have seen!

Thank you so much, that is very helpful. Would you consider my experience as a lifelong competitive athlete and former NCAA athlete an experience which could add value to the diversity of the class? I am not racially or ethnically diverse, so I am struggling to convey how I will add diversity.

There are many different ways to add to diversity such as life experience. I'd encourage you to read what @HopefulPilot read to help you with the prompt.

Did anyone receive a confirmation email after submitting their secondary? I submitted at an odd hour and did not receive a payment receipt email or secondary received confirmation email.

Anybody have ideas on the inclusive excellence question? I was thinking about learning a language when abroad to connect with people but not sure of that would answer the question.

I do not think saying what you will do would help in this case because it wants to know what you have already done. Maybe go back in your ECs or any time you might have had a friend of a different culture that you tried to interact with and get to know more about. Of course though I am also just applying so take what I say with a grain of salt! Best of luck to you!

Thanks for your feedback! That was an experience from my EC I had to learn to speak Spanish so that I could gather information I needed from patients. I’m just not sure if that counts as learning about a culture or group of people.

Ohhh okay! Sorry I misunderstood your question! Yes I’d put that then because I did as a way to communicate with other individuals so I think it’s 100% legit

is it the email that is from amcasliason that says password change requested? I got it about 1 minute after I entered my email to recieve the link but I never got anything specifically from UoA

In the required coursework/prerequisites tab, should I fill in EVERY course I have taken that fulfills each requirement, e.g., all six chemistry courses, or just one of the six? Same for the rest of the sections, ALL humanities courses that fulfill the prerequisite or just one example? The system allows you to select an unlimited number.
I just did what they ask.

Can someone please correct me if I'm wrong. UA Phoenix only gives you the month of February to study for Step 1 and no break afterward?
