Prior to this wave of secondaries, have the secondaries been more sporadic/scattered? or have previous secondaries been coming in waves as well?
IS verified around the same time and haven't heard from them neither. Getting very nervousUgh. Verified 8/13 and still haven't received a secondary. Davis is my first choice but a long shot. My stats and demonstrated interest in primary care are good but I am OOS. Feeling less and less optimistic...
Davis screens out applicants and is mission-based school. They would not have sent out this batch of secondarys if they were not considering us. For perspective I know a few high stat applicants who have yet to get this secondary. You will never know if you don't try!Got a secondary early this morning. LM 65, lots of volunteering, clinical and research work, strong PS and LORs.... only thing holding me back are my low GPA and low MCAT (3.43 and 508).... I’m wondering if its even worth applying since its pretty late in the cycle. Davis is definitely my #1 choice, but I’m trying to be realistic and am doubting having any real shot due to my low stats
It includes basic, translational, and clinical research. There is collaboration with the Clinical and Translational Science Center (CTSC), so there are a lot of opportunities in both wet labs and in clinical settings, from what I understand. You'll have the option to to participate any interest group that you wish (e.g, heme-onc, pulmonary, peds, etc.).For any current students or anyone that knows the answer, is the academic research scholarly pathway limited to "wet lab" research or can we do more community based research?
Do you guys think not picking any of the pathways will put me at a disadvantage? I am interested in primary care but I do not want to commit to anything yet without experiencing other fields.
I'm skeptical of that. When I spoke with the director of a pathway, I was told that they cannot do anything until admissions make their decision. These pathways have no effect on admissions, per our conversation.I have heard from a current student on my interview day that should you be waitlisted to the normal MD, and you get selected for a pathways program that can push you through to an acceptance. Pathways is only a skype interview I was told.
Coming directly from the director, I will take your word for itI'm skeptical of that. When I spoke with the director of a pathway, I was told that they cannot do anything until admissions make their decision. These pathways have no effect on admissions, per our conversation.
I would try to find something and that's not necessarily true for the second part. I had nothing indicating my connection to Norcal on my primary but actually have siblings/family up there. I would just try to fill out as much as you canJust received the secondary after months.
Do you guys think leaving the first essay blank is a bad idea?
I don't have anything I want to bring up, as I feel like it would just sound like excuses, and I feel like 500 characters is super short regardless.
I dont have ties to norcal but I guess their meticulous screening means that they are already aware of this?
I think you could frame it in a way in which you are not making it seem like you are making excuses but are stating that you have grown from that experience and learned more about your study habits or something after your scoreI just don’t know what I would write ?
Would it be bad to write about why one of my section scores is low ?
I just don’t want it to sound like I’m making excuses or possibly hurt my chances

Thanks, thats what I ended up doing.I think you could frame it in a way in which you are not making it seem like you are making excuses but are stating that you have grown from that experience and learned more about your study habits or something after your score
Anyone get an interview without choosing any of the special programs?
Anyone get an interview with chosing the programs

I was verified in late June and have still not received any news, good or bad. Should I email and ask?
Hey! I was verified end of July and just barely received one a few days ago. I went to school there and did a lot of work with the med school/underserved communities and it still took me almost 2 months to get one. If you’re IS and have some ties to the area/mission you’ll most likely get one. I wouldn’t worry too much, they’re still sending out lots of secondaries! They’re prob just delayed from the tech glitch too/not reviewing in chronological order.I was verified in late June and have still not received any news, good or bad. Should I email and ask?
I had such a hard time with the character limit. I could hardly say anything!!Thanks, thats what I ended up doing.
Was anybody else surprised at the extremely short character limits? It seems like they want to be able to breeze through these secondaries.
Hoping for an II, but im worried as I don't have a connection to northern california, although I talked about my connection to urban population needs, as I grew up in LA.

probably a dumb question but does anyone know if they would be receptive to a pre-secondary update? My primary was verified the first day in June and I don't have a secondary but a lot has changed since I submitted my primary. Idk if it will help my chances of getting a secondary but I feel like i'll kick myself if I don't try.
You'll get a chance to add updates on the secondary when you receive it.probably a dumb question but does anyone know if they would be receptive to a pre-secondary update? I recieved the “application received” email 7/9 and received my secondary 9/22Yeah I’m just thinking since I haven’t gotten a secondary by now will I ever get one
Did anyone verified in August receive a secondary yet?
9/13?II 9/13 , complete 8/21 LizzyM 74-75; In state
I submitted secondary on 7/30 and still haven’t heard anything. Worries me that other people submitting secondary after me are hearing back sooner. I think I fit this schools mission very well. IS. Born and raised in the Central Valley my entire life.
do you mean if you haven't received a secondary by November? or interview invite?I spoke to a pre-health councilor at UCDavis and she said that UC's are still sending out secondaries but if you haven't heard anything by November it probably is not good news...
Secondary, they do a rigorous holistic screen of applicants before even sending out a secondarydo you mean if you haven't received a secondary by November? or interview invite?
got it thanks for the clarification 🙂 I got my secondary in early august even though my primary was verified May 31. hope you get yours soon!Secondary, they do a rigorous holistic screen of applicants before even sending out a secondary
I’m not sure but I feel like if you scored decent the second time it is self explanatoryDo you think that an MCAT retake warrants a discussion for the first section of the supplemental asking for parts of my app that might be concerning to adcoms?
Does anyone know what percentage of people who submit secindaries receive an interview invite?
