Do you know if it will be an email notification or a portal update? I’m sooooo tired of refreshing my portal 🙁

I have no idea. I'm in the same boat. She sounded annoyed so I didn't want to push for information. I just asked if there were notifications of decisions going out today from yesterday's meeting and she said, "They're entering them now, check your portal."

Those seem to be good numbers. Did they say it would be same this year? They didn’t mention anything at my interview...

When I called yesterday, I was told that adcom was meeting on Thursday (today) and that my portal would be updated after 3-4 days. She also said that if my portal does not change, then I should call back to see if my file was pushed back to the next meeting, or if someone from the office can update me on my status.
and you know exactly what they are going to say when you call them back

The messiness of this admissions process is making me reluctant about the school itself, even though I promised myself it wouldn't. Every time I think of UIC I just get this nasty, angry feeling.
Heartache.

I’m sorry you’re going through a lot of emotional discomfort. This whole med school admissions process has been filled with both excitement and anguish for many of us, and I have been disappointed by the decisions schools made on my applications as well as the delayed communication from these schools too. Please note that if you have interviewed you have a very good chance of getting in, last year they boasted something like an 80% post-II acceptance rate. This year about 7000 applicants applied to UIC, about the same number as last year. So although some of the decisions are being delayed, the odds appear to be the same. Don’t despair so soon, if you have an acceptance (regardless of whether it’s for UIC or not) just try to be happy that you don’t have to apply again, and in the coming months, maybe you’ll receive an acceptance from UIC! It’s not over till it’s over!

Have those who are accepted any supplemental emails with more information on like immjunization records???

Thank you! I really needed to hear this 🙂

No, and I would really like to get started on these. If anyone has any information about immunization requirements, can you shed some light? I know there is a pdf from the immunization requirements from last year.. not sure if I should just use that.

Okay phew, someone’s post on the FB page made me worried that I had somehow missed yet another email

Does anyone have any idea when the next Adcom meeting is?
Didn’t someone say that all decisions were going to be released after the last meeting March 21?

I know a few people in this thread found out that their portals updated to “deferred until next meeting”

My portal is still at “forwarded to admissions committee” and has not changed since my interview. There will probably be more decisions to come.

They haven’t released decisions since their last meeting, so I meant we’re all still waiting to hear back. Sorry for the confusion!

so at what point in this week can i stop repeatedly refreshing my portal? 😵
My sister who was accepted last round found out on a Tuesday following a Thursday meeting. Our last name starts with an S, not sure if it goes out in alphabetical order.. But hopefully today and tomorrow there will be some decision notifications!

any word on bringing guests to second look? I emailed Leila but no response yet

has anyone called admissions today to see whatsup with this?
I called last week and was told that the committee will meet on Thursday afternoon and decisions will be entered from Friday-Tuesday. The lady I spoke with said that if I don't hear back by Tuesday, I should give them a call. But, in my opinion, I don't think there is a point in calling them again, since I have an idea of what they will say. They will most likely ask you to wait till the next committee meeting (in April) or the one after that and keep refreshing the portal until then.

So are you saying we should look out for decisions today and tomorrow?

If I am interviewing for a program like CEMED or UMED, the decision for whether or not you get into the program has no affect on your overall admission to the university does it? Sorry this is probably a stupid question, but my neurotic brain just wants to be sure.

From my understanding you’re not obligated to apply to these programs, and the decisions they make on your application to these programs will not in any way rescind your acceptance offer if you already received one, nor will it affect any impending decisions that will be made on your application. I’m pretty sure there are different committees that address the med school and the program applications. In other words, you don’t need to worry about losing your seat due to the outcome of a special curricular program!

Thank you! I didn't think so either, just looking for some reassurance 🙂

Hi guys! I interviewed in October, and have been deferred since November. At my interview, I was told to wait until we get accepted to apply to specific programs, but I just realized the deadline has passed to apply to UMed (which I was really interested in doing). If I am lucky enough to be accepted, do you all know if we can enroll in UMed for our second year? Or is it just over now since I missed the deadline?

At my interview I asked the same thing! We were told that all the longitudinal programs were 4 years so you can't start as a second year unfortunately 🙁 Maybe that's wrong, but I remember being told that

I was given the exact opposite advice. I was told to apply for UMED even if I hadn’t received an acceptance since my interview was at the end of February, and the deadline was March 1. But since I haven’t been accepted to the university, I obviously haven’t been invited to interview for UMED. At this point, it seems like so many different people are being told different things so who knows what will happen.

Yeah, Maybe they just told us that since my interview was so long before the deadline. UGH Well, regardless, I still hope I get an acceptance soon. Keeping my fingers crossed that the post II acceptance rate is still true for this year!

what time of day did accepted people find out? wondering if we still have a chance that they will update our portals today

My question is did they even have a meeting last week Thursday... Because it seems as if no ones portal has updated.

I definitely think they had a meeting because my portal was updated with a “formal” deferral (as opposed to silence) for the first time Friday. Whether or not all the A’s have been sent out by now though or if they’re coming later in the week I’m not sure

Interviewed back in late October. Still the same "forwarded to adcom" status. smh.

I called about my application status again and she said I probably won’t hear back until after second look. I don’t know if that means they haven’t made a decision yet, or if they’ve deferred my application because my portal still says “forwarded to admissions committee”. With that said, I’m gonna give this forum and the portal a break because the uncertainty and vague, inconsistent timelines are driving me crazy.

What the hellllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

Called admissions yesterday and was told decision on my application hadnt been made and to check back friday. Got an acceptance email to the PAP program today around noon. Assigned to chicago campus(This program gets campus assignment upon acceptance) Interviewed 11/29.

Per my conversation with Leila, whether formally notified or stuck in silence, that equates to a deferred decision. It seems all files are reviewed at meetings but due to IT issues not everyone is being notified. Hope this clears things up! I know it’s stressful to not know what’s going on but try to trust the process 🙂

Thanks for this! I guess I’m just frustrated because every time I call I’m told that they haven’t made a decision. I’d rather them just tell me if it’s a deferral instead of the no response.

hi i interviewed in december and have also not heard back, but at our interview day, we were told the acceptance rate (post interview) would be lower this year because last years was way too high and they ended up having too many people accept their offer than they had seats for. they said they were going to be more conservative (which is why we're hearing back so late), but also that it wouldn't quite be 70%+ post interview acceptance rate this year. i'm not sure if any interview dates this year have heard differently but please confirm if you heard otherwise at your interview day ! i see a lot of posts on this forum about the high post interview acceptance rate, but from what i know, it's not true for our cycle (unfortunately) ): ): ):

I think I saw a post of yours earlier saying that you weren't sure how much PAP costs and what classes you take. As far as I know, PAP is free (including books) and you take gross anatomy, physiology, biochem, clinical anatomy, and neuroanatomy (dental takes vertebrate embryology second semester instead of physiology). In SPP you review gross anatomy, physiology, biochem, and I believe histology is added.
