Does anyone know if UIC accepts updates and how to send these updates?

Is there a point in sending updates now if you interviewed in, say, October (if you haven't already)? They can't see where we hold other offers, so should you just tell them it's still a top choice for you?

Do you think they actually aren’t getting to our applications each month or are making the decision to defer us after reviewing our apps?

They have to release all decisions for this meeting like rejections waitlists etc., right?
I am only assuming from what admissions has told us...They are certainly taking a conservative approach this year. It does not mean that there are any automatic rejections or waitlists and they do not want to overadmit a number of students with the new AAMC rules. But I am hoping for the best during the next adcom meeting!

That is a topic of much debate that I don't think anyone fully knows the answer to. Personally, I would have a hard time believing that any applicant's file, spare the most recent interviewees, has not been looked at by the admissions committee at least once during this process.

1) They are looking at our apps and deferring them but not telling us a single piece of useful information other than "Forwarded to the admissions committee" and being dodgy about the status of our apps in general.

2) Or they are somehow forgetting about applicants who interviewed in October/August and accepting applicants who interviewed later.

I find the latter option less likely, no matter how incompetent we think UIC admissions is. Regardless of the two options, both show lack of transparency and unreliability.

Anyone hear back from the campus specific programs like UMED?

Stay tuned to hear back this week to see if you receive an interview invite for UMED! Interviews will be held on second look day and you should be able to attend them (online) even if you are going to second look day at Rockford/Peoria (if that was your assigned campus)!

I guess I’m still confused on this timeline. If some applicants still haven’t heard back from adcom, is UMED admissions only extending interviews to those who have already been accepted? Someone said adcom is meeting again 3/21 so the interview offers would be sent before all admissions are sent out? Apologies if someone already answered this!

Building off that... Is there still a chance of being accepted into these other programs if we haven't heard from adcom yet? Like do they hold spots for people accepted after their deadline?

I think that the availability of spots would probably depend on how many of the currently accepted students are interested in or accepted to the program in question

Does anyone know if the II's are already complete, or they are still sending out II's?

does anyone, like a current student on here, know:
1. how many acceptances have been sent out?
2. how people are getting accepted between the committee meetings?
3. when PCM Scholars will extend acceptances?

Congrats!! That's so exciting! Did your portal update last night? I'm still waiting to hear back and am wondering if I should be checking my portal or just wait for an email
I don’t know when my portal updated, but I got the email at 6 pm. I wasn’t checking my portal at all because I kinda gave up on the emotional abuse I was putting myself through by checking every minute of every day. I interviewed 10/18 in rockford!

Congrats!! That's the same place and date I interviewed! I hope I hear back soon as well haha

Same date and campus for me too. Ooooo boi, any minute now, right guys?

When I interviewed, they mentioned that second look day would be March 29th. Has anyone received any emails or more information about it yet?

I know this has already been asked before, but has anyone received post-interview rejections or waitlists since then?

Did anyone accepted receive an email from the United States Army Healthcare Representative about scholarship opportunity at UIC?

I was wondering if this is worth a shot.

Yeah I got it, but just be warned that it is the national army scholarship that requires 1 year of military service for each year of the scholarship granted.

To add on to what the previous poster had said, I also believe the HPSP requires that you train in Army specific residency programs, which makes it harder to match if you are interested in any sort of specialty.

Go looking up MilMed (military medicine) forums on SDN or Reddit. I've read that joining HPSP (military scholarship) has a lot of negative aspects, in contrast to the good ones, one should know about like 1) Having to deploy overseas or being placed in a highly undesirable area 2) Not being able to pursue specialty of choice due to lack of residency spots 3) Having to deal with a military leadership that doesn't really care about your training, etc.

Hello everyone, I just received an acceptance email from UIC at exactly 5PM. I had been checking my portal pretty frequently for the past few days, but it was not updated until I received the email. I interviewed at Rockford on 2/5. Best of luck to everyone!
wow congrats! did it say you were "under review" or just "forwarded" to the admissions comm before this?

How do we know if we pay in-state or out-of-state tuition? I'm in a unique situation where my parents live in another state now but I've lived in Illinois for like 10 years. Does it say anywhere if we pay in state or out of state?

It should say right when you log into the portal right after it says Welcome to the Applicant Portal

Knowledge is power / another 'n=1' data share:

IS, non-trad career-changer, LM 72, went to both UIUC/UIC en route to being a fully realized applicant. Additionally, I unsuccessfully applied last year (2017-2018 cycle) and received my pre-II rejection email in 12/2017.

This cycle: Interviewed 11/2/18, notified of my acceptance 3/12/19, assigned campus placement today (3/15/19) (I got my second choice).

They also sent me my financial aid award letter... which for transparency was simply their estimated COA juxtaposed over the Federal Loan breakdown: Unsub-Loan ($40,500/year... the max) with the remainder covered by Fed Grad PLUS loan ($16,236/year, though I know the Grad PLUS max is a bit north of this value), totaling $56,736/year. It is explicitly stated in the letter that this value is based off the assumption of Chicago-campus placement, so my guess would be that no matter which campus you are placed in, you will likely have the same borrowing options as those placed in Chicago.

I'm very excited to have finally been accepted. I highly recommend not putting too much thought into how opaque UofI has been in their correspondence - their sluggishness/lack of transparency is in no way a reflection of your value as a prospective physician. There will be lots of waitlist movement after 4/30 when applicants have to withdraw any additional acceptances, so do yourself a favor and postpone your (perfectly natural) neurosis until 5/1.

Best of luck!

Do you get a specific email about placement? I was accepted 3/10 and my app portal still lists my primary and secondary without any indication of an official placement. I did receive a similar email yesterday about financial aid, and it listed Chicago (top choice location) as the campus, but today I got a 'revision' email, and now nothing shows up under award summary. I still feel that there's a high probability I'll get a Chicago placement, but would love a confirmation...

EDIT: I rechecked my app portal today and it's listed - Chicago!!!

Yes, I can log into the my.uic.edu portal now. I misspoke, I received the accepted email on the 7th, and got the netID token email on the 10th.

Just got off the phone with admissions. There's a committee meeting on Thursday, with the same acceptance procedures we're used to. I did manage to get a couple new pieces of information. Right now there's no wait list. Also, the director articulated that the last batch of acceptances might be in May.

I literally have a screen shot of my friends status that says they have placed him on the waitlists. I don’t even think the schools knows what they are doing or saying.
