Any current students have an idea about the equipment they have us order in the matriculation packet? 1k seems pretty steep for equipment did anyone buy used equipment for cheaper?
At the beginning of each year students heading off for rotations will sell pieces of their kit. You can buy them, then when you get your full kit you can return the parts you bought used. We don't use them much so they'll be "like new".Any current students have an idea about the equipment they have us order in the matriculation packet? 1k seems pretty steep for equipment did anyone buy used equipment for cheaper?
Hey y'all. I am interviewing here 02/21. Anyone care to share any general insights about interview day and what they thought of the campus? Thanks in advance!
Thank you that is really helpful! This is from their FAQs. My experience was the same. The interview was early so you didn’t have to stress the whole day waiting for it. I didn’t feel it was “high” stress but they had questions they wanted to ask me about my app.
“ACOM uses a rolling admissions cycle and schedules applicant interviews August through April of the application year. Applicants are invited to campus for an interview, faculty and staff presentations, and a tour of the facility. The schedule includes a single, open-file interview with basic science faculty, clinical faculty, administrators, and/or community physicians.”
I liked the campus and everyone was friendly and professional. The facilities are well kept and there is a quasi on campus housing next door. I say quasi because there is not enough room for all students and it’s not ran by the school.
no problem!Thank you that is really helpful!
also there are two faculty members present for the interview, so its 2 on 1Thank you that is really helpful!
Does anyone know if the dean usually approves the Admissions Committee's recommendations? I was informed by Mr. Willis today that I was on the list of applicants who were recommended by the committee and that he was going to meet with the dean tomorrow morning for the final decision. I would like to think that the dean does usually approve the admissions committee's recommendations because that would make the most sense.
Did you send Mr. Willis updates? Or just wait? Thank you!Accepted off the waitlist today!
Yeah it was and I got accepted so if you get recommended by the committee, you’re more than likely to get inI
Is this for a spot off the waitlist? I’m pretty sure youre solid
PM’d youDid you send Mr. Willis updates? Or just wait? Thank you!

According to admissions, 510 COMLEX Level 1. I don’t know the other onesDoes anyone know what the average board scores are at ACOM?
That's a little low, is that the most recent data? I think the averages will continue to go up by getting rid of wolfpaccAccording to admissions, 510 COMLEX Level 1. I don’t know the other ones
This was before the new data was published on their websiteThat's a little low, is that the most recent data? I think the averages will continue to go up by getting rid of wolfpacc
Yeah I think ACOM has a really bright future considering its solid infrastructure and its willingness to listen to what their students wantThis was before the new data was published on their website
I agree. The board scores are heavily based on student effort, as with other schools. But their rotations are good and they’re constantly expanding them.Yeah I think ACOM has a really bright future considering its solid infrastructure and its willingness to listen to what their students want
Also, I’ll be willing to bet that their average board scores did go up coinciding with their level 1 first time passing rates going up from 90% to 95%. More dedicated board prep time and getting rid of wolfpacc is huge imoI agree. The board scores are heavily based on student effort, as with other schools. Just wondering where the info about the shuttle is to be found? I have my interview coming up and I am worried I am missing some information!Comfort Inn & Suites Dothan East! ACOM sends a shuttle there and back so it’s convenient.
The admissions committee emailed me the week of the interview asking if I would be utilizing the shuttle. It is offered from Comfort Inn and leaves at 7:30am the morning of the interview!Just wondering where the info about the shuttle is to be found? I’m a dummy for asking this but does anyone know how to submit the matriculation packet? I don’t think I’ve seen this info anywhere.
Anyone know the attrition rate? Seems kinda misleading with "99% match of eligible candidates*"
Also found this on another thread:attrition rate after 1st senester is avg for medical schools ~8%. I think out of the 162 from day 1, 137 graduated and had a job that was (~85%) but 8% of that was repeated after first semester. so about 7% were lost between start of second semester and graduation. Only 2 people from my graduating class didn’t have jobs come July 1.
Pretty much all of the 8% repeated graduate with the next class. These are the students that struggled and failed MM/anatomy. They go on to do fineAlso found this on another thread:
Class data for 2013-2019 is as follows:
2013-14: 162 first year, inaugural class.
2014-15: 316 total enrollment, 163 first year, 0 graduates. (162+162) = 325 expected enrollment, 9 attrition. 9/325 = 2.8% attrition rate.
2015-16: 460 total enrollment, 175 first year, 0 graduates. (316+175) = 491 expected enrollment, 31 attrition. 31/491 = 6.3% attrition rate.
2016-17: 605 total enrollment, 168 first year, 126 graduates. (460+168) = 628 expected enrollment, 23 attrition. 23/628 = 3.7% attrition rate.
2017-18: 639 total enrollment, 173 first year, 144 graduates. (605+173-126) = 652 expected enrollment, 13 attrition. 13/652 = 2.0% attrition rate.
2018-19: 651 total enrollment, 173 first year, 162 graduates. (651+173-162) = 662 expected enrollment, 11 attrition. 11/662 = 1.7% attrition rate.
Average yearly attrition rate = 3.3%
You're the best. Thank you!!There is a FAQ about halfway down the first page on the site they assigned you when you applied. I took me a second to find it as well.

If you have a good roommate, yes. I did a 1 bedroom apartment and it wasn’t worth itWhere is the best place to live if you're a student here? Is the on-campus housing worth it?
For those working on the matriculation packet:
On the ACOM Electronic Authorization Form it asks for our ACOM ID. Does anyone know what to put there?
-in fact it asks for our ID on multiple forms
Should be a 9 digit number in your matriculation packet email from Mr. Willis. For those working on the matriculation packet:

I decided against the on-campus apartments, but the people that live there are happy being close to school. Summerfield is looking less available as the class sizes increase, so that seems to be the bigger problem. Two apartment complexes are supposed to start construction very close to ACOM, but I don't think those will be completed by the time the 2020-2021 school year starts. If you're okay with a roommate and a little drive every day, there are plenty of off-campus options.Where is the best place to live if you're a student here? Is the on-campus housing worth it?
