Yeah I haven't either! The admissions person was talking about the whole deposit/acceptance info but it kinda went out the other ear. 🄲 I was too busy freaking out lol

I sent an additional letter of intent worded a bit differently a couple of weeks ago. Maybe that would help you if you haven’t sent another since the waitlist confirmation email.

Omg thank you for the advice! I sent them a letter of intent on 4/22 and I have been debating about sending them another one because I don't want to come out as super annoying but then again I do want to shoot my shot...

I would send another! What do you have to lose? Might as well let them know you would come if given the chance!

Did you receive an acceptance call first or an email? šŸ™‚ Also, when did you interview?
I just received an email, and I believe I interviewed during the last date in April. I also received an email regarding my continued interest in ACOM about two weeks prior to receiving an A.

I hate to be that guy, but when do I officially ā€œthrow the towel?ā€ July 22? July 15?

To those who have been accepted, I have a question regarding the matriculation documents. It states on the site that the documents have a deadline of July 1st. If I submit all the documents am I obligated to go to ACOM or can I still attend a different medical school that I am waitlisted at?

Anyone have any leads on decent, affordable housing? Summerfield Square is full. ;/
I am renting through Dothan Property Management, but looked at The Cottages and toured them. Cottages were ok, but too expensive for what I needed. Their one beds aren't bad though. There are two houses for rent off Radford Cir about 5 min from school, if they are still available, that were ok but a little overpriced. They would be fine with a roommate cost wise. Also some other students are living at Magnolia Preserve and Fieldcrest apartments. There are quite a few of us renting houses off campus and are paying reasonable prices as well. I started cold calling rental agencies and that is how I found my house before it even went on the market for rent, and it is cheaper than a lot of other apartments, houses, and Summerfield even though its a larger 3/2 house.

Thank you so much!

Hi,
Please help me decide between these 2 schools. Its urgent. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

VCOM-Auburn

Pros:
closer to family (2hrs)
I liked the area when I visited
Nice campus and Resources
tuition cost is less
COL is low

Cons:
no affiliated hospital (not sure how much that matters)
no specific % of match rates in each specialty
frequent exams

ACOM:

Pros:
Better reputation for better rotation sites in bigger cities
affiliated hospital
better surgical match rates
fewer exams per month

Cons:
farther from family (3.5 hrs)
smaller town
more tuition cost (36K more per 4 years)
haven't visited campus

I am interested in pursuing surgery but don't want to make my entire decision based on a field I have very little exposure to. Any input from current or former students or advisors would be much appreciated.

Hello!

Just wanted to give some input on my experience with ACOM since I’m here right now for the 1st year bootcamp and will be starting here soon. I can’t give much insight on VCOM because I didn’t apply there.

ACOM has a super low COL because it’s in Dothan, probably lower than where VCOM is.

The Faculty is what sold me on this school compared to others in the county. Also, the campus is a medical school that was built to be a medical school. The building is incredible and the simulation center is so nice and stocked full of technology. Affiliation with the massive hospital literally 2 minutes down the road is nice too for opportunities to shadow, volunteer, and bolster your residency app.

If you have the time/resources, my recommendation would be to look at ACOM before making a final decision. If you call the school they will absolutely make time and schedule for you to do an individual tour if you want one. You have to be able to see yourself there and it would be easier for you to compare the two if you knew what you’re comparing.

Hope this helps!

For those who are accepted late, how long did they give you to complete the pre-matriculation stuff? (Immunization/drug test/background tests/etc)

Anyone know if acom would offer a deferral for next year? I’ve been praying almost every week for this A for a year now, and if it happens in the next week or so, it’s gonna be hard as an older non-trad I feel like at this point it’s gonna be hard to uproot everything and move over 1000 miles away in such short notice

Acom is super considerate with deferrals so I wouldn’t worry too much about that. Are you on the waitlist?

Yes, I was also part of the group they asked back in early May, if i was still wanting to be considered for this months class,

Thank you again for the reassurance

I also heard that when most schools pull people off the waiting list the last few weeks before school starts, they usually tend to pick people that live in the schools tri-state area (Alabama/florida/georgia)
I also live a little over 1k miles away from the school

They reached out to me today offering an acceptance without interviewing? Lol I have no idea if this is scam or legit can anyone who got accepted recently reach out to me! I just want to check the name of the person who reached out to you all!

Doesn’t seem legit, programs wouldn’t just accept without an interview. That being said, I withdrew my A recently and the class starts soon so who knows šŸ‘€

That’s what I am thinking šŸ˜…I will call them tomorrow and check.
