Anyone hear anything yet? Do they usually make calls and send out emails in the afternoon?

Previous emails (deferred) came out around either 10am or 2pm Arizona time, with most days being around 2pm.

First hold today. But I’m getting the impression from here that I’m on the deferred list for the long haul.

After 6 or so deferred emails post-II, I got rejected today. IS, LM70-72, veteran. No love from my IS schools, only OOS schools.

oh wow I didn’t realize they did this! I guess I’m grateful for being on hold for the 7th time then... did you get an email in December encouraging you to keep your hopes up about being on hold?

Yea, I got that email (x2 over the course of a few minutes). I honestly wasn't expecting any rejection, more of a continual deferral. Oh well.

Does anyone know what the implications are for the new step 1 scoring in terms of this school? With P/F step 1, P/F classes and no AOA at Phoenix (unless I'm mistaken there), how can residency programs make quantitative assessments about applicants? I know nobody here really knows for sure and it's mostly speculation but I'm just curious what others are thinking.

I know for a fact that our school does a good job with Step 2 prep. Step 2 will still be score based so the emphasis will probably shift towards Step 2.

The school is in the process of implementing AOA. Not sure which class will be first though! As above, our school does comparably much better on step2 vs step1 against national averages.

Is this school still sending out interview invites?
February 10th was the second to last interview date. If interviews happen every week, I would assume that February 17th was the last interview date. Dean Fogerty mentioned that acceptance calls go out on Monday and the committee meets on Thursdays.

Feb 24th, this coming monday is the last applicant visit day. There were no interviews on 2/17.

MS1 here.

The last I had heard about AOA when I started last year was that the school has the capability to begin AOA in the future due to the way grading is done, but that there was no immediate plans to do it. Anything changing due to the recent change in Step 1 to P/F is something I have not talked to admin about yet.

But yes, no AOA ranking currently, but possibility to transition in the future.

The MMI officially starts at 9, but check in starts at 7:15... what time do we need to be there by?

Question for current students at Phoenix: What's research like there? Is it easy for students to get involved? Tried to find this out through their website but it's unclear.

Part of the required curriculum is completion of a Scholarly Project, where you choose a research mentor and then complete a project with the intent to be published. The program will also help you to find additional research opportunities if you would like to do more. Sometimes the SP mentors end up being great sources of additional projects that they are working on as well.

So I guess it's safe to say if we haven't gotten an interview here yet then we've been rejected, right? Considering their last interview date was earlier this week!

what interview date? those of us on 2/10 were told 3/2 for decisions! not gonna lie though, gotta appreciate the transparency 🙂

Did he say that everyone would get a decision that day, or that that was the earliest we could hear?

Wait, so does everyone think they’ll still be sending out deferrals on the 28th? Or will this round include actual waitlists? Arizona does actual waitlists, right?

Also, has anyone who’s been deferred more than once received an acceptance on one of these notifications days?

Got an email saying decision date has been moved up by 3 days from the date they told me WHY THOUGH
What day did you interview? DId it seem like it was just your application decision that would be moved up? Thats interesting!
Nah, I got the same email. Did not everyone receive it?? I assumed this was sent to everyone who is still waiting to hear...

“Our Office of Admissions and Recruitment previously communicated that the next update to your application status would be next Monday, March 2, 2020. We wanted to let you know we have made a small adjustment to this timeline and we have decided to move up the date of decision announcements. The next date by which you can expect an update to your application status is now this Friday, February 28, 2020. Please let us know if you have any questions.”

not sure - as dean fogerty said that, i put it into my phone as "U of A day" lol. they seemed to be really forthcoming by at least giving us a date. so many other schools were like "youll know sometime in 2020" *eye rolls*

i want to hope that means everyone who interviewed on 2/10 would get a decision that day, but that may really just be wishful thinking.

The 2/28 date seems to be for the non 2/10 interviewees.

Unfortunately, yes. Hopefully you found success with another program. Otherwise, I know for a fact the UACOM-P really appreciates the fortitude of re-applicants.

Some of you mentioned transparency, and I know Dr. Fogerty and the rest of Admissions really appreciates hearing that type of feedback, because they try to do their best with the process. They understand what we go through during the application process.

Received the much awaited phone call this morning. Interviewed 2/10.
Still awaiting the email though!
Currently over the moon!!!!

Did you get the email earlier this week saying your decision would be made on 2/28 instead of 3/2, or had you not heard anything since your interview?
