Not sure about a sample but detailed course descriptions are listed starting on page 68 of the student handbook.

Hey guys! Interviewed on 10/11/2019 and was accepted 10/23/2019! Recently placed my deposit too! First time posting on here but just wanted to get to know you guys who plan on attending ARCOM and can't wait to meet you all!

Also accepted recently and will be placing my deposit. Can’t wait to meet all y’all 🙂

Anyone else having trouble uploading their the forms on the portal?
The matriculation form, right? (do we need to submit anything else at this point?). I did not have any trouble uploading the form. What are you exactly having an issue with?

I called and the matriculation form and deposit are the only things needed.

Does anyone know if there is an ARCOM student facebook page or something where new/current students can help each other? I know there is an official ARCOM page, but I don't think I've found a student one. Just something to get a better idea of housing, required materials, etc...

Has anyone waited longer than a month to hear an admission response post interview?

Does anyone know of a good gym situation nearby?
Yes, there are many different ones in town. Mercy and Baptist Hospitals each have one that have discounts for us students, and there's a planet fitness and a Body master fitness. Plus there are some crossfit places as well. Also, the school is supposed to have one across the street in one of the new buildings hopefully by the time you guys get here.

There is a 24/7 anytime fitness 10 minutes away.

There is also 24/7 body masters gym within 5 minutes with memberships at $35/month. That’s probably what I’m going to do because I want a little bigger gym than the on-campus gym.

I didn’t get to hear or see about the gym that was being built across the street. Hopefully it’s big enough tho.

Dec 5th yeah I guess my grade is not good enough
Being waitlisted is not a bad thing. You weren't rejected. It might be because all the seats are (or close to being) full right now. There will be plenty of waitlist movement as the cycle moves along, and people start missing their deposit deadlines and/or dropping off their spots to go somewhere else.

I don't think they are waitlisting right now due to limited space, considering they have scheduled interviews until the end of February (which is currently completely booked). In fact, they'll probably have interviews well after that since the app deadline is March 1st.

@Ki-100 , how did the actual interview go for you? Do you think you did well on it?

@ftredrr , did you have an interview or were you pre-secondary rejected?

Regardless, even with being waitlisted, I'm sure there will be movement like @DrStephenStrange states. Keep your heads in the game. 🙂

I feel like it is ok but who know what the school is thinking.

Hey I have some questions for any current ARCOM students who would be willing to comment?

- What days are exams usually on?
- Is there optional time to use the SIM labs/mannequins outside of the required times?
- What is the format of exams- comprehensive, encompassing all material from multiple classes taking at that time, or separated into different days corresponding to different course material?
- Is the curriculum separated into blocks at all? I.e. do we learn GI in lecture and lab and then test on it, then cardiovascular in lecture and lab and then test on it, followed by etc...?
- Employment opportunities for spouses in/near Ft Smith?
- Mission trip opportunities during summer breaks or breaks during semester?
- Frequency of exams?

Any input would be greatly appreciated, I'm trying to weigh my options as best I can!

- What days are exams usually on?

They can be on any day. There's no specific day for exams. Before you start school, you will get the layout of the schedule for the whole semester.

- Is there optional time to use the SIM labs/mannequins outside of the required times?

Not really. But the EM club with the help of some faculty is starting a project this coming semester where we will be able run different kinds of emergency simulations and how to approach them. Keep in mind though, you will be pretty busy once you start and the SIM lab will be the last thing you will want to waste time on. In third year, when you will actually need to practice simulations for Level 2, there will be plenty of practice days in the SIM lab.

- What is the format of exams- comprehensive, encompassing all material from multiple classes taking at that time, or separated into different days corresponding to different course material?

The exams are made of board style questions (multiple choice) and separated by classes/course material. Although, all the other classes will kinda match up with each other as you go.

- Is the curriculum separated into blocks at all? I.e. do we learn GI in lecture and lab and then test on it, then cardiovascular in lecture and lab and then test on it, followed by etc...?

Yes, except for first semester of first year where you will have anatomy and biochemistry. Second semester of 1st year you will have physiology and that's when everything will switch to system based.

- Employment opportunities for spouses in/near Ft Smith?

It will depends on what your spouse wants to do. You will find jobs for sure, but whether or not it is the kind of jobs you want is a different story.

- Mission trip opportunities during summer breaks or breaks during semester?

Yes, there is at least one mission trip every summer. In summer 2018, the DOCARE club went to Peru, and there was another group that went to Mexico. Last summer, there was one in Ghana with one of our faculty who is from there.

- Frequency of exams?

It is variable. During first year we were having exams like every week or so. Now in second year, we can go 2 to 3 weeks without having one. Before the finals we just took, we didn't have an exam since last week of October, but that's including our 5 day Thanksgiving break of course.

^Can you pay with an eCheck without the processing fee?
I had the same question and called the admissions office a few weeks ago. They said you can't pay the deposit via eCheck. It has to be paid either through paypal ($72 processing fee) or a regular check in the mail (no processing fee).

Got an acceptance here and was SOOO impressed at interview day. After getting another acceptance at a school closer to home, though, I let my seat go - so best of luck to those who are waiting! But literally had such a great feeling about this school. They seem to really be doing things right and if I was closer, they would have been a top choice next to an MD school I recently interviewed at, honestly. They're new but they definitely know what they're doing. Wanted to throw that out there for anyone having second thoughts or trying to decide. They are VERY receptive to the students and try to create the best learning environment and culture from what I saw. Everyone is so nice and it truly felt like a family there. When I got my call, I was ecstatic - they were my first acceptance and I didn't feel like I was settling in the slightest. Plus, turn-around time from interview to acceptance was super quick. Very impressive school. (Their interview day is still my favorite so far....no "down time" where you are sitting or waiting around, no cafeteria lunch (they catered great food in a conference room), tour was thorough and very informative, and overall it was laid back and truly so fun.) If you get an interview here and are wondering if you should go, do it. I bought a plane ticket for this interview and even though I did not keep the seat, I don't regret it at all b/c it was that great of an experience.

Also just an FYI - when I interviewed (in Sept), they took our pictures for our student doc ID cards. Probably not an issue since you'll be lookin your best for interview day 😉, but just so you're not surprised in case they don't let you know or you missed it!

I have had a very similar experience and the same sentiment to what you described here. This is an awesome school and I'm having a really hard time justifying not moving across the country to enroll after a recent acceptance near my hometown. The culture here was impressive and ARCOM is no doubt a great school.

yes, it was a VERY difficult decision to make when I received the acceptance closer to home. I was also willing to move across the country to enroll and attend. I had even picked out a house there. But, I had to make the wisest decision with my money and the cost of moving so far along with being so far from family just ended up being too much when I had another option open up. I still have some guilt and hope I made a good decision because, man, ARCOM is amazing. They are definitely going to be making a name for themselves the longer they are around. I think the doctors who come out of that school are going to be setting an extremely high standard for DOs and MDs alike.
