Thank you! I am interviewing in Chicago too! This has probably been asked before, but where you interview plays no role in where you get assigned if you're admitted correct?

Accepted, interview 1/9. Anyone know when campus assignments come through?

Congratulations!!!! It’s sorta random, I’d give it 2 weeks, and if you don’t hear by then shoot them an email

I interviewed in freaking September and still have not heard back. I’m going with the more realistic conclusion and say that I’m not getting in. I’m a little too old for that type of optimism.

Delayed Decision! Is this just a waitlist or does it mean that it will get reviewed later?

I believe delayed decision simply means you will be further discussed in upcoming committee meetings. From what I understand, there’s no guarantee that you’ll hear back till the end of their meeting period (which I think ends in April) but you still have a chance to be accepted before then!! Keep your hopes up!

Do any of you know how likely you are to get chicago as your assignment if you select chicago as your first choice?

I believe that depends on the content of your application. Whether you have plans for urban medicine, rural medicine, etc. I also read somewhere that where you interview may also sway the committees decision on where to place you, even though UICOM says they are independent of each other. I interviewed at Rockford and ranked Chicago > Peoria > Rockford in that order but received Peoria.

Congrats to all those admitted! I interviewed mid January and they told us the committee wouldn’t meet again until the 3rd Thursday in February. Either they’re just really slow from this month or they’re meeting an extra time?

I was surprised to hear back today, considering this was their third straight week of admissions decisions for January. Thank you and best of luck!

Has anyone heard anything from their financial aid office? That OOS tuition is scaring me lol.

Not sure if you’re aware of this, but UIC decreased their OOS tuition by 16%. So they’re trying to make it more affordable to OOS applicants. Still pretty expensive, but much better than before

It's my understanding that interviewers have access to your personal statement and secondary essays but nothing else. Is this the case for MMI as well as the traditional interview? Also how many MMI stations are there and are they pretty chill/conversational here? Thank you!!

Not 100% sure but I don’t think the MMI people have access to your file. At least, none of them will ask about stuff in your file unless you bring it up as part of your answer. They are all very nice and are conversational. I liked that they had follow up prompts to the questions so if your initial answer is shorter the conversation can still go on.

MMI is closed file, and the one-on-one interview is chill, laid back, and open file

Thanks. Does the one-on-one interviewer have access to all parts of your application or just personal statement and secondary responses? I'm reading mixed things

I know this may seem like a question to ask a little late into the game but is there a specific area on the portal that with actually give a status update on your app? The status tab on my portal just says the my application "is ready" but I have been complete since August. Just curious as other med schools have status sections that actually reflect what is occurring during the process like under review, continued consideration, etc. Thanks guys!

I have some questions for any current student that might be able to answer please:

1. With everything going on with fb (their questionable practices in terms of ads, policies, etc.) I would rather not make an account. Is there going to be some other way to communicate as a class or do you think its necessary make one?
2. I was assigned to the Peoria campus but have been doing research at a hospital very close to UIC for about a year and would like to continue during med school since I'm already established there and we're starting a new research study (I'm also applying to GMED but that's just a sidetone because I haven't been accepted into it yet); do you think I have a decent shot at an appealed decision or do people usually not get campus changes to Chicago?

Thank you!

From what I have heard, petitioning is very low chance...since they don’t consider until the very end, and so many people want Chicago. I would say good bet would be GMED

Does anyone have any insight on the Peoria campus? I was assigned to Peoria but didn't interview there, so any and all info would be helpful!

how did y'all find out about the date of second look? I was accepted back in november and I havent been notified about anything

I called Admissions today to see when interviews conclude. The person who answered said that interviews could go through the end of February. Has anyone heard anything more definitive? Trying to manage my optimism...
