Hey guys, I just paid my acceptance deposit a couple of weeks ago. Haven’t heard anything since. Are they going to send out another email with instructions for background check, things to order, vaccinations, etc.?

Yup. They send all this stuff to your NSU email though, so I would suggest setting yours up asap. Also going off of that, seeing as all the clinics in my area are not allowing regular visits is it possible they'll extend the vaccinations due date?

The latest email I got (on 03/23) told us to complete the requirements "only if possible" and stated that "Updates and deadlines will be adjusted if necessary," so I would not worry much. However, I would suggest letting them know if you cannot get the requirements done by the current deadline.

Does nova have a number on how many updates we can send ? I have already sent an LOI back in February, and it was placed in my file. But have not has any contact with the school since.

Does anyone have any data on what the match rate was for the c/o 2020. Just would like to know if there has been any improvement.

ill say this. anatomy was apparently live streamed from the clearwater campus last year for the davie kids. sus

Only 50% is live streamed from Clearwater but that’s every single course we have. The other 50% is live streamed from Davie.

davie has cadavers or no?

We have cadavers but they’re not part of our curriculum because Clearwater doesn’t have an anatomy lab. To be honest it’s not necessary to get an A in the class. The virtual reality modules and Complete Anatomy which we get for free are excellent and more than enough to understand how everything looks. There is also a summer fellowship where if you would still like to be in the lab you can teach other health professions anatomy as a beginning M2. Some people are doing that.

Accepted to NSU-Tampa Bay campus. Interviewed 3/3. I really enjoyed Interview Day for this school. Any thoughts for why I should pick this school over another? I am kind of torn between NSU and VCOM. Please advise!!!

Hey Calvn. Which did you decide to go with? I too am trying to make a decision between the two.

Yes, most of the classes, I've been told are 50% streamed from Clearwater and 50% to Clearwater from Davie since it's a satellite campus so essentially "everything" has to be the same including resources offered. However, I was referring to things that require to be done in person e.g. OPP, and other classes.

Opp and physical diagnosis are also live streamed to the other campus but mostly from Davie.

Zoom interview advice? Feels weird to be interviewing so late (April 30), so I need all the help I can get!
pretty relaxed interview overall dont stress just sell yourself. make sure you got slacks on in case you stand up for w/e reason

How long was the interview? What types of questions did they ask? I heard it would be around 30 minutes so I'm worried about how much they could possibly ask in that short of time slot

Using the SDN Interview Feedback was super helpful. They asked very typical interview questions. No curve balls.

Hi everyone! My gf is going to be coming here possibly, specifically most likely in Tampa.

I was wondering what the 2020 match list was? I saw it somewhere, and it looked amazing, but I can't be sure that was legit. The 2019 one was OK but a bit lackluster.

Anyone willing to give me an idea of how they have recently been reworking things thanks to Patels huge overhaul? Since they had some residency placement misses that made em a bit notorious. Thoughts?

I'd seriously appreciate any and all help!

I will be giving up my seat at the Ft. Lauderdale campus. NSU is amazing, and my top D.O. school choice. But I was accepted to a state school with almost a full ride, so I can't pass on that. Good luck to you all. I hope you guys on the campus waitlist get to move soon!

*For future students applying with low stats: Everything is possible. If NOVA is where you want to be, do everything you can to get there. Don't just submit your app and wait. Go to the open house and talk to the admissions counselors, they will tell you that it's ok to show up in person to talk to them after attending the event. DO THAT. The admissions counselor was just the most amazing human being and so willing to help. So reach out! I was not going to get an interview because my cGPA was below a 3.4 (found that out once I met with them), but they reviewed other parts of my app, and I was able to explain to them that I was still taking classes which would raise my GPA.

Don't lose hope and don't compare yourself. I was told by my school counselor to retake the MCAT because I didn't have a chance at an MD school (503). There was no way in hell I was going to retake (and I would be happy to go to a DO school). I attended premed events, talked to admissions representatives, and kept their business cards. Once application time came, and I didn't hear from the schools I was aiming for, I began to reach out to them. That's one of the reasons why I got my latest acceptance. Ask yourself, "Am I doing everything I POSSIBLY can?"

Sorry for the long post. This is such a painful process, and if I can help any of you in any way, please reach out to me.

You WILL GET THERE. <3

The 2020 match list you saw was only like 73/230 total students. Although those 73 were decently impressive you have no idea about the rest of the class. Seeing something like 30 transitional/rotating years on 2019 match list doesnt really make me confident as those spots are essentially dead ends(this is considering that nova seemed to indicate pgy1 and pgy2 positions to other people on the match list). its possible a few of those 30 were people with good apps and aimed too high theyll prob be fine trying to match again at places they are more competitve at in the following year.
just thought i'd mention it.
maybe the match list will get posted and surprise me!

Oh and don't forget the +1000 DO applicants that will be coming in the next 4 years graduating class thanks to school expansion

Did anyone get ethical questions or questions about how to improve the current healthcare system on their virtual interview?

Ok, so I realize a huge chunk of the class is not represented. But this match list fraction is much better than just "OK" lol. I've been accepted to two middle rank M.D programs, and this match section looks almost better than either of them lawl.

That's A LOT of specialties and big names. Is this balanced by the fact that the other portion of the class did poorly? Like how is it possible for the match to be this strong for a school with a 503 MCAT average o.0. Not bashing, if anything this is a huge compliment. Why do people sh*&%t on the school so much if the outcomes are like this?

lol cus taking out 400K in loans with no way to pay it back turns out is a pretty **** outcome. People not matching or getting stuck in transitional/rotating dead ends is a very very very bad result. Yeah obviously some people are gonna make it and do well for themselves but who's to say you or who you're representing will be in the portion who matches amazing and isnt one who ends up with nothing to show for

also not considering that this mach list is pre the 1000 new yearly graduating DO's
