Anyone know how many UVA accepts outright and how many they waitlist?
I will guess with relatively higher yield compared to other schools, total outright acceptance may be 160 right of the back. with overall acceptance around 200 counting waitlist acceptance in the end. waitlist may be created of 75. that will be enough to allow them to make the class of 156 matriculant.

I want an interview here so bad, but it’s looking more and more like they’re almost out of interviews. It’s sad, but I’m still holding out a small bit of hope that I’ll get an interview here. I’ve loved the school since I was like 4. If it’s not too much trouble may I ask what the interview date is out to?

during my interview this week they said they anticipated interviewing up to the end of February!

yeah but they probably only have limited spots left and I feel like they’ll give it to someone better than me. Hopefully though, I’m still holding out hope

Does the title of the decisions email tell you right away what the result is? Or is it a pretty neutral title?
So nervous. Good luck guys!

Accepted applicants, when accepting the offer of admission, what option are you choosing for your clinical rotations/why? I’m torn and don’t know if I should choose Charlottesville only, Inova, or no preference. I know the major differences between the two hospital settings, but I’m not sure what would be best

I’ve talked to a lot of people about this and they all said you’d obviously get a great clinical training at both. Really it comes down to if you prefer the more urban northern Virginia/DC area with a more diverse population or the more academic hospital nature of Charlottesville (still diverse just not as much I think). Inova is a level 1 trauma center and I’m pretty sure actually the best hospital in the DC area. Also the area is right next to a huge shopping center called Tyson’s corner which is kinda cool. It’s a cool area to live in is what people have told me. I’ve heard it’s amazing for OBGYN and Peds so if you’re interested in those two it might be better to pick that since you’ll get great mentors there potentially. If you have any specific questions let me know and I’ll see if I know! I had a tough time deciding between the 2 also!

I just selected Charlottesville bc I wouldn’t want to move all over again, have to worry as much about losing touch with friends made in the first two years (since 75% of the class will be staying at Charlottesville), etc

i think this is an important point for sure. I ended up choosing inova because it’s close to family but I think it’s important to remember that if you do choose inova you’ll be with the same cohort throughout school because they want all the inova people together. So you’ll be kind of moving with the people you know best but you will be leaving behind friends you made in other parts of the class which is definitely sad.

Question for accepted students: Did anyone get a confirmation email from docusign after filling out the contract? I swear I signed it but I haven’t received any email.

Does anyone know if UVA med student can apply to live on Grounds? I am interested in Copeley Hill Apartments

I know that there are some med students who have lived in the rooms on the lawn in the past, but not sure about other residences.

Decided to check my application portal on a whim, noticed a tab with interview info. Never received an interview invite via email or anything, nothing in spam folder either. Called the office and they said whoops, we’ll send the email right over. Dates available late Jan/early Feb. OOS complete early August. Happy New Years 😀

No II here yet. Since submitting the primary+LoR's, I've started working in a lab with 5 former UVA research faculty (big name research directors from there). I sent an update a month ago about the research and the ties to UVA, however, I'm wondering if a recommendation letter from the faculty uploaded to the portal is something they're receptive to.

I bet it would get more attention if the research director emailed it directly to the admissions dept. I doubt the are notified every time an applicant updates their app.

IIRC med/grad students can live on the Range, whereas the Lawn is reserved for 4th years. The Range is just like the backside of the lawn rooms, so they don't face the lawn, but still super convenient. Also, Copeley is pretty far from the med school and the bus to get from there to the med school is not great...

Other accepted students, we don't have to pay anything yet, right? I know a lot of schools ask for deposits.

Does anyone know when UVA second look is scheduled? I can't find anything online

Any idea of when / how we should begin looking for housing?

I've heard that people lock in housing pretty early (fall) but that might be more applicable to the undergrads. I know it's still very possible to find housing in the summer. They haven't opened up a FB group yet right? The FB group last year opened up around this time and I'd really like to start looking for roommates.
