I believe one student here told me they send out acceptances on Fridays? Did anyone else hear that at the interview day?

Does anyone else think that a phone call or email to the admissions office asking for clarification on this could be a good idea?
i dont know if its a good idea but let me know the result if you do 😀

For sure! I saw someone else had said that they were told interview day that they could expect to hear by the 16th if not the 15th, so I’m thinking if today is also silent I might reach out tomorrow

An acquaintance told me today that when they interviewed a few weeks ago (end of sept), they told him October 19th. He interviewed after me where they told me 15th or 16th

edit: accepted around 2PM!!

I interviewed here in their first week and haven't heard anything 🙁

Congrats y'all! As usual, here to answer any questions you guys may have.

anyone know the post ii acceptance rate for oos or in general?

Usually approximately 650 interviews for about 300 acceptances, so about 46%.

To anyone who didn't receive a complete email: I called the office yesterday and asked them about it, and they said I was complete on the day I submitted. The lady on the phone was super nice and sent me the email I was supposed to receive, plus the in-state tuition form since I'm IS. She claimed that the form wouldn't affect whether or not I got an invite but it says on the form that you need to complete it in order to receive an invite... so hoping there's an II coming my way soon

Can a current student at UVA talk about the rotations and their new option to go to the Inova campus for 3rd and 4th year? I like the idea of a more urban setting but is the level of clinical training and education at Inova at the same caliber of Charlottesville and surrounding rotations? Basically, would you recommend/consider picking to spend your 3rd and 4th year there? Also, if you were to pick that would you do all your rotations around Inova or still have an option to do some rotations at other locations? Thanks! sorry that was a loaded question haha

Loaded, but basically sums up all my concerns lol. Also hoping someone can give some insight.

I'm from NOVA (am an applicant this cycle), and the 3rd/4th year there sounds great. INOVA has one of the premier cardiac units in the world, and the rest of the facilities are great.

It's difficult to say for sure. I think it'll be a net positive because a full 1/4th of the class will go up there, whereas now all of the class is in Charlottesville with some rotations having options all over the state (they will usually send you out for FM and outpatient IM, and have current random assignments for a small number of students each rotation for Richmond and Fairfax for the OBGYN rotation, Richmond and Fairfax for peds, and Salem for surgery and psychiatry). I think having some people spend their whole time in Fairfax and some in cville like before will reduce the number of learners per faculty and resident which could help you get more individualized teaching. That being said, the docs at Inova probably aren't used to teaching the volume of med students that they would get from this so there might be a bit of an adjustment period (although UVA may just be occupying the role VCU used to have up there? idk). By the time y'all are there I imagine it'll be pretty established though.

Take all that with a grain of salt given that I didn't do any rotations in Fairfax and obviously nobody has yet done the full Inova campus option yet. But the classmates I know who did portions of different rotations up there have liked it

I definitely love the idea of going to Fairfax but also am wondering if that means I'd do ALL my rotations there? or still have the option to do some of them away like surgery in Salem, etc.

So I specifically asked about this at my interview and they were saying that either one you choose you definitely still have the option of doing rotations elsewhere. I would call or email them if you're still concerned because it's a big deal to choose one or the other!

For those who have already interviewed, where do we send thank you letters for our interviewers? Do we upload it in our portal?

Do you think thank you letters make an impact here since they have such a quick turnaround? I’m planning on sending one but won’t be able to until after this Friday. Also I would just try to find the email of the person you interviewed with by just googling

Where are my week of 10/21 interviewees? How are you guys trying to make these next 24 hours zip by? Wishing the best for everyone!!
