Me too! I still haven't received a secondary and I submitted my primary to them a while ago. I was thinking of emailing admissions to ask if this was an error but I don't know if I will yet. Don't know if I'm ready to get my feelings hurt lol

I got a secondary email Wednesday of last week (10/28) and was complete ~07/15, so there's definitely still movement. I wouldn't lose hope!

My interviewer said anywhere from 2-3 weeks! I really hope it wasn't an underestimation because that seems to be a relatively short turnaround time when compared to other schools.

Hmm, from what I've seen it's more like 2 to 3 times the number of matriculants. (Usually closer to 2x)
So if there are 130 matriculants, then they're likely going to accept 260+ as many will end up matriculating to another school. However, with things being virtual this year, I wouldn't be surprised if more people decide to attend all of their interviews rather than dropping them after acceptance at their top choice. If this is the case, then they may have to accept even more students. Disclaimer: I'm no expert and I may very well be wrong haha.

I also think that the trend for most schools is to accept at least double the class size. Especially since Cal Med is a newer school and might lose potential matriculants to more established schools in CA.

I interviewed on 10/23 and did NOT receive any information until the week of my interview. You will be given quite a bit of information to go over. I encourage you to go through everything thoroughly! It will help you in preparing for your interview.

Nope! Tomorrow will be 3 weeks for us. They could be taking longer than last year for whatever reason. From last year’s forum, applicants that were waitlisted weren’t notified until later in the cycle. If I don’t hear anything tomorrow I think I’ll call them on Monday.

According to CUSM's page on MSAR, the earliest date they're sending out As is November 27th. So, it appears my interviewer may have been misinformed 🙁 can anyone confirm/disconfirm? I apologize for getting people's hopes up prematurely.

I had to double check on MSAR and you are correct. November 27 is the earliest date an acceptance will be issued. I won't even be able to eat Thanksgiving turkey now! Last year they were notified earlier.

I loved my interview! This is my number one choice.

It was a similar date on MSAR during the last cycle but they began sending out acceptances way before then. So you never know! At my interview, I was told that "no news is good news." Nothing we can really do except just wait and hope for the best!

I called them yesterday. All I was told was that they do rolling admissions and that I’d be notified of their decision via email.

Ahh, I didn't catch the "In state" part. Thanks for the clarification. In regards to the Post II acceptance, I think we can make an educated guess based off of MSAR data from last year.

Applied (In-State): 2,738
Interviewed (In-State): 368
Matriculated (In-State): 82

So if there are 82 in-state matriculants, they likely accepted 150-180 applicants. And so the in-state post-II acceptance rate would likely be somewhere between 40.7 to 48.9% for last year. This year is a totally different ball-game since they may be giving out more ii's given that things are virtual.

Based on previous years data, and from my rough calculations on what I expect this year to look like from the total number of interviews, I would say that that 40.7-48.9% range is a fair estimate. Regardless, I wouldn't get too worked up about it though. No matter when you interview you have a solid chance of getting accepted, and there is a lot of waitlist movement here so even if you're not outright accepted there's still hope to be had!

It's open file, so make sure you know every little detail and be prepared to talk about it! 🙂 I was even asked about things I wrote in my previous AMCAS. But don't feel too pressured, they made me feel very welcome and comfortable.
