Can any current students talk about cool student organizations/interest groups at the school? Someone earlier in the thread mentioned an arts in medicine group but I can't find it anywhere online (school's website, YouTube, google).

Hi, current student here. Arts in Medicine (AIM) is pretty active - they've done some purely artistic events like school talent shows, also some crafty academic stuff like sessions for drawing structures and making a cardboard + plastic model of the perineum (it was actually really helpful for understanding how the parts fit together). Not sure if they have an external-facing web or FB page (or that any other CUSM student group does either), but I can vouch for AIM as a fun group. We have a plethora of specialty-related groups. Emergency Med, Neuro and Surgery groups are among the most active. They typically host outside speakers, but also have skills workshops and shadowing. One of my favorite events was the saw bones workshop that the Ortho Surg group arranged at Children's in LA. There's a general Research Interest Group that does an annual poster- and research-presentation day, and there's a large Cancer Research & Action Group with several student-led research projects plus a very active PI (at least 5 papers accepted this past summer). There's a new Diversity interest group that has had game nights and other interactive sessions. We have a Street Medicine group with strong leadership although their main focus was helping with a homeless census, which is on hold during the pandemic (or at least student participation in it is on hold). CUSM punched way above its weight in last year's MedFest "med school Olympics" which USC Keck hosts. I was proud of all our athletes. 🙂 Last but not least, we've had very enthusiastic elected reps to AMA and California Med Ass'n, and there are several school committees with student rep positions: Curriculum Committee, Med School Council, that type of thing.

Feel free to message me if you want to know more.

I’m IS and I haven’t gotten a secondary from them. I’m getting a feeling my numbers are too low...

I think I'm in the same boat too - numbers too low.

IS and in the IE. The school is in my local neighborhood.

That being said, I did get a secondary from UCR, so who knows.

CUSM is generally a high mcat school I think, and it says here they prefer MCATs over 504.

There’s all sorts of interest groups here, from the super niche to the general ones that a lot of people are in. Are there any specific questions you have or anything in particular you want to know?

Thank you! Just sent you a PM!

Yeah, I'll send you a PM! Thank you!

I emailed them and they're apparently still looking through applications pre-II.

I'm not too sure if that was a generic email or not, but they're apparently not done with handing those things out.

Hi friends, for those of you who have been accepted, how long did it take you to get your paperwork to sign? It’s been over a week since my last correspondence with them and I’m just wondering if that’s normal.

I was accepted Nov. 24th and haven't received the paperwork yet lol

I reached out and adcom replied that they're still working on finalizing the documents and they'd contact us soon regarding the required papers. So it appears no one's received the documents yet so nothing to worry about! @anon.jellyfish

does anyone know if they are done with decisions from 11/6 interviews?

For all my waitlisted peeps I just spoke with admissions and they gave me a couple insights. First, they accepted a lot of people from the waitlist last cycle - which is both encouraging and expected with it being a newer school. Second, they do not rank their candidates (at least that's what they told me) because their waitlist apparently changes weekly.

Moral of the story for those of us who are waitlisted or who interview later in the cycle: there's always hope!

I’m definitely hoping for a II, though it is late ;n;.

has anyone from oct or early nov interviews not heard back? not even a rejection or waitlist

Nope. According to last year's thread, anyone ghosted post-II was rejected towards the end of the cycle, so I have already marked this as an R.

To the people who got interview invites before submitting a secondary: how was your interview? Did you get A or WL or R?

To anyone that's interviewed already, how long does the entire interview process take? My interview is fast approaching and I still need to tell my boss if I'll be available in the afternoon or not 😅

From looking at the schedule

If you are in the morning you'll finish at 2:15 PM, for the afternoon group around 3:15 PM.

Good luck with your interview

Have y’all received a physical acceptance letter yet? I’ve been keeping an eye out for it and I’m concerned

For those who got the docusign email today, signing it isn’t saying you are committing to enroll right?

I am still waiting on my DocuSign. May I ask when you were accepted?

I'm guessing the school is no longer giving out any type of correspondence? =/
