WL, interviewed 11/20. I feel so numb to everything this cycle. I got a low tier WL after being post-interview deferred for 6 months from my dream school just last week. Just feels like I'm taking one insult after another (though I know a lot of you feel this way too). Sending everyone love and hope for better news later this cycle.
I feel you!! I got WLed at my other interview after I thought I did well and that my app was a good fit for the school :/

WL interviewed 1/22. Is there any reason to hope for an acceptance? lol seems like a lot of waitlists...like is it a soft R? ):
40% of the incoming class is from the waitlist!! So if you factor in how many people from the waitlist retracts their application, and that only 100 people are put in the waitlist, chances are pretty good!!

I think this is not terrible news, keep your head up the email says they anticipate big WL movement! If you dont mind sharing your stats, I would really appreciate it!

They do anticipate big WL movement and they do get big WL movement!! Also, I know it sucks to be in the situation with your dream school; I got a pre-II R from WSU (which is my undergrad and grad institution, so that stung), but it's important to keep your head up. Regardless of where you go, people will still call you "doctor"!!!!!

Hello everyone! Does anybody know when waitlist movement even begins to occur? Do they wait until all decisions are released, or do they start picking people off the waitlist as soon as people start denying their acceptance??

Edit: Just looked at last year's thread. It looks like acceptances off the waitlist will start toward the end of April.

this may have been said already, but do they send post-II R's/have they yet? Just wondering if those who haven't heard simply haven't heard yet, or if there's a higher chance for R's.

I also completely understand that we would not have the answer to this, but hoping there are lurkers who have some sort of general idea.

Post-II R’s are usually sent out during the week all decisions are sent out. I’m not quite sure if they do it every time or not.

I have seen a couple post-II R. I interviewed 1/15 and I remember seeing someone posting that they got an R from my interview date two weeks after!

Does anyone know how many acceptances they give out? I know they waitlist 100 people, but does anyone know if they initially accept more than the class size of 104?

MSAR shows they waitlist around 100 and accept 60. So regardless of whether they intially accept more than the class size or not, we should see the same amount of movement (hopefully more this cycle).
Really hope we see big WL movement this year. I know with virtual interviews there are people with 5+ acceptances and others like myself with none, so hopefully they turn CMU down 🤞

It's definitely interesting to see what'll happen this year. With virtual interviews, people that otherwise can't travel for an interview could make it happen this year. I'm not sure if schools gave out more II's because it's easier for them to conduct a greater number of interviews, as well. It could go either way with WL movement tbh.

After not checking the thread for a week and then coming back this morning....(interviewed in January)

For ppl who have been accepted, how long after your acceptance did you get the option to use the "choose your medical school" tool on AMCAS? Like did it happen immediately/did it take some time?

I was accepted back in October, but on the first day that CYMS opened I was able to to use the tool.

I was accepted on Tuesday and did not see the option yesterday when I checked.

Yeah, definitely a good mcat score and above the median for this school. Are you on the waitlist?
Lol I got rejected and did not get an II. I believe my Casper results were subpar. Message to anyone applying next cycle; prepare well for Casper

Any idea when more decisions could go out for those of us still waiting post interview?
It's hard to say. Last year I interviewed in the Fall and didn't hear anything until April. I interviewed January this year and have yet to hear anything as well. I imagine April/May will be crunch time for decisions.

Have they offered scholarships to anyone yet??
I received a scholarship offer today. I submitted my Fafsa in early/mid March. I’m not sure what the rest of my finaid package is looking like though
