Any idea when more decisions could go out for those of us still waiting post interview?
They said during my interview (mid-February) to not expect much until April. But I've seen people on here who interviewed later than me and have already been accepted, so idk how I feel about that 🤒

I received a scholarship offer today. I submitted my Fafsa in early/mid March. I’m not sure what the rest of my finaid package is looking like though
I also received one today! Thanks for the response though!

I interviewed mid-November and still have not heard back (pretty ridiculous). I don't plan on attending here but I really wanted to see their decision since I am not by any means rural and was really intrigued by their interview questions. Will probably just email them to withdraw this week on the off chance that a potential A goes to someone who would appreciate it more than I would.

It's me, I'm someone 🙋‍♂️

I realized that there was supposed to be a Road to Matriculation Series event this month, though I haven't gotten an email about it... has anyone gotten this email?

Interviewed in October ... still have not heard back. With an acceptance at OUWB with partial scholarship, I think I might just withdrawal my application. Very dissatisfied with how CMED has communicated with applicants

It's so hard to hear your frustration with this site-wide word changes. Application is changed, lol.

Why are the words changing on this site lol... and I’m glad I’m not the only one who has been waiting for a response for almost 6 months

Anyone know when WL movement typically occurs? I've heard towards the beginning of May, but am wondering if there have been students in years past that have been notified in April?

I saw in last year's thread that WL movement started like April 30th or something. I think they're trying to get all the initial decisions out before having WL movement (I'm assuming they want to send out all their post-II A's before they start accepting students off the WL).

Hey, are there any current students on here that can speak on having tattoos? Just want to get a heads-up on the school-specific culture as I know it can be pretty all over the board as far as letting them show. Thanks!

Do any current students have tips about apartment hunting and the best time to move? I'm moving from the east coast, was hoping to move a week before orientation or so, but I'm not sure if there are funky timings with how the leases work in Mount Pleasant?

Does anybody have any insight on when CMU will release decisions? I'd assume that, now, the next set of released decisions will probably be the last or close to the last before WL movement occurs.

Not one clue... I really hope its sometime soon though

They updated the road to matriculation dates on the portal so I imagine we will be getting an email regarding that soon just a heads up for people hoping for news soon (including myself)

I just scrolled through last years thread. Decisions seemed to gradually increase as April 30th approached with the most decisions coming on/after May 1st due to WL movement.

Yeah so most leases start mid August which is problematic for M1s because your orientation starts at the beginning of August. With the way things are going though, things might be online but they may need you to come to campus to take your picture and pick up your cmed laptop. If you're able to commute then you can probably hold off on moving to Mt Pleasant otherwise I'd suggest finding a place with early move in. Some places do allow move ins months ahead of time but it all depends on when you want to move to the area.

Ughh. I'm from New England so I definitely can't commute 🤣. any idea when the school will commute something official about it? If I need to move earlier than anticipated, that's gonna involve a bit more planning...

Has anyone that has not heard back yet, sent a letter of intent? I interviewed in November and it has been silent night since then but I know most people send letters of intent after like a waitlist decision?

It won't hurt if you've already sent an update. I think a LOI would be more effective now than once you get on the WL.

Still nothing for me 😅
It's actually ridiculous ... I'm glad I got into another MD state school cause I'm extremely unimpressed by CMED's communication (worst communication of all the schools I applied to). Nonetheless, I don't question that prestige of their education, but something about admissions needs to change. I talked to a current M1 and even he said things are wonky

I just called admissions because I interviewed exactly 6 months ago and still haven’t received a decision. They said that they’re hoping to send out the rest of their decisions within the next 2 weeks

@Med_For_Life did you say earlier in the cycle that you had a connection/knew someone in admissions at CMED? Have they said anything else about decisions?

Sorry about hearing so late, too - in the boat of still not hearing anything and know it's not fun at all
Somebody said in the thread that they should have the rest of initial decisions out in the next 2 weeks. Trust me, I know it sucks. I interviewed 10/24 and didn’t hear back till just about a month ago. 🙁

One of my friends is a current M1 and they said they got in off the WL in the big surge that happened 4/29-5/1. They also said most of the M1 class came in off of the WL, and a good majority of them heard even into June. They also spoke volumes about the curriculum and how flexible they've been throughout the pandemic. I know this doesn't ameliorate how awful communication has been, but it's at least a lot better once you get past admissions. It's one of the few things keeping me hopeful after what's been a sucky application cycle

CMU is a newer medical school, so I don't blame them for how wacky communication is from them. Admissions procedures aren't standardized across the board, and they only have loose expectations to go by (need a primary, secondary, and interview). I'm sure that as time goes on, they'll get better as they figure things out. I would assume that competing schools don't really want to give out any information that would make CMU better in that department, for obvious reasons, so they're probably stuck in figuring out how to do everything on their own.

In regard to curriculum, the way that schools do things is pretty standard, even if there is no one standard curriculum. All the schools know that they have to teach for Step 1, and since a lot of the teaching materials is made public, it's expected of the school that their curriculum and flexibility is up to par with the resources that are available to them in that department.

This is just some possible explanations for the circumstances, but I don't blame them if they don't have the admissions process down to a science like some other medical schools that have been around for nearly a century.
