Hello! I am trying to work on the secondary and wanted to know about how to answer the campus preference question. I am a low stats student. I would like to go to NY since I am closer to NY but it honestly does not matter as long as I get in either of them! how did everyone else respond to this question: based on your stats or based on where you really wanted to go? thanks
I would take stats out of it when answering. I too also specifically said NY, but mentioned I am open to learning at both campuses. Just say your reasons for New York, but also indicate both campuses for your preference. I think that's what I did.

thanks! will do!

For the letter of rec requirements, it's 4 right? 2 science, 1 non-science, 1 md/do?

Sorry for this overly neurotic post but does anyone know if they are super strict on the 10 day secondary turnaround? My initial secondary invite was received on 6/19 and It got sent to my spam (RIP) and I didn’t see it till over a week later so I ended up completing it after ~2 weeks instead of 10 days. It was still relatively quick but after 10 days :/

I turned it in a month later by accident

It's just a recommendation turn around time. If you turn it in after the 10 days it just pushes you further back in the line for processing, thus your secondary application will be seen later in the cycle. The only school I've seen give a hard turn around time was KCUCOM and they specifically stated in their secondary email that they would withdraw your application entirely if they didn't receive it within the time frame.

Also Liberty has a strict 2 week cut off. I submitted mine to NYIT after 2 weeks

In past cycles, NYIT has sent reminders to applicants months after the two weeks asking to submit the secondary. So you should be fine!

Went to a virtual info session earlier. Interviews should be happening starting late august to mid september ish. It's possible to get an interview without an mcat score but no decision will be made until they receive your score
Thanks for the update! How did you find out about the virtual info session?

The actual interviews will start then or the invites will start coming out in that period?

If the actual interviews are starting late August then the invites should be coming ASAP I’d think

It could also start in like mid-september. He just gave like a time range of when interviews might start. Someone asked when interview invites are coming out and he just said soon lol

Ahh I see. Thanks for the info though!

I hope soon means within a week soon haha

Also last year the first interview date was about a month after the first II went out. So if that gap remains the same then we should be seeing the first ones come out within a week for sure!

I also attended the session. They also mentioned that all interviews would be online throughout the entire cycle. It sounded like they said II's would come out late August and early September. But since it's online, I wouldn't be surprised if they start conducting them within a few weeks of the II!

Hi, I just paid for my secondary and submitted it but did not recieve any confirmation of my payment or anything? Everytime I log onto the supplemental application, I dont see anything about it being complete?

Email from NYITCOM should come a day later. However, confirmation for the payment should as soon as you submit (via email) !

I understand but can you tell me if you log in to the supplemental portal after submitting it, does it say anywhere that you submitted it?

Okay it shows me my picture at the top with all my answers to the secondary and then says Application Complete! Hope that helps!

does anyone have an idea of what the acceptance letter looks like? who signs the bottom, what it says, etc?

Hi y'all, I ended up submitting my secondary a bit past a month late... do y'all think that that will look bad on my candidacy? :/
I don’t think you should worry about it!! Especially if you have good stats !

My guess is they’ll send New York/Arkansas residents interviews first since the school is so in state heavy

so is it safe to say we probably won’t hear back until next week most likely by the earliest?

Tbh it definitely could come this week
Last year they first came out August 6th so who knows how much they’ll be delayed by the pandemic

for those that submitted secondaries before LORs, did you get an updated/complete email after the LORs were received and how long was the turnaround? Just wondering bc I received an incomplete email within an hr of submitting secondary but haven't heard anything since LORs were received. just gauging processing times before I reach out.

No. I waited almost 2 weeks and then emailed them asking if they had received my LOR. Someone then emailed me back to let me know that they have received my LOR and my app was complete. My impression is that they are not sending complete emails.

I received a complete email but only in response to an email inquiry first.

This is the exact same thing I did as well. Never received a complete email but emailed them making sure my letters were OK and they said my app was complete and under review now

Same. I called their admissions office and was told all my letters were received and I was complete, but never got an email

I'm 4th year student at Old Westbury, often lurking about on SDN so if you have any questions about NYITCOM feel free to ask me here or PM.

Hey what type of population do we serve at the Old Westbury, NY location? I see that there are a lot of community clinics in that area they do for underserved communities in harlem but wasn't sure about Old Westbury if it's a diverse area

Old Westbury is an affluent area, but there are many underserved communities in Nassau County a bit further south.

The free clinic is based in Central Islip, it sees a ton of immigrants and others from underserved communities.

Do they send you complete emails? I had all my LORs sent over a week ago and I haven't gotten an email saying my app was complete

I don’t think NYITCOM has sent interviews for either campus as of rn

Just got a secondary. I have a feeling all applicants get one, yes?

I like the options of the NY location (and diversity of NYC) but the cost of living concerns me. Can anyone speak to that?

I was at this virtual session that NYITCOM hosted and it seems like most students live with roommates to save on rent (~$800/per person). There are additional expenses to think about like utilities, groceries, and car if you choose to have one. I remember a student was saying that her roommate who doesn't have a car would hitch a ride with her and take the shuttle when schedules don't fit.

Thanks for the info. I have a car, but I have a feeling if I end up living on the east coast I may not bring it with me.

Feeling a bit grumbly about the recruitment email today. We know you're awesome! That's why we applied!
I didn't get this :blackeye:
I also heard people are getting calls from admission clarifying apps and insinuating September interviews? Can anyone back this up

I didn't get a recruitment email but I did just get a reminder to submit the secondary I received last week. Unless that's what the OP meant.

Really need to finish writing those secondaries...

How long did it take to receive a secondary? I submitted my primary on July 28th and still no secondary.
