2021-2022 Drexel

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Among all this, I wanted to check with others. Holding/accepting the spot is not binding, correct? I know the deposit is non-refundable, but it doesn't say anywhere whether or not choosing to hold the acceptance is binding or not. I don't think it is, but wanted to check with the other neurotic/anxious pre-meds (all of us?) before doing anything.

Also, with the not getting an email yet (if you were expecting to), you might be deferred and receive that email Monday. Clearly that's not a death sentence, as a good portion of the acceptance reports today (including me) came from deferred applicants. I sent an update letter between deferral and decision, so if you have something to report, couldn't hurt! Don't lose hope! That also being said, if you were later on in November and don't hear back Monday, there's also a good chance you'll fall into the next decision date. They seem to be a bit sporadic.

Good luck y'all! Everyone deserves a spot, and don't let a lack of news bog you down! It'll all work out 😀

If you did not receive a decision today and were expecting to, you were likely deferred. Based on this thread, deferral emails are sent on the Monday after the decision date in the portal (ie 3 days from now). If you don’t hear back by Monday or Tuesday, you will have to wait until next month.
thank you!! I didn't know that. congrats to everyone who did get the A today!

It shouldn't be binding! You don't actually confirm the school you're going to until April 30th at least and that's through the AAMC choose your medical school tool

I forget where I heard this but apparently last year a lot of schools sent out more IIs than usual because they could hear from good applicants all over the country after going virtual for interviews, but it didn't end up mattering much. So this year they're being more cautious instead and sending their normal number of IIs. Probably has to do with them playing with the waitlists now too
I heard something similar, but for totally different reasons. My understanding is that last year, schools increased the number of IIs to accommodate the huge surge in applications, and in order to build a larger than normal WL out of fear that people would hoard IIs and As, and they would have a lot of seats to fill in late April and beyond. The intense competition for seats made that fear unfounded, and WL movement was actually similar to or less than normal at most schools.

As a result, and because applications have dropped back significantly from last year, schools have cut back IIs this year. I haven't heard that anyone is going to be more conservative with As, other than those few schools that found themselves oversubscribed last year. In addition, everyone has been looking for increased WL movement every year since the MAR went bye-bye in 2019. Since I am already on a few WLs, and expect to be on a few more before all is said and done, I sure hope this is the year those perennial predictions come true! 🙂

Significant other and I both received IIs last week (coincidental timing). Just wanted to let the people know that when I scheduled my interview date, there were still PLENTY of open interview slots throughout all of Feb. Stay positive if you haven't heard anything yet, though that's easier said than done.

If your coursework changed after submitting your AMCAS primary, how do you indicate that to Drexel on the interview portal? I want to tell them about a stat class I took (and got an A in) but the only way to manually input a course is to click the future registration button. So I am confused.

Also, is interviewing in March basically interviewing for a WL position?

Thanks!

I just submitted a copy of my unofficial transcript to the portal show my new GPA and the classes I took in the fall.

I heard there’s still plenty of spots for them to fill so I think you’re good with your interview date!

Another 11/8 interviewer here and haven't heard anything yet. Has anyone tried reaching out to them to see if we were supposed to be part of the recent decision date?

I was also interviewed on 11/8, but I have received a defer email last Fri.

I have my interview tomorrow and was wondering if anyone had any tips/advice? Anything is welcome. Thanks!

Don't stress too much about it, but make sure you have some answered prepared and expect some follow-up questions. My student interview was SUPER chill and it really just felt like general conversation. 2/10 for stress. My faculty interviewer was very nice, but tougher. He questioned a lot of the things I said and drilled a lot of questions. It was still fairly conversational, but I was surprised by the intensity. I'd say it was a 6/10 stress-wise, but then I did a decent amount of prep. Every interviewer is different, but I'd just make sure you have good thought processes/reasons to back up a few of your answers. Good luck!

Piggy backing on Sassypug101, Yes just be YOU! Don't be surprised if the interviewer keeps it casual. In fact, for me, the interviewer knew my application in and out, so know your application by heart. My interviewer was very engaged and talked alot about his work (Faculties love talking about themselves). If this happens, really try to have a conversation and don't be tempted to sway the conversation back about you. In fact, I'd say ask more questions about his interests and maybe add something about yourself to the programs he/she talks about. Good luck! 🙂

Anyone gotten off of hold yet. I wonder if there will be movement for that this year

Are we assuming that early Nov interviews who didn’t hear back will receive a deferred decision? I was gonna send an update letter after not getting the A on Friday, but I’m hesitant to after still not receiving anything.

I don't know, and none of us non-adcoms know, but looking at last year's SDN, Drexel is following a very very similar trajectory. In February 2021, the acceptances for people that were not previously deferred spanned for interviews from 11/16 to 12/7. I would guess it will be similar this time, if not pushed back a bit more. That being said, I wouldn't say you are deferred until you receive a notification that you are deferred. Maybe they only did half the batch of early-mid November interviewees and didn't get to you. Even if you did get deferred and they didn't tell you yet, you could still get in in the February group! Good luck either way!

Interviewed 01/26! Recieved II 01/4. Sorry about the late post! Hoping this leads to an A, admissions said decisions will take 8-9 weeks.
Did you get your interviewers info ahead of time? My interview is tomorrow and I still don't have the zoom links lol

Same! It says its at 8:30am, do you know if that's EST or PST (I'm on PST so wasn't sure if they adjusted for me on my portal or not). Good luck tomorrow!

It's EST unfortunately lol, I'm also on the west coast

I was accepted back in December but still haven't heard of any accepted students groups or anything. Has anyone else found one or been invited to one?
