Well crazy timing, I just got my first phase review complete email lol

It has been almost 7 weeks since I received the first phase complete email. Was told to "please allow 2-4 weeks for this process to be completed," so I'm not sure what is taking them so long. Why even offer a timeline if you can't stick with it?

I think with this school, as with others, the key is to be patient. During my interview they said they expected to receive more applications than last year. While I can't speak on the process of moving through these apps, I'm sure it's a very time consuming process. Keep the faith!

same, its been over two months.

Hi everyone! I'd highly suggest sending an update letter or at least checking in with admissions if you haven't heard anything. I emailed them an update letter at around lunchtime and just got confirmation it has been added to my file and the first phase review complete email at the same time. Might help push things along. 🙂 Best of luck!

I'll update if I get anything else. Obviously can't say much yet but I'm sure I'll be in the same boat as you guys, waiting longer than 2-4 weeks. Hopefully they're just running a bit slow and catch up soon!

yea, and i figured its too much to email again this time, since i already did for the first email lol

Sooo does this school send automated "complete your secondary" reminders to not everyone or am I being naively optimistic thinking it means something? (Decided not to do this one when I was finishing my others in July)

Based on multiple reported experiences at other schools, don't read into it.

Some schools did targeted outreach to URMs to try to pull them in. For all others, it's a cost free way to pull in incremental secondary fees and/or just to increase the applicant pool, which makes them more selective and helps their ranking.

Someone on another thread reported a very fast R after responding to such a solicitation. Not saying that would happen here with you. Am saying you shouldn't do anything you wouldn't do anyway just because an admission office is inviting you to. Unless, of course, they are willing to waive the fee. In that case, it would be a free shot for you, and you should take it if you have any interest at all.

Figured as much! :/

Is a hold a soft R at this school? Or is there evidence of people getting ii from holds?

Emailed them asking about the status of my app bc I've been stuck in first phase for 8+ weeks. They replied this morning to wait 3-6 more weeks for the next update. Has this school given out rejections yet?

Called the admissions office, they said they won't be giving out decisions for those of us who interviewed in September until the end of December. So buckle up peeps and enjoy your holidays.
Seriously?

I looked up last year's thread, and the first day of As was on 12/21. I'm guessing it will be around the same time this year too.

Yeah, but the year before it was mid November and last year they didn't start interviewing until the end of October. Oh well, regardless.

How do I send an update? Do I just email them with the update or is it through the portal?

Has anyone attended one of the in-person tours yet? What is the attire that people usually wear? Not sure if I should plan to dress like I’m attending an interview (ex. wear a blazer) even though we won’t be interviewing in person.
I give tours. You do not have to dress up whatsoever. Jeans and whatever you are comfortable in are just fine.

It's a fasted paced curriculum without breaks. Lots of info and little time. I can tell you for certain there are not enough breaks and sometimes you just need to fall behind and take one on your own. The teaching is honestly all over the place and depends on who is teaching. Sometimes good sometimes bad. Every course with exception of anatomy is very manageable. Lots of active learning, small group stuff, TBL all jammed in the weeks as well. Are the professors competent? For the most part, I would say, though there are some that should not be teaching. The exams are from in-house lectures and definitely are fair.
Yeah I don't agree with this whatsoever. There aren't any professors that should not be teaching. This isn't college where professors have to teach to fund their research, everyone involved is genuinely passionate about medical education.

Not really insightful nor unique it's a lot of things that you already know about, you will find the curriculum in some form or another in every medical school. Time commitment varies, the class runs every other week for 2 hours of large group then 2 hours of small group for phase 1. Then in phase 2 it's reduced to a 2 hour meeting every 6-8 weeks. Outside of that, you have a few things. A community health project which can vary in time commitment depending on what community partner you are assigned to. You and a classmate are also paired with a community member and have to have a call with them every month or so for an hour.

I'm not considering skipping 4th-year atm since I want a surgical subspecialty. Can't comment on that experience at this point since I don't know anyone who has done it.
Once again do not agree whatsoever. Formed super meaningful and impactful relationships through the Human Dimensions program that I think helped shape my career goals. If you value community involvement, it is a genuinely awesome experience and has really helped along the residency interview trail for me as well.

Does anyone have an idea when decisions will come out? I know someone called and they said it will come out the end of December but I doubt decisions will come out the week between Christmas and New Years. Does this mean it will be the week before Christmas or will it be in 2022?

Best,

An applicant who just wants to hear hopefully good news for the first time this cycle

My prelim review started on 8/19 and I haven't received any communication since... should I email them and ask for an update?

I received beginning preliminary review email on 8/19 no communication since so I emailed a few weeks ago and received the response that it was being reviewed and they would contact me if they needed more info.

EDIT- hadn't checked my spam, got a first phase complete a minute before they emailed back

1v1, 30 minutes. Very conversational. Admissions Day is on a separate day and was about 3-4 hours.

Mine was one on one. It probably lasted around 30 min. I don't remember if it was open or close file tbh.
My interview was very conversational and relaxed. My interviewer took the time to ask me about all of my experiences, and really wanted to learn more about them. We ended up having a really great and interesting conversation. Probably one of my fav interviews!

Should September interviewers who didn’t get called assume it’s a WL/r
