I cannot seem to find Hackensack's post II acceptance rate? Does anyone know what it is?

Yea there is definitely time to do research in phase 1. Once you figure out your studying routine you should be able to find time for research. I started middle of 1st year, some of my friends have been doing research even longer. MS2 here.

The network is quite large and there are a ton of physicians doing research in many different fields. Shouldn't be an issue finding research even in more competitive specialties.

Anything you find about Hackensack's post interview acceptance is going to be meaningless because the class size has consistently grown as it's a newer school and will finally meet its goal size of 165 for the incoming class. If it helps, I was told they received 6000 applications for this cycle.

I got the preliminary review e-mail 8/24, I emailed 10/22 about it being over 8 weeks since my last communication and today I received the notification of First Phase complete. No idea if it had any effect at all!

I wonder if it has always said Oct 29 or if it's newly updated. It's kind of a random date to put, but hopefully it's tomorrow lol

IIs didn’t go out until later last year either, so December would make sense, but we’ll see.

Has anyone asked admissions about that? I wasn't sure if it's appropriate to ask when we can expect to hear back.

I’d just presume 4-6 weeks, but I’m just grasping at straws. Trying not to worry about it.
 
Does anyone know if it is likely that people who interviewed before October will hear before thanksgiving? I would be so happy to be sitting at thanksgiving meal with an acceptance and not having to explain to my family that I'm applying and hoping to go to med school next year.
 
I got my prelim review email on 9/7... should I reach out. It's been past the 6 weeks.
 
Just got an email that looks like I was placed on hold. I looked back at previous SDN threads and they thought it was a hold as well.

"Thank you for your interest in Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine. The initial review of your application is complete and will remain in this status as we continue to evaluate candidates. Throughout our review process your application will be evaluated for possible advancement. If additional information is needed we will reach out via email."

Just got this too. This is legit my 6th hold of the cycle. Absolutely ridiculous at this point Smh.

When were you complete? When did you get other emails?
 
Has the school given out any rejections?
 
I don't understand the idea of a "hold". Given I am a re-app who received tons of pre-II holds last cycle only to be rejected by every place in April.
 
I didn't get a hold yet. I have been under review for course work (after first phase complete) since Oct 6.

Complete email:

Hold email:
"Thank you for your interest in Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine. The initial review of your application is complete and will remain in this status as we continue to evaluate candidates. Throughout our review process your application will be evaluated for possible advancement. If additional information is needed we will reach out via email."

It’s looking like the people who got the hold email never got the prelim review complete email.

Theoretically yes. Hold means I've read through portions of your app and don't want to extend you an interview at this moment (might give you one later in the cycle). Complete means you might not have been reviewed yet, or I've reviewed it but haven't notified you of my decision.

I got that email 10/6 and nothing after. Not sure why this school seems to get back to some people faster then others... Some people have been under pre lim review for like 4 months.

They stratify their apps just like any other school, presumably, and decide to update you along the way.
 
Are LOIs appropriate at this time if you were in the first wave of interviews in September?

I believe so. My guess is that complete means you’re actively being considered for an II and hold means they want to set your app aside and consider it after they’ve completed the review of other applicants. But again nobody really knows what goes on behind the scenes so this is just a guess.
