Does anyone have an idea when is the first day of class and when is the orientation for the upcoming class?

Should I be worried if I have not heard back from interview but see that other people who interviewed after me have gotten a response?

For those who just got accepted, has your MSU portal changed? I interviewed 10/28.

I am currently unable to get US phone calls due to being deployed.

Not yet. But they said it would take a few days. I’d definitely email them and let them know you can’t get phone calls, but I tend to over communicate.

Yeah, this is what I did. Won't really affect me if its a delay of a few days, but I'll still be antsy 😛.

Hi all, I just got my secondary today (yay) and am in the process of completing it. I was just wondering from those of you that have received IIs and As, how important do you think it was to list your clinical experience on the secondary? Did anyone leave it blank and still get an A? In Canada we don't have any DOs to shadow, and also MD shadowing isn't really that standard here, medical colleges sometimes even advise against it. I do have some clinical experience working for a nonprofit clinic but it wasn't under the direct supervision of a specific Physician so I don't know if I should include it in that clinical experience section or not. Thanks!

Can a current msucom student share if classes are mandatory or not?
Also, how is the anatomy labs?

Thank you in advance

I had no DO shadowing but mentioned my interactions with my DO doctors in my secondary responses

Does anyone know if there is an accepted student group chat? If not would anyone be interested in starting a groupme?

I'd say 90% of classes are not mandatory. Occasionally there will be classes you will be required to attend or may be associated with a point towards your grade. Anatomy lab is required. I'm a third year so anatomy labs may have changed since last year they were online, but generally it is set up pretty well although you will be doing most studying and learning on your own before you come to lab, then can ask questions abut cadavers while in lab. There wasn't really a structured lab session, its more open and you come in and look for everything with your group or pod and can ask questions if you are having trouble.

Thank you so much for your response. How about exams? Are they in person or online? I’m just trying to figure out how often i need to commute to the campus before picking my campus.

What's the exam or quizzing style? Is there a quiz every week?

In some cases, attendance is mandatory and in other cases, it isn't. You'll be made aware. Anatomy lab is more of a prosection than a dissection, but still helpful, nonetheless.

Quizzes and exams are online for the rest of this semester and next semester. They're planning on returning to in-person exams the semester following.

Exams during the summer are weekly. They then turn into every other week for the following semester. There isn't a regular "schedule" for quizzes, but be prepared to take one/two weekly.

@D Swiecz Summed it up. After your first semester exams will always be every other week with like 2 exceptions where you take them back to back weeks. In terms of quizzes, it depends on the class. Most courses do not have quizzes, although anatomy and neurology were the two big ones that had them weekly at least for my class.

They are trying to switch back in person but in reality who knows when or if that will happen. Covid numbers are pretty bad again here in Michigan.

Has anyone of the recent interviewees contacted Lyman Mower regarding the delay in the interview decision? Any comment you have had fro the admissions office? I interviewed on 11/11/2021

I am confused because people are hearing back from all interview dates in no specific order. Idk if it will sound pushy to ask someone because it’s not gonna make anything faster

Accepted today, interviewed 10/28. Pretty pumped, as this is easily the best school on my list. Reading over past threads regarding campus selection - Anyone have recent info on the Macomb campus (searching hasn't yielded anything relatively recent)? I'm 32, nontrad, very much not into the party scene and stuff like that.

My campus was EL so I know more about that campus, but a lot of nontrad students tend to stick to Macomb or Detroit. Mostly Macomb I'd say, however we have a decent amount at the EL campus as well. In general, I think Macomb tends to be more attractive for non-trads that don'tt want to be around a bunch of undergrads(EL) or in the city (Detroit). If you have any specific questions shoot me a PM.
