In state, mission group, 5.5 weeks out from what I thought was a really good interview. No change on portal. I feel like the waiting wouldn't be bad if we could just be given a solid timeframe rather than the fuzzy-wuzzies of "oh, maybe it'll be eight weeks out, but sometimes people get earlier decisions, but usually most of the decisions happen in spring, but you never know...."

Has anyone here sent an update letter to the OHSU admissions email/ do they look at update letters?
I’d be curious too because their portal says new letter do not change your file, but if anyone has had a good response for a LOI to OHSU let us know lol. *I would send one asap

Accepted today (1/4) to regular MD program!!!! Interviewed week of 10/25, was never put on hold. Notified via email. IS w/ LizzyM 72. I'm SO excited, this has been my dream school for as long as I can remember! Good luck to everyone!!!!
Congrats!!! I was put on hold last week, and just received my acceptance email today (1/4) as well!

Accepted yesterday 1/7!!
Interviewed MD - 12/14-12/15. I'm over the moon, I ended last year's cycle in the nosebleeds of the waitlist and I cried my eyes out at work when the email came through yesterday. Good luck to everyone and I can't wait to see y'all in the fall.

Surely this is the week my interviewer makes it to the committee meeting right? Literal 3 months later? I'm tired and forgot if I applied to medical school or not
Have you tried emailing them at this point?
During orientation they mentioned the committee only meets once a week on Thursdays for like 4 hours. They also front loaded the interviews this year without adjusting the committee meeting frequency so they are behind this year…

This is interesting… I was not told this during my interview day, but it’s good to know, and help set expectations a bit more.

I have not emailed yet, figured it would just go to Kari and wouldn't make any impact on my app. Mostly just venting at this point and I do have some actual concerns waiting 3 months for an interviewer to talk about you at a meeting is less advantageous than 3 weeks after. But it is what it is

I'm in the exact same boat. Let's hope our interviewers' memories are very very good...

Kari had to step out so we had someone who is more involved in the interview screening/scheduling answering questions from us! Not a formal part of the interviews. She was great though and really answered the questions.

It makes sense. I'm sorry you have to wait so long. I hope you hear back soon!!

Wow that is very interesting.

What would you guys even write in the email? "I'm just checking in to see the status of my application?" I feel like from the committee's POV, they would just think something like "be patient, we'll get to you when we get to you." What do you guys think?

That's what I was thinking. If anyone does it and has success count me in, I just can't see getting any real information from that beyond, "we are working diligently to review apps in a timely manner" etc

During orientation they also mentioned that their goal turnaround is 6 weeks, but realistically due to them being behind it will be closer to 8 weeks, and if you haven't heard anything after 8 weeks you can reach out.

When was your orientation? I interviewed the last week of October and all I remember them saying was that they'd like to get us decisions in a "reasonable amount of time," but they were unable to provide any details about what that timeline might actually look like.

complete 8/3, application was FINALLY processed on 1/4

Any IS people hear anything? Looks like they’re starting to review OOS non-mission based applicants now. Does that mean we’re out of luck lol, my app has been process since 8/5
