I was unconditionally accepted in the fall, but I have this (possibly irrational) fear that I'm going to wake up tomorrow with a chronic illness that disqualifies me from the military... Is there any reason to keep pursuing civilian schools in case this happens or am I over thinking it? Do people ever get medically disqualified at ODS after previously passing?

I think it's wise to pursue a regular school even if to just fend off your fear. I pray I don't get injured playing sports/ exercising, but it's a small possibility. As to medically DQ'd at ODS, no idea. Commissioning coordinator is really helpful and responsive.

Also, if you're accepted to another school that has a final commit to enroll deadline say July 1st or later, I think Navy (not sure about other branches) should have begun ODS before then anyway.

If it's just a random thought, i'd still go through with USU. But if you have a medical history or any other reason to believe that there is a possibility of you getting ill, i would pursue civilian. You miss all the shots you don't take.

Omg are you me??
I’m holding onto a civilian school acceptance for the same reason.

Yes you can be medically disqualified at ODS, it is very rare but it happens. There was a pre-dental student that had a mental breakdown at ODS while I was there, I don't know the details but ODS is frankly a very relaxed environment so it probably included some personal stuff. She stayed in med hold for awhile, not sure where she ended up. I've seen friends and fellow sailors medically disqualified during training pipelines from discovering they had chronic diseases, and friends and sailors who were medically disqualified from their community due to unknown allergies that they discovered in the fleet. They always landed on their feet and were taken care of.

Medical disqualification can happen at any point during your military career, although when this question was raised during a USU tour day, I believe it was said that USU would help you transfer to some other program should you become npq during schooling.

Overall, it ultimately comes down to your own assessment of your health, and your personal risk tolerance.

Any Nov/Dec interviewees hear back yet? I'm amidst my 10-12 weeks post-interview, and the wait is brutal

I interviewed week of oct 25 and haven’t heard anything. I emailed my admissions advisor and she said I was still under review

How long did it take for you guys to go from "complete" on DoDMETS to show an actual status?

From the time I had my exam to being complete took a couple weeks for it to be received by the system, and then a couple more weeks to be cleared, but there are a couple things to consider.
One, the majority of my medical records are from active duty, so the examiner had easy access.
Two, there were a couple things they wanted additional documentation for as part of getting me cleared. Because it was all digital, it was easy to pick out the relevant pages and patient encounters to send over out of the hundreds of pages.

Depending on how the examination goes, the examiner, and the speediness of the physical results being sent over, I've heard of it taking anywhere from a few weeks to months. If you're relatively healthy and a pretty clean history, it should be fairly quick. If there are other issues that need clarifying, like old injuries/surgeries, that could extend the process.

When did people receive information about the specifics/itinerary of their in-person visit? I'm attending the Feb visit day, and logistical details would help me with booking flights and a hotel

They sent an email a few days before. The events last from 8am to 2pm

When should we expect reasonable WL movement? WL on 10/28 with Navy as my top choice. The wait is killing me haha

This has been answered several times in this thread.

WL movement generally starts in late February (albeit very slowly) when AAMC's Choose Your Medical School tool opens. It ramps up in late March to late April when schools have CTE deadlines. Continues into June but at a slower rate. Some students may get off the WL in July/August but it varies from cycle-to-cycle.

Generally, Army sees the most movement and AF/Navy see the least. This also varies from cycle-to-cycle.

Got it. Thanks for the response!

When did you all get an invite to the visit day? I interviewed in January, but I haven’t received an invite to the February visit day. Should I email my admissions counselor about it, or will they email me?

I got mine about a month and a half after I interviewed. About a day or two after, I replied and they told me it was already filled up and bumped me to the next month.

Does everyone get the invitation to visit the campus? Or only people who got accepted ?

Hello, does anyone know the process for withdrawing your application? Should I just email my admissions counselor letting them know?

Interviewed the week of November 17th still silence besides me updating my application with last semesters grades. Should I ask my assigned counselor about the status of my application?

Has anyone received a conditional acceptance while waiting for a medical waiver to be processed? Interviewed 11/9 and was medically disqualified but I submitted a waiver request. Still waiting for any kind of news…

I am in the same boat, I interviewed that week too. I am considering emailing next week since it'll be officially past the 10-12 week mark.

To each their own, but I can pretty much tell you exactly what they're going to tell you: "Your application is in processing, we will contact you when we have an update" or something to that effect lol

If any of you are waiting on a visit day invite, I spoke to my admission’s counselor this morning and she said the only scheduled visit day left is 2/24, and there are no more spots available, which is why they didn’t send out invitations. She said there may be a chance to visit later, but probably not until I know whether or not I’m given a seat.

Anyone get an invite for a Second Look visit to campus today? I was accepted about a month ago and just wondering if anyone else received the same!

Yes! Does anyone know what’s going to be on the agenda?

No idea!
I got my invite a few weeks ago and got an email about checking in earlier this week. Nothing about the agenda, though.
Looking at what happened last year, it's sounds like pre-plague interview day but without the interview, so I imagine there will be a tour, Q&A/meet n greet, lunch. One of the access forms was for the sim center so I figure that'll come up as well.

On the flip side, I haven't been accepted, I'm about to pass Week 15 and still no word. Looking through the forum it sounds like they're backed up.

Yes that is what the first visit to campus was like so I guess I’m just wondering what the difference is with a “Second Look” vs “Post Interview Day” which I attended in December?

Oh okay, I misunderstood. I thought you were referring to just the Post Interview.

Yeah I honestly have no idea, I haven't thought that far ahead.

WL email this morning! Interviewed the week of November 8th.
Ranked branch preference Army > Navy = Air Force.
Same! I interviewed a week prior but I had the same preferences. Partly because I'm prior Army and current Reservist but mostly I don't want to have to get new uniforms and learn a new set of jargon.

Just found out I got alternate status this morning. Interviewed week of November 17th. Does anyone know the chances of getting in off of the alternate list? My guess is chances are very slim. I am currently active duty Army and have to make some very important career decisions shortly, so I can't really afford to wait around if there is not a good shot.

WL email today- interviewed 11/8, seemed from the letter and info that they filled the entire class already. Just waiting for openings now…

WL this morning as well. Interviewed week of Nov. 1st. Army>Navy>Air Force preference

So the alternate list is basically a backup to the waitlist. If the waitlist were to be entirely exhausted and the class still wasn't full then you would be considered. That being said, I don't think this has ever happened. My fiance was alternate listed last year, improved his application, and reapplied and was accepted this cycle. Hope this helps!

That does help, I will start looking towards the next application cycle. Thank you for the help!
