Sorry if this is a stupid question but…What’s a hold status?
Basically, schools want to see what other applicants have to offer before making an interview decision later on. The true meaning differs from school to school, but it's universally seen as admissions saying "hold on until we have more applicants to compare you with."

For some schools, this may mean "your application isn't good enough to be considered at the time, but it also isn't bad enough to be straight up rejected" (this is probably the case for most schools right now). For other schools, it may mean "it's too early and we want to see what other people have to offer before making a decision on you."

Conditional acceptance received today, very grateful and excited. Interviewed the last week of October!
Congrats! Who was your admissions counselor if you don’t mind sharing that info?

I never contacted my admissions counselor throughout the process but I believe im assigned to Ms. Baker?

I've been looking for this info and just decided to compile it myself so I figured some of you might want it as well. Links for sourcing and anything can change so don't hold me to it lol. Basic training dates for each of the three services:

Army DCC: Fort Sill, Oklahoma
12 Jun - 15 July 2022
AMEDD DCC | Fort Sill | Oklahoma | Fires Center of Excellence (army.mil)

Navy ODS: Newport, Rhode Island
8 May - 10 Jun 2022
12 Jun - 15 Jul 2022
Navy Medicine > Accessions > Officer Development School (ODS)

Air Force OTS: Maxwell Air Base, Alabama
15 Jun - 16 Jul 2022

Interviewed early October and still have not heard anything regarding a decision. Should I be worried? USU is one of my top choices so I'm still hoping for good news, it has just been a while!
Same boat as you except I interviewed mid-late October. Did you finish DodMERB and get the clearance email?

****'s sake, I swore to myself I'd never return to Sill...

Hi everyone!
I signed up for 01/13 in person tour and submitted my base access forms before the deadline but haven’t heard back whether everything went through. I assume yes, since I got invited to dinner with students and received instructions for the visit?
I emailed Ms. Baker and heard nothing.
It’s a long drive for me so I don’t want to travel for nothing. Did anyone go in Nov/Dec and was in a similar situation?
Thank you!

I went in Dec and never heard back about my base access form (other than an email saying it was picked up) but everything was good for me. I just got a confirmation email in Nov and the check-in email a few days before.

What did the confirmation email say?

I only got the email about my guest’s info being picked, not mine (I have been unconditionally accepted though, not sure if that matters).

It had links fo fill out the required forms (vaccination, bass access) plus a base map, entry points for various modes of transportation, and a small section on how to dress.

I got an email today saying that they are holding my app for continued review. What does this mean?

How would someone switch between forces? For example, I applied for Navy as my first choice and Air Force as my second, but at this point I think Air Force would be my first choice. I have already interviewed and am awaiting a decision.

If you’re accepted, it will almost certainly be for Navy. You could ask for an Air Force spot, but may have to go on the waitlist and may not get a spot. You could marry someone in the Air Force in school and switch that way.

Do you have experience with the Navy or Air Force?

I don't have experience with either. Thoughts on whether I should email my admissions counselor asking to switch, or would that put my application in a less than positive light?

What’s your reason for wanting to switch your preference?
I've gotten to learn a lot more about medical opportunities in the air force vs navy as well as the services as a whole and think that air force would be more aligned with my interests

PM me if you don’t want to get into specifics. Just trying to gather your actual reasoning because some reasons are actually good reasons to request a switch. Some aren’t.

Hey I plan to attend the USU visit tomorrow! Does anyone know if they will provide breakfast in the morning?

I'm supposed to go to the in-person visit in Feb. Can someone describe what the day was like, including how early it started and how late it ended? Trying to figure out if I should fly in the night before or the morning of

Definitely the day before because you’ll be invited to dinner/drinks with the current students the evening before, which I thought was helpful. The check in process at the base starts at 7:30am and the day will go until 2:00-2:30pm.

The dinner was held at 7pm-10pm the night before.

Post-II R today. Both interviews went well, looks like USU couldn't look past my 3.3 GPA lol. 516 MCAT, interviewed week of 10/18. Visited the campus in-person and liked the school so this news was a bummer. Still waiting for feedback from my admissions counselor. At least I have other options - good luck everyone else still waiting to hear back!

Did anyone else who had to undergo BCT have an issue getting the military member who administered the test to sign off on the document? I went to two different army recruiting centers, and neither place wanted to sign off that they administered the test.

I reached out to the commissioning coordinator and told her about the issue, and she told me just to send her the document without the signatures. I'm just curious if not having the signatures will create problems later down the path.

Just finished both of my interviews today. Is there anything else I should be doing or need to do??

Is there any way to check your status regarding security clearance, similar to the DODMETS website for medical clearance?

I interviewed the week of Nov. 29 and still haven't heard anything from them.

Unfortunately, no. I think if you don’t hear from them (other than someone picking up your forms from DoD SAFE) and at the end get unconditionally accepted - that is essentially your answer.
Good luck! 🍀

Does anyone know if waivers granted by DoDMERB for ROTC will transfer over? Basically, I am asking if I can be disqualified for something that I already received a waiver for a few years ago.

From my medical disqualification letter:

"While I know this news is disappointing, the process “may” not be over for you. Medical waiver
processing is possible. You will not be denied entry to any of the programs listed below,
solely because of a DoDMERB medical disqualification. Any additional medical information you
submit now will be forwarded for the waiver authority’s review. The waiver process, by
program, are below:

Service Academy: If the Admissions Office determines you to be “competitive” for an offer of
appointment, they will automatically initiate your medical waiver process.

National ROTC Scholarship recipients: You will automatically be reviewed for a medical waiver.
On-Campus ROTC (locally awarded by college or university): Your ROTC Commander will make a
decision on initiating a request for a medical waiver.

Other Programs (USUHS, Army direct professional commissions, USMC OCS): Your program will
initiate wavier processing or provide you instructions.

Additionally, if you apply to other service academy or ROTC programs, we will review your
medical file and notify you and the program managers(s) of our findings.

As part of the waiver process, each program may request additional tests, studies, or medical
records. If that occurs, please comply with all request(s) as soon as possible and send all
documentation to the above DoDMERB address.

You will be notified of the waiver decision in two methods: 1) Each program will inform you directly of their waiver decision, and 2) you can track waiver decisions on our web site:
https://dodmerb.tricare.osd.mil. Due to the unique needs of each service or program, it is
entirely possible for one program to grant a waiver even if another does not."

It seems as though disqualifications and waivers are decided based on the specific commissioning source and do not necessarily carry over.

Has anyone been taken off the waitlist? I was put on the waitlist in December interviewed in September. Air force>army>navy. Really getting anxious!
Waiting is the hardest part. USU typically sees a bit of WL movement starting in mid/late Feb. when AAMC's Choose Your Medical School tool becomes available. Then, movement ramps up in mid-March until late April because of deadlines to commit. Movement slows in June and July. It varies from cycle-to-cycle but movement normally stops in July/August.

You could try contacting the security office.
I had someone from the security office get in touch with me when I needed to DoDSAFE over some documents so that might be your best bet. Or you could try calling.
Security and clearance-related things tends to be one of those "no news is good news" kinds of things but personally I like to double up on stuff like that.
Initial investigations tend to take a while but it couldn't hurt to follow up to see if you needed to send or clarify something.

Did any of you guys take any paperwork to your eye exam? The only packet I have access to was for the physical exam? Thanks in advance.
