2023-2024 Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine (BCOM)

yes, 496-498 completed 9/5 II 10/15, interviewed 11/7, waitlisted 11/21 ):
They have a lot of waitlist movement, so I wouldn’t be too concerned.

BCOM Interviews until May 2024, BCOM interviews on a rolling basis which means they put applicants in one of three categories: accept, deny, waitlist.

Based on the comment section, it appears they interview and send out acceptances to those with high stats and then "re-review" others later. Thus, it takes until may 2024. Does not seem like anyone has been rejected so those may come in a wave at a later date.

Definitely a reassuring comment lol. Burrell is one of my top choices and I’m anxiously waiting

Anyone know when scholarship offers would be made? Or would that happen later in the cycle?

Hi everyone, in a bit of a pickle. I scheduled an interview with Burrell on 12/8 (next Friday) from 1-5 MT but my boss wants me to come in that Friday because she said we’re understaffed. Should I reach out to Burrell to reschedule to another date this month? I would feel bad calling out sick when I’m not. What would y’all do because at the same time i heard the earlier my interview the better before slots fill up

(without knowing your job and responsibilities) I personally wouldn't call out sick, I would tell them that you have a medical school interview already scheduled and that you are unable to work that Friday... or you could call out sick tbh. If they are really that understaffed then they can find someone else, seeing as you have important prior commitments and were not originally scheduled to work.

This is just me, but I‘d never prioritize employment over medical school.

I’m not? Just didn’t want to leave my colleagues hanging and already spoke to my boss about interviewing on that day.

I hear your sentiment and it really is kind of you to consider them and their well being, but if you push your interview back for the sake of not leaving people hanging at work, I see that as prioritizing employment over medical school, which I‘d personally not do. It’s up to you though at the end of the day. I‘m sorry if my comment came across the wrong way. Typically, later interview = slightly less chance at an A, so my advice was to not push your interview date back for any reason related to a job.

I would call-out. Tell your boss you’re applying to medical school and have an interview. This is a once I’m a lifetime opportunity.

Through the email they* sent after confirming
yea i figured that but when I click the button it just takes me to the portal to sign the confidentiality form. Theres no scheduled times to choose from.

Do you guys think I’d have a chance at an II with a 496/3.5 ish? not the best stats but I have really good ECs and personal statement
You honestly might have a better chance then me, I been waiting since August, mcat was a 489 and gpa of 3.45, at first got rejected for the secondary, but after reconsidering they sent it, I been complete since August

you think theyre going by order, i was complete by early october 😳

If you don't get any response by next year, I recommend that you retake the MCAT. A 489 will seriously show once you're in medical school (regardless of the name or prestige) and the risk of remediation is very high if you have not learned how to study effectively or take a test. Sure, our average stats are somewhat a bit lower than the national averages, but it doesn't mean you don't take big tests anymore. Every 2 weeks you're always going to take a big test that can determine whether you can move on or not in your current year.

does anyone have the link for discord?
what goes on in discord? I am not familiar with it. Am i missing out on anything? and how is it different than SDN?
not much goes on, pretty sure the link is in the acceptance email
Correct, the link will be in your offer email. The discord is used for students who have been offered admission and gives them a place to ask questions directly to more students like housing, events, and other campus-specific topics!

I am registered for the 03/09/24 MCAT and the scores will be released on 04/09/24. Too late to apply for this cycle?

When does BCOM usually send out rejection? I was fully submitted 10/4, but haven't heard anything back at all? I have a strong mission fit and connections to El Paso and would love to go here.

It does seem like Burrell sends out invites based on stats, i would keep an eye out until they’re done interviewing in April

do you guys know how to submit the seat deposit?

I accepted the offer, but I did not see the seat payment option

thank you I’m going to have to talk to her

They sent out an email with your credentials to the student portal. You go to the “My ledger” on the left side of the student portal to pay your seat deposit. Check your emails and spam for the instructions.

Is anyone worried about the accreditation for the Florida location? There's always a risk but it seems like Burrell is a good school
