Here was the schedule I was given on the portal for my interview. There is an open file faculty interview that’s 30 min and a 45 min group closed interview with a student that’s super chill.

It’s so chill and conversational honestly, just be yourself and don’t compare yourself to the others there. The students just wanna know that you’ll be a good classmate to have around and a good fit for Drexel.

That’s sweet & nice to know. Thank you 🙂

my student interviewer basically told us that they write like a 2 sentence report about each student to the school, so I doubt this interview even has that much impact on your application. definitely not something to stress about.

Clinical. The full descriptions are linked on that page.

How did you fill out the comm and clin sections? Did you take specific course work to fulfill these? Because mine were mostly extracurriculars and not something I entered in AMCAS coursework

primary app submitted 9/1 | app. completed 12/23

Is there any hope? LizzyM Score 66.1% & OOS lol...

How long did it take for people to hear back after submitting their secondary app?

DUCOM MS2 👋

Hope you guys are doing well! Didn't think I'd ever find myself back on SDN but I'm here procrastinating some studying. As I was running back a little bit through this forum, I thought I'd just chime in on a couple things I saw. There's this infamous interviewer that people keep talking about, that's Dr. Weingarten (old dude with glasses that dismisses every response you make and probably barely looks at his camera while you talk). I was interviewed by him and thought it was the worst interview of my life and what do you know, I was accepted. That's everyone's experience with him so don't sweat it if you feel bad afterwards, and you likely won't have to interact with him ever again. He may be one of your CBL facilitators during your preclinical years at some point though but he's not like he is in the interviews, I promise.

Some have commented that student interviewers may seem less than enthusiastic about the school, and they probably just aren't 🤷 I don't think Drexel is the top choice for anyone I know in my class (other than some of the BS/MD students maybe?) but it is what it is. Medical school admissions is super competitive so it's definitely an accomplishment! I think most students are just happy to be getting their training done here at a US MD school regardless of whether it was their top choice or not and that's how I think of it at this point. Drexel isn't some top, sexy name to brag about or whatever, but you'll be a well trained MD come time for residency (and the match list for DUCOM isn't that bad tbh).

That being said, if you have an acceptance at a cheaper medical school, I'd highly recommend it because our tuition is atrocious and keeps going up. Also, it's incredibly hard to ignore the crapshoot that is our clinical rotations situation. HIGHLY recommend another school with a teaching hospital or more established connections for students. Another hospital that students can rotate at, Crozer-Chester Medical Center, is having a moment right now. They just shut down their general surgery and ICU wings so they'll probably close down all together soon tbh. It's more about the patient population that they serve (i.e. low-income, medicaid patients) rather than incompetence or anything else. But it was the same with Hahnemann and St. Chris (which almost closed as well). So anyways...it's kind of a mess and I'd honestly avoid it if you can. Clinical education is where a top school like Penn distinguishes itself with great teaching faculty and well-organized rotations for students...and Drexel just is not organized at all. Still. Preclinical years can't be THAT different school to school so you might think that it's not too bad during 1st year, and Drexel will try to win you over with the new building in UCity, but it won't change your lackluster 3rd year experience. PCOM here in Philly also doesn't have a hospital so their students' experiences certainly echo those of DUCOM students, but it's less than ideal compared to Temple, Jeff, Penn, etc. so just keep that in mind when making your final decisions!

Happy to answer any more questions people are curious about!

We appreciate your insight and transparency; thank you!

Had the interviewer everyone was talking about... it was pretty bad and discouraging. The student interviewer however was very nice and enthusiastic

I'm interviewing next week and am curious about the student interview. Anyone care to share the types of questions being asked?

P sure this is going to be different for every student interviewer lol, mine asked us questions based on our shared activities and what we mentioned before when we introduced ourselves.

Questions you might see are like tell me about yourself, why medicine, tell us what you do for fun, what do you do to relax, thoughts on burnout, what your friends think about you, your community service etc. and typical closed interview questions. I wasn’t asked all of these but they just want to know who you are and how you’ll fit in with other students

I don't personally help with student interviews, but my friends that do say that it's just a vibe check. There aren't any prepared questions, it'll just be a regular conversation where they might use those classic interview questions just to get the conversation started. But my interviewer didn't even ask us questions, he just asked us if we had any questions and it was just a Q&A for like half an hour. Pretty chill
