Have there been any IS Pre II Rs yet? Seems like they just pruned the OOS apps from whats being shown on the thread

Yes there has been. Keep in mind MA is a pretty small state, only about 1/10th of BU’s applicants are instate so you are less likely to see them. I’m from MA and have heard of IS R’s.

yeah I figured just surprised that I hadn't heard of any. Im also from MA so I was just curios

bro why, just leave them be. They just got the R no need to ask them questions immediately
brothas I’m all for supporting each other but most of the purpose of these forums is to share info. I feel for folks who receive the R (we’re all gonna be there eventually) but I can’t blame someone who’s asking for info that’s pertinent to their application/status.

that is fair, but show some compassion no? Not even a sorry to hear that or a that's awful. Just straight to the info, and that's just inconsiderate, and probably makes a response less likely. I'm fine with people asking those questions but like show some sort of feelings towards fellow applicants who were unsuccessful at a sought after school. just my two cents

patiently waiting for my R to hit my inbox 😵

sorry to hear about all these rejections, best of luck to yall for the rest of your cycle <3

Sorry! I didn’t know if it was appropriate to say sorry as some people I know will take it as pity. I’m also just a bit straightforward. My apologies if I came across as inconsiderate but I just want to know where I am on the chopping board.

completely fair. Wasn't coming at you specifically, just seen it happen a bunch this last week!

I watched this video last week and it kinda makes sense. I assume if you get below a certain "score" on their rubric, you get the R.

super helpful! wish more schools would have something like this. No reason for them to be cryptic just for the sake of it

OOS R complete 8/8 LM 74

I shouldn’t read into this being indicative of anything bad about my app right?
Absolutely not!! Even the perfect score, incredible EC applicants will get rejected at most schools they apply to 🙂 one rejection is not a tell of the strength of your app

thanks for the kind words! first R and still waiting on an ii so i am jumping to unreasonable conclusions lol

seems based on admit.org / cycletrack that there's barely been any interviews at T20-30s this week.

I'm thinking maybe they sent a huge wave of interviews the past 2 weeks, now they need to actually do those interviews before sending another wave?
I am thinking the same! maybe they are re-reviewing to prepare a second wave or smthing?
(im coping but if it helps it helps HAHA)

based on last years thread, Boston scattered a few interviews in their rejection week(s), but then in the following week or two they sent their next wave

Waiting to fade out of existence here @boston

I’ve noticed that as well!! I was also talking abt the T20-30s in general, since they’ve been kind of tricky this past week rather than having big II waves

If you check admit.org BU is rejecting folks that already have 5-11 interviews (so really strong applicants). Not sure what specifically they are looking for, but clearly it's not what most schools look for.

The whole explanation of the rubric doesn't really help as folks that already received 5-11 interview clearly have lots of clinical, volunteering, grades, underserved community service, etc. So despite what was stated in that video, it's not that cut and dry. They quite possibly cull applicants they suspect will go elsewhere. Just my theory. Admit.org is a small sample size, and you can't get an interview everywhere, but you do have to wonder what BU didn't like about that guy with 11 interviews. Quite a few with 4-7 interviews and 519-524 MCAT scores. Would really be interesting to see know what their thought process was.

I tend to agree with you that Yield Protection is still a thing, even at T30s, but I think what’s far more likely is mission fit.

Schools like Yale and Penn are a lot more research focused whereas Chicago and Boston are a lot more service focused. Schools will want applicants that share their mission!

My application was strong for research but even stronger for service. I got an II at chicago so I’m a little surprised at Pre II R from boston. Good luck everyone else though!
I’m sorry to hear that! Sometimes the process is just really random. Perhaps your reader at Chicago really loved one of your experiences, while your Boston reader didn’t. Maybe your Boston reader was in a bad mood. It’s impossible to know. All we can do is guess.

Chicago is a fantastic school, though, and I really hope you get in!
