OOS AL just now :/ anyone know how movement is at this school?

I was placed on the AL and got off less than a week later, so I would definitely say AL movement is big (granted it probably won't start heavily moving for a while)! I did send a letter of interest though; however, since I sent the letter of interest Friday morning and got off the AL on Monday afternoon, I am not sure if the letter of interest was the reason or if they were just already planning on accepting me

I heard this school does not accept any updates or letters of intent? Not sure if this is inaccurate but did you email it over? No place to put it in the portal from what I saw.

Wait I thought they did not accept any updates or letters

They do not accept update letters. But at my interview they said that they do accept letters of interest post interview. I also called and checked with the admissions office after I was placed on the AL, and they confirmed that they accept them and to just send the letter to the admissions email, which is what I did.

Sorry, just to clarify since you mentioned both and they are different things- did you send a letter of intent or a letter of interest?

My bad! I edited the previous message, but what they said they accept and what I sent? Was a letter of interest - which I understand per AAMC to be a letter stating my interest in attending if given an acceptance

You're good!! The difference can be tricky and they seem similar but mean very different things to the school. What you're referring to is actually a letter of intent (like you intend to attend if you got accepted, even if you have other offers). A letter of interest is less binding and is more akin to an update letter, telling the school you're still interested but not binding yourself (by honor code) to the school. Schools tend to view it very disfavorably if you send a letter of intent and end up not attending, so it is important to know the difference!

Hope this is helpful to others in this thread as well ❤️

This is what I based it on from MSAR:

"This medical school accepts the following letters or notifications from applicants
  • Letters of Intent - This letter communicates your strong belief that you would be a good fit and asset for a specific medical school.
  • Letter of Interest - A letter sent to admissions offices by an applicant on the alternate/wait list to communicate to the medical school the applicant's interest to attend if given an acceptance.
  • Notice of Significant updates or achievements - Examples of significant updates might include, published research or articles, significant honors or grants awarded."
Which is why I said letter of interest! I believe they adjusted the definitions of the letters this year and somewhat switched them, but I could be wrong. 🙂

Not sure if this is from another school because RFU’s MSAR page explicitly states no to all: update letters, letters of interest and letters of intent.

during my interview with RFU the dean of admissions said they appreciate letters of intent/interest (whatever you wanna call it) post-interview but not pre-interview.

Does anyone know how long will the II be? It says MMI, but I'm not sure how long?

Has anyone gotten the zoom link for the meet & greet? I pre-registered but I'm starting to worry that I missed the email...

Just got it! 😆Excuse my neuroticism.

OOS A my first MD one!!!!! interviewed 1/7 LM 63

OOS AL just now :/ anyone know how movement is at this school?

IS AL :/ from what i've read there is usually a good amount of movement

OOS AL today. Interviewed 1/14. Will be withdrawing! Good luck everyone!

OOS A declined earlier this week. Hope it goes to any of you guys.
Does anyone have any advice on the interview? Any resources you guys used that helped? I believe I read its an MMI so I don't feel as confident. Thanks.

Be prepared for both traditional questions as well as standard MMI ethical questions! Mine leaned more traditional questions in an MMI format. The interviewers are all kind and encouraging 🙂 Best of luck!

Does anyone know if the class is full? Just interviewed and am wondering if it was for an AL spot or a potential A.

never received complete email but i have everything submitted, all green checkmarks on the portal. i submitted secondary nov 4th, is there still hope?

I think so! I never got the complete email but received an II last week after submitting my secondary a few days after you

Anyone have any recent movement off the AL? Hoping for mine to turn into an A but not sure what the timeline looks like or if it will be closer to the CTE deadline. Sent a LOI earlier this month but no response after being told they accepted them post interview.

My guess is the bulk of movement will start in May

Are there breaks in between the MMI stations? Thanks in advance!
Yes! They have (short) breaks in between each session where you go back into the main room so they can figure out the next breakout room set up. During that time they’ll ask some fun or silly questions. On my MMI day they asked if ketchup belongs on a hot dog (tip: NO IT DOES NOT!) Sometimes a station may end early if you/your interviewer are finished so you get a little extra time in that main room.

I whole heartedly disagree with this. Ketchup always goes on a hotdog and I will die on that hill.

Is this a school that firmly doesn't take significant update letters pre-II?? Super bummed if that's the case b/c I had 2 second-author pubs get accepted for publication halfway through this cycle rip. I figured that would make up for my low stats and give me some shot at getting an interview oof.
