Does everyone get the “active consideration” email 2-4 weeks post-interview as stated on UMass’s interview info website? Also just checking…interviewees are quoted a 4-6 week turnaround time, correct? Even though it’s definitely not true :/ I forgot what was said precisely at my interview.

it’s been about 3.5-4 and i haven’t yet so idk

I had to email them about 10-11 weeks post-interview to ask if I was still in active consideration, to which they responded with an active consideration email haha. It seems they might be a bit forgetful...

Ah well at least it’s nice to know these aren’t automated emails

I never got one after interviewing in September; radio silence until I got accepted in Dec.

I somehow saw the "I Accept" and "I Decline" choices in the application action tab, but when I reload the page, the buttons were still gone. Is this normal? now it only shows "withdrawal application" button.

I’m hoping that this turns out to be a good sign for you!

Not me reloading 50+ times hoping I see something similar 🤣

For those who are accepted, after you click I accept is there nothing else to do? No payment for holding a place or anything?

Anyone know if the class of 2029 is capped at 225 students (or 236) like for the class of 2028? Or will it be increasing?

At one of they interviews they said they are not increasing their class size this year.
What percentage of the class do you think they've already accepted? Starting to think I'm already in the rejection pile for April.

Nothing else really. I would give the accepted students page a look on their website. You can also start filling out the FAFSA and CSS Profile for financial aid. The accepted students page has a link for you to log into the financial aid portal and fill out the UMass aid form and upload necessary documents.

There really is no way to tell. CycleTrack says the had an uptick in acceptances in Jan-March last cycle, but not enough people reported for it to be easy to predict. A larger round of Rs went out in March (probably pre-II) and May (waitlist).

From my understanding, this is what should be done so far:

1. No deposit to hold a spot; just accept the acceptance in the portal within 2 weeks (should change to “Intend to Matriculate”)
2. Complete FAFSA and CSS Profile
3. On UMass’ end, complete the financial aid application on Netpartner (I believe there’s a link to that site both on the accepted students page and just when googling the financial aid page on the website)
4. Complete the Certiphi background check and release the report once it is returned to you
5. No Facebook group for accepted students yet, but in past years it looks to have been created anywhere from Jan-Feb so should be coming soon 🙂

I think that’s everything???? Someone please let me know if I’ve missed something!

This is everything! The Certiphi background check will be emailed to you 🙂 Mine was complete within a day.

every time i look at last years thread and the number of people who interviewed in august to october that just didn't hear back until march for the R or WL kills me

yea... my only solace is that I have not seen people who have interviewed on my day get any sort of decisions yet on this thread (im coping) ((umass why is your review process SO bad))
If it makes you feel any better... yesterday during my PURCH interview, they admitted that their process has downsides but the biggest upside and the main reason they do it this way is that whether you interview in August or February - you have the same chance of getting in.

I'm kind of the same way, I actually met two people from my interview at a different schools admissions event and they both got rejected already but I haven't heard anything and I don't know which is worse anymore lol

I don't see how that's possible. Your app may be examined in the same way but there are going to be less spots available if you interview in February than in August.

People have been rejected post-interview? I don't know why I thought they hadn't rejected or waitlisted people yet... Kind of assumed they had only been sending A's and we were all on a silent waitlist or pre-rejection til March

Last year they took an extremely long time to waitlist people. There are a very few people who get accepted in the in between, but more often then not it is a rejection or a waitlist. Unfortunately UMass is one of those schools that interviews a ton of people and there are so many competitive applicants which makes it extremely hard to narrow down applicants. Id say just keep having hope, but be ready for reapp if this is the only school.

Does UMass accept letters of intent? I know they said they don't consider letters of interest

I don’t think they consider either and that they’re basically the same. Adcom made it very clear that only significant updates will be accepted and reviewed.

I sent them an LOI at the beginning of the month. I sort of used it as both a letter of intent and an update letter, as I had 2 significant updates to share with them. I think if you're going to send an LOI, definitely make sure you have some update you think adds to your application. The way they discussed updates and letters of interest/intent made it seem like they don't weigh them heavily unless it is actually significant to your application as a whole.

Following up on that response tho, I currently am holding onto two acceptances from DO programs, and both schools have a deposit and commitment agreement by mid-March. Do you think if I emailed the UMass admissions office for an update and explained the situation to them, they'd actually give me an answer? From what I've seen last cycle, whenever someone asked for an update, they gave the generic "You'll hear by the end of April." Not feeling great about my chances considering I interviewed 9/24 🙁

I am also in the same boat as UMass is my only MD II. I am not counting on it given previous SDN threads and you’ll probably get a generic response if you do email.

Have you guys been able to schedule the interviews? For the past 3 days, the portal shows no interview dates available

You may want to send adcom an email or try calling them. I had this issue when I was scheduling my interview as well, and I think it was a technical error on their end. Good luck!
