Has anyone been accepted to any special interest group programs yet or have an idea on when they accept for those? I interviewed first week of November, was told I would hear back by New Years, then told I would hear back by the end of January and haven't heard anything. I applied to the Leadership in Rural Medicine Program and am just wondering if that's what's holding up hearing anything. 🙂

I don’t think it has to do with the special interest program. I interviewed mid November and still haven’t heard back. They’re just running behind.

I interviewed late October, was accepted in late November, and had my LRM interview in December. If you haven't heard about an acceptance yet, they should reach out about that hopefully soon then the LRM programs later.Has anyone been accepted to any special interest group programs yet or have an idea on when they accept for those? Has anyone done the Self-Reflection Guide and had the personalized feedback session? If so, how helpful was it?

OOS Alternate. Interviewed 2/5. I thought I did well in the MMI. But it happens! Congratulations to everyone that’s been accepted! Hoping for the best for the rest of us.
Does anyone have any advice on how to proceed, or is it just a waiting game?

Did you receive a call or an email for alternate list?

it's email, I was placed on the alternate list back in OctoberDid you receive a call or an email for alternate list?
Their waitlist isn’t a black hole they just don’t pull off the waitlist until May. I think they sometimes are pulling a good chunk of people off the waitlist at this school+1 IS WL, seems like their waitlist is a black hole. Assuming rejection at this point.
Phone call or email?IS A Just now!!! Interviewed 1/22

Is there an accepted students group me?
Also, what are people’s opinions on choosing Grand Rapids vs. East Lansing campus? OOS applicant here and all I’ve heard is that Grand Rapids is just a bigger city, and East Lansing is a college town. Anything else that would be helpful to know?

MSU CHM Accepted Students Group
East Lansing you will be in the basement of radiology. Grand Rapids you will be at Secchia center. If you are in Grand Rapids you will be connected to corewell at least for your first two years of medical school. Many of the staff at corewell will be faculty at your school. It is all pretty easy to connect with the docs and shadow them. MSU also has some residency home programs in corewell Butterworth so that is pretty cool many students go to grand rounds in Grand Rapids. In East Lansing, I am unsure. I know that majority of East Lansing is MSU COM in terms of the residency programs. Most of the residents you will see at sparrow and McLaren are DOs. You likely will never apply to those residency programs because they probably wouldn't take you. As for research opportunities you will probably have more PhDs to work with due to the fact that you are on the main campus. Grand Rapids also has a large msu research center if students are into wet lab stuff. Overall, the real main concern is just the fact that East Lansing is in an undesirable building and you will be on a large college campus. If you did not have that vibe in undergrad maybe you would like East Lansing. If you like more of a young professional vibe you may like Grand Rapids more.Is there an accepted students group me?

Wow, that is super helpful, thank you so much! Makes a lot of sense too regarding the type of residents and research that are in each spot. Appreciate your response.
