There's an admitted students Slack that they will send to you and also an unofficial discord. I'm not sure what the link is but someone can probably send it to you. Second look is 25th-26th of April

OOS Deferred Decision today II 1/16. If I'm not mistaken about the interview dates, it seems that the last one was 2/6 and I think people who interviewed on that day already received decisions, meaning that it's likely the rest of the spots will go to deferred students next.

Looking at the admissions snapshot and current acceptances there are likely around 56 more acceptances yet to go out, with 128 students either waitlisted or deferred. But please correct me if I got any of this wrong. Good luck to everyone else waiting!

I’d say about 40 now for acceptances to go out. I’m nervous I really hope we get in 🤞 I wonder if any DD applicants got in from the last batch of acceptances.

did you already get your aid package? in the slack announcements channel there is a post that says they don’t match, however there is a google form for you to share information about your other offers.
 
Could a current medical student explain when Step1/2 are taken and how much dedicated study time is provided? TY!

Did some searching. For 2024, decisions came Tuesday March 5th (based on cycletrack) and for 2023, decisions came on Tuesday Feb 28th and Wednesday March 1st (based on SDN thread) so I think we should hear tomorrow and possibly Wednesday for the deferred decision gang.
 
Deferred to waitlist. Also is I’m so sad cuz it’s my top school :/. Side note but the Umich tracker didn’t change yet, did they give any acceptances yet?

Makes you feel any better you probably did everything right. I interviewed two years ago, scored as high as I could according to their feedback session, but still was rejected. The process is brutal, subjective, and unfair. You did your best which is what’s important.

Thanks for sharing that. I wanted to ask you (sorry) if they straight up rejected you or u were left on the waitlist? But I do feel better after reading that

I also got my scholarship offer too. Is this the only financial aid or scholarship we would be getting from Mich Med if we accept it?

Nope! This is strictly from admissions, so it is the merit-based portion of your award. You now need to wait/coordinate with the Financial Aid office for need-based scholarships/grants and loans, and that will be you full award package
 
If we did not receive a email, does this mean we are not getting an award? Or are they rolling?

Oh they are for sure rolling! I believe they are still coming in. We have a deadline of April 21st to accept, so it all depends. Plus, people turn these offers down and attend other institutions, so that could open even more spots before and after that deadline.
 
Does anyone know where in our Wolverine profiles we can see the scholarship offers? I am a bit in shock and would love to see it IRL.
 
Anyone know if they review applications continuously for admissions scholarships? I was accepted in October and I’ve had several updates since then including a publication, but I didn’t submit these updates since I was already accepted. Is it worth it to submit them now?

What’s your source on this? Carol Teener’s announcement in the Slack implies there won’t be anymore scholarship offers until April.
 
My financial aid info is on the Wolverine site, but I can't accept or decline just yet...
 
For need based financial aid, does anyone know how they determine how much grant vs. federal loan aid you receive (i.e. formula or something)? Given my financial situation I'm a bit surprised at my estimated package, especially considering they say the avg indebtedness upon graduation is ~$161K (I would be in significantly more than this yikes).

Thinking about asking but I definitely don't want to come across as rude or ungrateful!

Those averages get driven down by the people who’s parents pay for school. If half of the students take on $400k worth of debt and the other take on no debt thanks to their parents, the average indebtedness is $200k. Add in the 50% of UMich students that are in-state and you can see how the average is $161k. I think around 30% of medical students nationwide take on no loans.

Update: Umich has rescinded any outstanding PIBS offers for PhD students effective immediately. Some departments have allowed these students to defer to a 2026 acceptance. Don’t know if this affects finances for MD or MD/PhD but wanted to be transparent as this institution doesn’t want to be.
