If they said my Kira is due in 5 business days last Friday would that make it due this Wednesday or this Friday ?
Im trying to get it in Wednesday just to be sure. But I think technically it would be due thursday if they count friday as one of the business days since thats when most received the secondary.

Should I even answer the reapplication question since Roseman would not know if I am a reapplicant or not?

For those who have submitted the KIRA assessment and the secondary application, does it still show that your KIRA assessment is incomplete in the application status window on AMP?
Did you figure this out? How long did it take to show up in your portal after completing it?

Yes, I called the admissions office and they said that they are uploading the KIRA scores manually– it just took a little bit of time for it to pop up as completed on AMP. I think its safe to assume that if you have the KIRA confirmation email, you're good to go!

Do you think it is worth applying with no connection/ties to Nevada? I heard that they were only accepting 6 OOS students

The minimum word requirement for the secondaries will probably make you rethink applying there. If you can write 500-1000 words about why you would consider practicing medicine in Nevada then go for it, I guess. Also admissions didn’t state that they’re only going to admit 6 OOS applicants, so idk where you got that number. But I bet this school will be IS heavy given the school’s mission/what they’ve said to media outlets.

Agree, and Instate heavy would likely mean at least 70% of class, potentially 80%.

Just submitted the primary am I late lmao?

Nevada is not a particularly populous state. The other in-state MDs each got under 300 IS applicants last cycle. I would be surprised if Roseman gets 150. From there you have to hope those are quality applicants, and that they fill out the secondary. And don't already have As...

My read of the secondary questions is that they are actually planning on admitting a decent number of OOS this cycle. The lengthy responses are a way to figure out who is actually serious and who might have real interest in staying in NV after graduation.

I am so curious how their numbers will turn out (going to wait for MSAR or if they post on their website).

Fair points. I agree w trying to see who would stay from OOS w length prompts. But let's say they only get 150 IS apps. I think they could easily find 40-45 IS applicants that are qualified out of that number.

Just went to the information session tonight.
A few things of note not mentioned elsewhere
- The anatomy lab does not have a cadaver portion, but they will have a virtual component
- Right now their research space is geared toward cancer research, but there are plans to expand it in the future

Thanks for sharing. I remember reading an article about how Roseman bought a cancer research group in their journey to open a MD school, so it might be that one

Edit w/link: University-cancer institute merger announced; could bring new med school to Las Vegas

All I'm gonna say is that Dean Jones is a baller. Lays it down it how it is. He is the type of individual that I would want connecting me with possible away rotations. I don't personally believe in reincarnation, but if I did, I would guess he was a big time sports agent in his past life.

Also, the amount of OOS students trying to gate keep the program by discouraging other OOS students from applying is wild. Have some class.

He was really passionate yesterday haha, but the transparency is good

Hey had a quick question. Does anyone know if its still worth applying to Roseman if I do it this week and, if so, do they accept the Fee Assistance Program from AMCAS for the secondary?

They do accept AAMC FAP for the secondary, and I think it's still worth applying since they haven't even started interviewing yet

Any idea how many people they plan to interview? Forgot to ask that at the meeting last night.

Did yall receive an acknowledgment from Roseman after submitting your primary? Before the secondary was sent?

Thinking it’s over for me here 😂 since submitted on 2/20 and nada

You could write them, they said email them if you got questions about your app specifically like technical aspects or pre reqs or deadlines etc

Is it even worth doing the secondary essays as an OOS applicant knowing that I screwed up the Kira assessment?

Ultimately is up to you, if you want to spend the $100. We don’t know how many IIs or As or if you applied DO or where your app is at or how it could be improved.

Also depends how badly you “screwed up” Kira. I felt that on Casper and ended up scoring well. Sometimes people feel more pressure in those scenarios because you are the only one talking and you can’t really assess the other persons body language or response energy.

No one on here can truly tell you if it’s worth it more than you. You know your circumstances best.

Love the Dean Jones energy of this comment 🙂‍↕️

How big of a deal do you all think it is that they will not have a cadaver portion of the Anatomy Lab and that they will have a virtual component?

Prob not the biggest deal unless you’re interested in surgery

Intern year as in a surgical specialty will be tuff if you’ve never worked with a cadaver 😭

UNLV med is the same, a lot of schools are moving towards the virtual anatomy table, it’s pretty cool tbh if you’ve never used it

Doesn’t UNLV have a cadaver lab though?
From my recollection (and this was from when i was in undergrad and the school opened) they made a big deal about how they were going to be using the virtual anatomy boards and even brought them to the UNLV undergrad campus

No doubt, they def seem like an awesome feature to have, but I would definitely want it in addition to a cadaver portion ideally.

Secondary received on 2/28
Submitted on 3/3
Complete on 3/5

Okay MCAT, crap GPA but upward trend. Also OOS w no ties (or very minimal at best)

Anyone II's yet?
