2024-2025 UCLA (Geffen)

Does UCLA send out pre-secondary rejection letters? Starting to feel like a broken record on this forum but it's been 2 months since my MCAT score release and still nothing :/ They did send the primary application receipt back in July but it's been dead silent ever since.
I don't have any IA's in case you're wondering. When should I call it quits for this school? I feel like that should have been called a while ago now. I haven't really heard any success stories of people getting their secondary in October or later and being accepted to DGSOM.

i got my secondary the same day i sent in my primary and i have pretty low stats. you should try calling their admissions office directly to see what’s up bc none of us will know exactly why it’s taken so long for you. hopefully it wasn’t sent to ur spam

When was your application complete, if you don't mind me asking? When did you take your MCAT?
this was years ago. i dont remember & dont think it matters much anyway-- they are either going to send you the secondary, or they wont. im rooting for you and wishing you the best of luck!

hello i just got an email that DGSOM did not receive my preview score yet. I completed my preview exam months ago and just talk with a rep from aamc preview who said that they released the score to DGSOM already. What should I do now? It's weird because I already had my interview them and my app is marked complete
Email them back explaining everything you just described?

Is the score on your amcas primary submission?

Hi all, current student at DGSOM here. Please let me know if I can help in any way. Time is limited at this moment, so I won't be able to read Personal Statements or secondary essays -- happy to answer your other questions below or via chat.

Current student here, just want to echo this. You are most certainly "allowed" to have multiple interests... not everything in your application needs to tie into the exact same theme. In fact, I might even argue that a student with multiple areas of interest is much more well-rounded than a student who has tied every activity into the same topic.

As with most schools today, DGSOM wants to see that you are motivated to be a leader in your field and create positive change in an area that you are passionate about. Write about something important and meaningful to you, but please don't feel like you need to connect all of your experiences to one central "mission" in this short 800-character essay.
Hi! I know you made this post a little while ago, but just incase your still lurking I figured it couldnt hurt to ask a couple questions.

I was wondering in you have any insight into how the shortened 1 year preclinical curriculum has been for you personally?

When are you planing to take your USMLE exams considering all your core rotations are completed by the end of your 2nd year?

What do most people do during their 3rd discovery year? is it as high stress as the first two years?

How is the culture at UCLA? is it decently colaborative? are facility approachable?

just got a secondary (10/03) today after submitting my primary on 07/11 LOL, wondering if its even worth it to submit it late into the cycle
Yes, just be sure to submit within their strict 14 day limit

same here - wasn't sure why I received a late application but I think it's because I didn't meet one of their initial screening requirements with activities but have LM 76. Assuming they went back to finally look at my app now. Idk if this might be similar to u as well or something else maybe

submitted my primary in mid july and just got a secondary yesterday; I am cooked

Does anyone know what time interview invites are usually sent out? People that have already received one, what time did you guys receive it and did it come to your email or portal?

mine was sent to my email around 9:40am PT!

for question 2C "Describe your most scholarly project (thesis, research or field of study in basic or clinical science or in the humanities) and provide the total number of hours, dates and advisor. " do you think they are mostly looking for an experience that has results (publications/presentations/etc.) or do you think its ok to talk about my work as a research coordinator. I have down research programs that resulted in deliverables, but it wont tie into my societal mission as well as my research coordinator job, where I mainly do clinical visits.

I think either of these options would work well! The option that ties into your societal mission better may connect better with the other questions of the secondary. So if this is something you’re more passionate about, I would go with that option!

I wonder when their next interview wave is 👀 they haven’t sent a big wave since like the 23rd?

Hi! How long after you interview w/UCLA does it take to find out if you're accepted or rejected?

The answers will be all over the place, especially if they decide they don't want to accept you but want to see how you compare the later interviewees.

Still haven't received a secondary yet :/
As mentioned in a previous post, I tested 07/26 for the MCAT. Any fellow MCAT takers on the same boat? Did we all just get a soft R? Or are you guys holding it down until you actually receive a formal email?
From their website.

-How long should I expect to wait to know if I am receiving a secondary application/interview/offer?
"We have a rolling admissions process, which means that every applicant’s timeline is different. As long as you haven’t received a decision, you are still in consideration as an applicant. It may be helpful to refer to our admissions timeline for a general overview of the year; however, your personal journey in the admissions process may fall outside of these guidelines. Please note, that we are unable to give timeline expectations outside of the general admissions timeline."

I'm in the same boat so no news is still not a R!

Recently took the PREview exam, so hoping that's what's causing the hold-up.

They don't require PREview for your application to be complete. They'll review your application without it and wait for your score.

"No news is good news" is only true of a school has sent out rejections because it means they didn't find you worth a rejection, at least not yet. Since UCLA hasn't sent out rejections, not hearing back can be either, especially if you haven't gotten a secondary. Not getting a secondary by now is like not getting an II by March.

my mcat score came back on 8/27 so thats when my app was complete. so it's been a little over a month and I still don't have a secondary. I'm holding on to hope tho bc this school is my top choice

Does anyone know if applying to PRIME pushes your application for review later in the cycle? Their FAQs are super vague and I was just curious to see if anyone had any further information about the review process when applying to it.

Not sure about this either – has anyone who applied to PRIME gotten an interview for regular MD already?

I emailed ADCOMS: I heard that my application would not be reviewed via the "Regular MD" process unless I am 100% rejected from the PRIME program first—meaning, if I am rejected by the PRIME program in late February, for example, my application will not be considered for the MD program until then. Is this the correct assumption?
They replied: In your secondary application, you can indicate that you would like to be considered for both programs. After indicating that, you will then be in consideration for both programs simultaneously.

anyone get any more secondaries?

Still have't got a secondary after three months, I wish they would just send me the rejection email already

When you guys say "PRIME", do you mean the Urban Health Equity program?
PRIME is a separate 5 year program where you graduate with a MD + Masters (MPH, MBA, or MPP are offered at UCLA I believe). The Urban Health Equity is a concentration within the traditional 4 year MD program.
