Will UTSW waitlist me as a OOS? Or do they just hold you on until they either accept or reject me. Just wondering if I’ll hear anything soon.

Hey just prematched!! Not sure what my LM is but I interviewed 9/11! Just making sure, accepting means that I want them to keep my ranking high so I can guaranteed match on match day, correct? I accepted but am still unsure about ranking it #1 or not so just wanted to make sure (the language used was "I ACCEPT the offer of a position in the 2025 entering class at UT Southwestern Medical School." which confused me, but I'm pretty sure we can still rank other schools higher and possibly get matched there instead). Congrats to everyone else and good luck for those who are still waiting to hear back! Y'all got this I know it :) We're all gonna make some amazing doctors haha

In-state acceptance!!! Born/raised in Dallas. LM 74. Interviewed 8/14. Beyond shocked and thankful, still doesn't feel real.

Today, the harvester tastes defeat for the first time. No prematch from UTSW. At least the first soft rejection I receive on the corporeal land of admissions was post interview.
Ironic that a harvester of II's had a lapse of patience. Got the A a little after 4:35. My SDN crashed likely due to being overloaded by my capabilities so I didn't get to post until now. The only thing that can defeat me is my own mind.

Interviewed 9/18, pre matched with a full ride!
Congrats! This is a dream come true! What do you believe might have been the deciding factor for the full tuition offer in your case? Thank you for any input :)

Congratulations, great school and best luck to your new journey. Be safe out there

Just enjoy the moment, you will figure out later, you might have more pre match offers on your way, you have plenty time to decide which one you really want, close to home might be a factor too, recharged is important

Congrats to those that have prematched🎉! I can't wait to greet some of you soon. For those still waiting, like everyone has said it's not over till it's over. The months are long and the wait is longer, but you've done the hardest part and applied/interviewed. Keep on grinding or enjoying y'alls leisure time. Can't wait to hear from more of you the next couple of months!

I know this is pretty neurotic, but is there a chance I can prematch later? I interviewed 10/2 which is already kind of a late date so they didn't want me THAT bad. It seems like the people who prematch later interviewed in early sept/aug so should I just give up hope?

They will send out more, about once a month
or-
rank them #1 for Match & maybe go there without a prematch offer at all

Besides the $1000 scholarship to qualify for IS tuition, does UTSW give out any other scholarships to OOS students?

Texas does not give financial need scholarships which means everything in need is a loan.
UTSW awards some full tuition scholarships and as far as we know they are not restrictive to instate. However there are not many of those.

Is it wise to ask for a stipend as well if you already got full tuition?

Do you know where we would ask for this information? I didn't get the full tuition scholarship with my prematch offer, but I think I could leverage such an early acceptance for one. Would it be wise to reach out now while the pool of accepted students is still fairly small or to wait until after the match? And does anyone know if prior students who pre-matched early were given similar aid offers in the future after their prematch date? (Also, I just want to note that I am SO thankful I got into my dream school, let alone this early. Medical school is just a major financial burden, and I want to make it as easy for myself as I can if possible haha)

UTSW has limited number of scholarships and they are essentially taking money out of other students tuitions to give some of those scholarships. Current students get a notitification each year how much of their tuition went to funding those scholarships.

Most admitted students have no leverage to negotiate. The moment of negotiation comes when a comparable school offers you a scholarship that you can then submit and are able to say you may need to go there because of financial reasons if you dont see some money. A comparable school for UTSW is Baylor or higher ranked school. Even then they still wont be able to offer unless some of those who have already been offered drop out of contention.

Any data on the % of merit scholarships UTSW gives out every year?

That's valid. I have a friend last cycle that tried to leverage their full ride to Baylor to get money from Southwestern- no dice. I guess I won't be trying then 😅

interesting that someone got a full ride from baylor but not also from southwestern. gives me hope that maybe i can get merit money elsewhere

For those who have interviewed already, what can I expect for the Monday info session before my interview? Is it mostly just a presentation we listen to or is there a lot of opportunities for questions/interaction?

It’s mostly listening but have some questions ready for current students that you were not able to find online

Two cycles ago there was a couple who got scholarships from UTSW but didnt get anything from Baylor until much later by which time they settled on UTSW for ranking. They ended up in Cal but until they took themselves out from UTSW, the scholarships couldn't have been given to anyone else.

Is accepting the offer on the AMP portal binding? The harvester could not get any information from the admissions office over the phone.
