Just saw this news that the dean stepped down. For a new school, this seems... off. Am I reading into this too much? On one hand it could be nothing, but we live in a strange world.

To be clear, I hope he's alright - at the meet & greet he appeared very driven about helping the region. I guess life just happens sometimes. All the best to Dr. Willis.

Yeah. I heard about this last week. Very bizarre and very sudden. Hope everything is ok with him and his family.

If I see any reliably sourced news I will share. Right now this brief statement is all I can find as well and it is definitely vague.
 
Does anyone know when the interview dates are for UT Tyler?

They do follow that schedule yes, there are 2 interview dates in September that are listed in the portal and not on their website, but the rest are all there. Additionally, they told us in person that pre match offers would be in October and January, rather than November and January on the website.

I wonder if there is a list of the dates that the schools sent prematches last year like there was for interviews. Do you know of any?

Why since you asked, yes we did keep a list.
It’s not guaranteed that things will be the same this year though so don’t take this list as some kinda rule. Okay?

Does UT Tyler send an email when you're going under review? I believe I received one when I first applied but I can't remember
 
I had friend say they received second look day email? Can anyone verify they received one also?
 
I got that as well as a handwritten thank you note from Dean Willis in the mail for interviewing. I thought that was really cool.

Yes, invitation only to those who have interviewed, meaning people who have not yet interviewed do not receive an invitation. It is called "SECOND Look" because the first look was the interview lol

ohhh, they stressed during interview like oh you may get an invitation for second day when I interviewed. But this also happened a few months ago
 
For those who have interviewed, how was the meet & greet? I'm going alone and can't decide if I'm more anxious for that or the interview itself😅

Super relaxed. Nobody that will be interviewing you the next day will be present so there's no need to stress too much about it unless your baseline is patrick bateman.

Talk with the faculty, med students, and your fellow interviewees. Enjoy the snacks. They had a rose (which is, by the way, the one thing Tyler is known for worldwide!!) that was made of salami, which was equally fascinating and horrific. I mean, a meat flower???
 
Anyone hear of any specifc time frame for the first wave of pre-matches. They stated October in my interview, but curious if anyone has heard a date other than that? Looks like last year they started 10/31

Their website claims 2 waves only with the first being in November. This was also told to us during my interview day that nothing would be sent in October.

Seems like they pushed it back by a few weeks. Originally it was supposed to be late October according to an earlier interview day. I can either be patient or start crafting theories that will ultimately cause me to spiral into psychosis.... the latter sounds nice.
 
I have an upcoming interview with UT Tyler which I am super excited about!

Would love some tips on how to do well considering I am a lower stat applicant and it is my only MD invite so far.

I'd recommend reading some MMI books. BeMo has one and the other is a bit harder to get (Multiple Mini Interview: Winning Strategies from Admissions Faculty). These will familiarize you with the MMI style interview and general strategy.

Also, Google MMI scenarios and read as many as you can and even better if you have someone that you can do mock interviews with. Lastly, just be yourself and let your personality show. Be prepared, but be yourself.
 
Hi guys! for those who have interviewed can you give any insights about the interview day like the group activity and etc? Also, I have not done MMIs before and English is not my first language so I hesitate even during normal interviews; any advice about MMIs would be appreciated! 🙂

interview day is honestly super fun, and I came out of it happier than when I started(everyone is super super super nice) - can't give specifics but I enjoyed my time personally. Just be yourself, be a normal person.
For MMI, look up MMI practice on youtube, and do as much practice as possible..
for the english part, speak slowly and think before you speak, you have alot of time for MMI's

ALSO- I will be driving the night before and will be attending the meet and greet alone. Any safe & economical hotel/ accommodations recommendations close to the school?

La Quinta on 323 (there are two of them - choose the one closer to the school. Absolutely avoid the other one) is where I stayed and it was good. 15 minute drive to the school.
 
Has there been any additional information about next week’s second look? I registered for it but haven’t heard back yet
 
6 days until we start hearing news. From previous years' threads it looks like they do phone calls - any idea what time they start / end at?
