2024-2025 UT Southwestern (UTSW)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Haha yeah, I’m super grateful for the IIs but scheduling has become…a hassle. Great problem to have though, no complaints on my end! 🙂

And I only saw October 9th so far, no other dates.
Thats a good date. I believe UTSW included prematches until the last week before October 15th last year.

they review applicants that quick?
Not sure if they were deliberate in reviewing the last week before release or whether they pick people from each group that quickly, i.e., finish evaluating right away after interviews.

Anyone know what the consensus is on update letters for this school? Will it make a difference at this point post interview?

Congrats to those who got interviews today, y’all are killing it!!

Congrats y'all! Even though you'll be interviewing after the first round of pre-matches you'll still be comfortably in the running for the second round of them before Thanksgiving (if it's like the last few years)

No tours for UTSW interviewees yet, right? I'm asking bc I never received the TCOM tour email a few months back and don't want to miss this tour.

Has anyone gotten a prompt to change their password when logging into the portal? I know it's silly, but I had that come up today (with the error "Your password has expired. Please update it to proceed!") which is so odd because it's not something I did that long ago (I forget when I submitted my primary, but it was around the beginning of August and I interviewed 9/11). I just wanted to ask if anyone has had that come up recently or if this is a common thing that most medical schools do with their AMP portals during the cycle. I've been using the same password for all my application portals just to keep everything more organized so I wanted to know if I should expect to do this for the rest of my schools too

Interviewed on 9/11 as well, and I did not have this issue. I was able to login with my original password that I set up when doing the secondary. I wouldn’t read too much into it tho

I had to do this as well, and I have not received an II

Note: I have not had to do this for any other school, and I try to check my portals frequently

Pretty sure I remember doing this with UTSW as well before my interview. Could just be something with the portal.

Interviewed last week of September, anyone think it’s possible as a OOS to hear this week?

Yes, there were applicants last year who interviewed the first week of October and pre-matched for the first wave.

That said, not getting an offer this week doesn't mean you won't receive one during a later wave. If UTSW wants you here, they want you to know!

I had to! I interviewed 10/09 though

do current med students at UTSW find out if pre-matches will be released? i remember seeing in last year's thread that current students were made aware of when they would be released but not sure if that’s a typical thing

Probably the ones who participate in the admissions process could know. One more day @oatmeal_27

I'm not under the impression that students participate directly in the admissions process here. They help more with recruitment (eg, Q&A panels, giving tours, reaching out to accepted students, etc.) from what I have seen. Not aware of any of my classmates possessing any insider info either.

For the past few years, UTSW has been pretty consistent about when it sends it's pre-matches (1, possibly 2, rounds a month up until match day iirc). This pattern has been documented on SDN the pretty consistently, though more recent years are likely a better indicator on predicting these dates. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, I'd imagine a handful of applicants will have some amazing news this week!

I agree, I didn't think they were involved in any admissions decisions, but if they were involved in the pre-interview orientations & chats they might hear something.

Maybe they won't send prematches this week because the entire city of Dallas is in grief after getting embarrassed by the lions

Do people think that people interviewing last week (October 9th and 12th) could be included in the first round of acceptances? Looking at past years, it seems the turnaround would have to be faster than before.

Maybe not that close to October 15, but previous year threads show that October interview dates could very well hear tmrw.

Hey y'all, feel like I gotta drop in again to wish everyone good luck with pre-matches, at UTSW and elsewhere!

Also, as a word of encouragement - I didn't pre-match at UTSW on October 15th last year... or at all.... and I also didn't match in February 😎

I don't want to give anyone false hope, so take this with a grain of salt, but I ended up coming off the waitlist like 2 days before the deadline (since I had another acceptance that was ~May 15th for me), so even if you don't pre-match... or match even... you can still get in.

So far I've honestly excelled and enjoyed my time in med school. I know a couple other 'wait-listers' and they're also crushing it as well. So if you do get an offer off the waitlist, or just later down the line, I'd highly encourage you to take it!

As always, feel free to reach out to me here or via DM, and I'll be as helpful as I can.

Eh. A bit of a pain, but I feel like that's always the case. Tbh my partner did most of the work finding the place lol, I was busy jumping through all the registration hoops (including making sure I got financial aid asap).

What really hurt was how expensive the move was (moving van, getting furniture, setting up bathroom/kitchen etc.), went wayyy over budget (which was way too vague/not really an actual budget in hindsight).

Also, just wondering, since you mentioned waitlisters and such, what is your general approximation/feel as to how many of your classmates prematched vs. matched vs. waitlisted? does it feel like 60 30 10 or something
