Does going to the informational sessions have any affect on admission?
Will adcoms be in the meeting or will the med students give presentations?

Also do the applicants have their cameras on or off during these sessions?
Not that anyone knows of

So far I have only seen some of the admissions team members (dean etc) but nobody on the committee, someone correct me if I'm wrong

Cameras on

Every time they send me a email about joining their discussions my heart jumps seeing "UTSW admissions", but then it goes right back down when I realize its a automated email 🙁
For real, I went several months not hearing anything from UTSW and now they won't stop emailing me. Mixed signals much?

I'm rooting for you. Hang in there - lots of time yet <3

no effect whatsoever, they will just help you learn about the school so you are more informed

Anyone have an idea of when the next round of prematch offers are ?

second round of PMs went out on Nov 21st last cycle so hopefully around then if they’re consistent

n=1 but I was not able to attend any of them live due to work/school conflicts and i still prematched so it’s not a big deal. plus they post recordings of the sessions you can rewatch if you want to see what questions other people have asked

This is my number 1 school and I interviewed 10/2. Should I send a Letter of Intent or will that annoy them? For these, I just have to say I plan to matriculate here if I get in, right? Because I don't have any updates to give them.

Anyone know attire for campus visit? Would love to hear thoughts. Thanks

They'll send out an email with tour details later if you haven't gotten it yet but they said to do smart casual! People at my session did button down shirts/cardigans/sweaters with dress pants 🙂
Is this sent to students who have interviewed? I interviewed 10/30 and haven’t received anything yet about a campus visit

Since they started prematch earlier this year, do you think they will they have more rounds?

current ms2 and i help give these tours! your guides will be wearing business casual and you will have a chance to meet and chat with the deans, so business casual is recommended, but wear comfortable shoes bc you will be walking quite a bit. can confirm that these tours are only for accepted students.

Any current UTSW students that are active on SDN willing to answer some questions I have about this school over DM’s?

Thanks in advance!!

Absolutely, my inbox is open

Can OOS applicants receive a full tuition scholarship here or are those usually for Texas residents?
I think someone did during the last round of acceptances. Regardless, yes they can.

Would love to hear back from UTSW. However, the odds aren’t looking too good as we’re approaching their final II date from last year (11/24).

That was the day after Thanksgiving last year - should we be praying for a Black Friday miracle?

anything i should especially know or prepare for as an OOS interviewee here? I really like this program and want to give this my best shot.

I believe they try to match you to interviewers who share similar interests with you, such as similar hobbies, research interests, etc. One of my interviewers and I spent most of the time talking about my involvement in a non-medicine related hobby. Just do your best, be yourself, be proud of the things that make you unique and good luck! Hope your interview goes well.

Hi all, I received an II today from UTSW and the earliest date available was January 8th. Should I go ahead and schedule right now or try my luck at an earlier time in December?

Just incase anyone asks - LM 69

Congrats! When I got my II last week, there was only one date in early December and then the rest were in January, so December probably filled with the last wave

Can any UTSW students link to a virtual tour of the gym/have any pictures 😂😂😂
i think i remember when i was prepping for the interview that they had a video tour on the portal that shows the rec center and even their basketball court

Don't know if there's any tour online, but I'd say the gym is like a 6.5/10. Bad water fountains, not quite enough equipment (squat/bench racks mostly) for peak hours, but decent variety/quality of equipment, nice basketball court, squash court inside, tennis courts outside, ping-pong and pool if that's your thing. Student center staff are usually very helpful and the student services (or whatever the office is called) has had a ton of events (free food + distraction from studying) throughout the semester.

Is it open 24/7? Or are there set hours?
