I'd like to know as well!

I'm also wondering if its possible to establish VA residency after a year if my significant other works in VA and I've otherwise jumped through all the other hoops required. I also wonder if being in the 3-year program linkage to a specific residency would also help in qualifying for in-state tuition.

**ADMITTED STUDENTS**
Congrats to the students who received their admission offer recently! My name is Nihal, I'm one of the Class of 2028 officers. We have a Facebook group for you to get to know other students in your class (as well as ask questions and access the group me link). Let me know if you have any issues joining! Please note, you will have me send me a picture of your admissions offer on FB messenger to join 🙂

Just bumping this again for the recently admitted students— lmk if you have any issues!

Just wanted to chime in about admissions decision dates! Decision dates are listed as Feb 1 and Mar 15, but both of those are Saturdays. I got clarification that admissions decisions will go out the following Mondays, on Feb 3 and Mar 17. Hope this is helpful!

does anyone know if it’s worth it to send a letter of intent here for upcoming acceptance dates/waitlist?

Sending an intent letter is not worth it here until WL, and maybe not even then. Remember, they rank us based on the committee vote, which is our score for the rest of the application cycle.

yeah 🥲 think im getting pretty stir crazy from the waiting. i *might* still send a loi even if it could help in the tiniest bit since this is my first choice school. imma shoot my shot

slightly not true that it doesn't do anything, when I applied, if you sent one it would be like a checkmark next to your name, if it got really close (I presume someone had the same score), that could be the deciding factor

Does anyone know if the recent interview invites were for the last slots? I sent my secondary late July and have ties to the area, so I'd like to send a letter of interest (not sure if it's too late though)

I was invited for an interview few days ago and saw slots open from this week to the end of February. So I’m thinking there may be more II coming up.

Anyone else interested in the 3 year MD programs? I emailed and the requirements are: no preclinical failures (obviously) and not being in the bottom quartile (they rank students). Any thoughts on going here for the opportunity to do a 3 year MD vs going to a p/f school with NBME exams for 4 years?

For those of us interviewing this week, does anyone know if admissions decisions will be released on either Feb. 1 or March 15? According to VCU's calendar, those are the last two dates for MD decisions.

I think February, and also the VCU portal says Feb 3 even though the website says Feb 1 which might make more sense with it being a Monday.

Do you know if you should wait until you're WL? Or send it prior to that?

I sent mines right after my interview
That's good to know!

I'm a bit confused because their MSAR says one thing:

But the FAQ on their applicant website says another:

I don't want to annoy the admissions committee, but I also don't want to miss an opportunity to update them or let them know how much I'd like to go to their school 😳

I sent an update letter on 12/9, got an invite 1/20. Obviously we can't be 100% sure that's what got the invite, but I like to think that it helped because I did have some big updates (2 first-author pubs, medical translation certification). This was their reply:

I sent an update a few weeks before I got my II too, maybe coincidence, maybe not

Forgot to update, but II received 1/20! The spots available were for yesterday, today, and two days next week. I ended up not submitting an update letter since consensus was no, but manifesting must've done something lol

That's good to know! I got an ii, just was wondering about post ii letters

Hey all,
Was wondering if someone could explain the decision timeline and acceptance rate. I’m OOS and interview in a couple weeks but it looks like the decision day is 3/15. Looks like 70% post II oos acceptance rate but I saw someone earlier say that they only accept 50 of the 200 people considered for that decision day and 3/15 is the last day this cycle. Thanks in advance

There is waitlist movement. VCU also doesn’t over accept, so after 3/15, they’ll only have accepted a class size of people. Anyone who withdraws opens a spot.
