A thread to support those in manifesting an Acceptance off the waitlist this cycle. I'm wishing success for all those held within waitlist purgatory. Manifesting waitlist movement for us all as soon as possible.

Feel free to use this space to manifest A's and support one another thoughout this process.=
Sitting on 4 WL no A's currently as a re-applicant and it has been a very soul-crushing time
I hope that people who may be in a similar boat feel seen and heard
You're not alone and what is happening to you does not define you 🙂

Got hit with two waitlists on the same day... felt like I was right back where I started last time. Waiting to hear back from my top choice school, but the silence is killing me. This is the real world marshmallow test my friends. Patience will make us better doctors, and more importantly, better people.

Also got WL at my top choice... Maybe it was too good to be true.
Water the ground that you stand on. That school that you really wanted might seem fancy with all the bells and whistles, but 99% of your time is gonna be spent studying anyways. You are gonna do great things!

So far one interview at UVA which turned into a waitlist early this year as an IS... wondering what else are there to do after sending a letter of intent? On the way to find jobs and prepare for reapplication after a few gap years, but doesn't want to give up on that WL right now, is there any advice on what to do next, would really appreciate any opinions!! Hope all of us get an A at the end of this journey!

Waitlisted at my top choice (FSU) since December! Really hoping for the A 😭 😤 I know they don't rank their waitlist so I am very much in limbo

Hi guys! I have had 5 interviews and have not had any acceptances from them yet. I was waitlisted at UCSD, USC, and Miami and am under active consideration at UA Phoenix and Kaiser. Very unfortunate but hoping I get off the waitlists! I don't know how this happened really because I feel like the interviews went pretty well. At several of these schools I have had the interviewer say I hope you come here/you are so prepared for this and other super positive things.

I am a little bit lost on what I should be doing right now. I have asked advisors from my school and others and everyone says "prepare to be thinking about reapplying" but I am confused on what my actual steps should be. My advisor said that I should reuse my personal statement but just tweak it slightly. I do feel like my personal statement was good but I have seen other people on SDN and reddit say that using a lot of the same parts of your old personal statement comes across as lazy. I wouldn't want to come across as lazy, but at the same time my reason, why, and story has not changed in the past year because I am the same person just with a lot of extra research hours.😂 Also, my advisor said that when you reapply you reuse your old activity descriptions without changing them and just add new ones for your new activities during your gap year. Is this true?

Any helpful advice on the steps of preparing for reapplication would be greatly appreciated! I really really really hope I don't have to though!
I'd like to know as well, because I am in the same situation.

I'd like to know as well, because I am in the same situation.

This is only my personal experience, but I was also waitlisted at 4 places the first time I applied. This year, I got 4 acceptances!

The first time I applied, I was working in basic science research. After an unsuccessful cycle, I quit and started a clinical job. I didn't change much of my personal statement, maybe some minor revisions, and didn't have too much more to add to my activities, other than my new job and some clinical research. Did some editing, but content was nearly the same. All letters of rec stayed the same, but I submitted a new one from my new job. (fyi, I had some volunteer clinical activities previously, but not paid)

I think if you do end up having to reapply (which I hope is not the case!!!), it's really important to create a narrative. For example, "I was lacking in this area before, but now I have more confidence in XYZ." It seems like my interviewers valued this kind of reflection. imo, it would be better to try a new activity/job as opposed to just getting more hours in your existing activities. It's more conducive to demonstrating a growth mindset.

Hello everyone, the waiting has been killing me so I've decided to join this support thread. First time applicant, interviewed for 2 Texas schools (IS applicant) and was WL for both. April 30th & May 15th deadlines coming soon! Wishing movement for everyone on a waitlist here

Thank you! When did you start the new clinical job? Because I am in the same position as you were in that during my gap year I have mainly been working in a clinical research job so I would likely also want to switch to more of a clinical job but I don't know when I should do this. Like do I apply to the clinical job right now and potentially have to quit 5 seconds later? Or did you wait to start the clinical job in late April/May?

Re-applicant here with 1 MD II --> 1 MD WL. Super grateful for my DO A's but this WL school is my dream school and after an already unsuccessful cycle last year it hurts sm to be in this position again 🙁 Sending good vibes to everyone else!

Just wanted to put my two cents out there to all the potential reapplicants. The only thing separating you from a med school admit and a future physician is 1-2 years. That's it. There is so much luck involved in this process, and it can be easy to search for a reason why and try to tear apart your application when the truth is that there are just too many applicants and not enough spots. There are pros and cons to however you decide to proceed, so just own whatever decision you make. Getting a clinical job is never a bad option, but it involves having to start fresh and learn everything new, including making new connections. By staying at the same place, you could potentially seek out a promotion and more importantly, demonstrate a longitudinal commitment to something. In my head, this is scrutinized very carefully by adcoms because this is a profession that demands long-term commitment. Whatever you decide to do, do what you want to do not what you think adcoms want you to do. Good luck!

3 IS II, 2 WL, 1 still pending, which is from my top choice.
The wait has been so stressful, I've been getting white hairs for the first time in my life, and it feels like my blood is drying up lol. Manifesting on at least one A PLEASE (T-T)
Wish the best of luck to everyone on this thread <3 We all got this

Remember y’all

Hope is good, but don’t let the chance that you get in dissuade you from working on your reapplication. Just assume you’ve been rejected and you have two months to build the best application possible. Any acceptance is a bonus.

Do schools have access to previous applications as a reapplicant?
