Got my A yesterday! First one as a Canadian! Submitted 08/08 but my one of my reference letters wasn't submitted until mid August. Interviewed 10/25

Congrats fellow Canadian! Do you mind sharing your LM score? Also submitted early July and nothing yet.

I completed by secondary application within the 2 week mark…submitted payment but did not click submit application….how cooked am I?! 😢 I am super upset at myself for neglecting to do such a simple action…

How long did it take you guys to receive your admitted students packet in the mail?

For people that have interviewed already, how did it go? From the sdn interview page it seems people have had mixed reports on the type of questions asked. Like technical or bioethics questions. I don't know how old the info on that page is though.

Seemed to me like the questions asked were specific to each interviewer. Didn't feel like they were reading off of a list of standardized questions at all. When you fill out the interview agreement on AMP, you'll get access to the names of your interviewers. Couldn't help to read up on their credentials a bit.

My interviewer said he had a list of questions to ask me and some optional ones too. They seemed to be pretty normal questions, a mix of the standard interview questions and some bioethics/policy type questions.

Hey All! I'm a current M1 at WSUSOM. Please let me know if anyone has any questions about the school, interview process, or whatever. Happy to help in any way that I can!

Good luck all!
Were you able to get any merit scholarships (if you’re open to answering this)?

Unfortunately, I did not receive any of the merit based ones. They were pretty competitive to get, as they offered the same handful to all 326 of us. However, I did get some sort of need-based scholarship on the way in (but it was not a crazy high amount). Pretty much relying on loans to carry me through the next four years 😎

Is Michigan one of the states where we can claim in-state residency after M1? Please God say yes

To add on what to @Andromedaa said, I remember hearing at virtual second look in late April that they had given out merit scholarships to like 50ish of all 600+ admitted students at that point. There were smaller merit scholarships that we could apply for in early May, but the big ones honestly seemed to be few and far between. Definitely possible to get though, and as people drop their As, merit funds get redistributed accordingly!

Have been hearing some things about the school being on a "downward trend" lately, mainly centered around them losing their partnership with Henry Ford. However, I see on the website that HF is still listed as a clinical partner. Was wondering if you could clarify this and give your thoughts and impressions on the school's future trajectory.

M3 here on rotations. HF is still very much a site we rotate at! It is one of our big 3 sites actually with DMC and St. Johns. So the partnership has not impacted us

Amazing! Would you say you've enjoyed your time at WSU and in Detroit, any regrets? I'm visiting for my first time in January.

As I am only an M1 and still new to the med school grind, I am probably not the most qualified person to speak to the future trajectory of the school. However, as another student on here already mentioned, students still rotate at HFH. I was unaware that a partnership "ended" between them at all considering just how many students that still rotate there. Likewise, students are still able to apply to do research over there through some sort of Wayne-HFH relationship (unsure of the specifics). In fact, I actually just signed a mentorship form with a physician over at HFH through a Wayne elective. So there are still plenty of ways to get involved with the HFHS! 🙂

This is going to sound extremely neurotic lol but about what time in the day did people receive decisions (As/Waitlists)? I feel like I might be getting a decision on Thursday but have another interview that day so was just curious
