How are you guys writing the why us? Are you doing broad stuff that covers all three campuses?

hey everyone, quick question. if I apply to the pap program, would that somehow lessen my chances of getting accepted to the md program?

For the describe our campuses' question, are you guys dropping in which of your activities relate to what is offered at the campuses listed? Or are you being purely descriptive of what they have to offer?
Always relate back to you. No need to simply describe bc the college already knows all about each campus. Tell admin how the things you know about the campus can contribute to your success or what you can offer the campus.

I think I tried to focus on the "perks" of each campus (ex: specific research facility, unique curriculum) etc and tried to show my enthusiasm for each of those perks and how they would benefit me.

First of all, great username. I also did the same by tying in the types of things Chicago and Peoria offered that related to me and what I wanted to do

Since I've only lived in cities I briefly mentioned rockford. I tried to kind of imply that although I have no connection to rural health, I'd still be happy to study there for x and y reasons
last year's thread shows ED applicants starting to get stuff in the last week of august, so i assume RD IIs start early or mid september

Do you think it helps if you have a M1 sibling in UICOM and you are applying this cycle first time. In state applicant. First choice for school. Similar stats as older sibling , but went to different well regarded undergrad institution for premed.
Is this connection worth mentioning to admission committee for interest in attending this medical school ? Thanks.

when I applied I know there was a spot on the secondary to list any uic/uicom affiliations, definitely put it there. I think if there’s a specific program you’ve heard about from the sibling that you’re really interested in then you can write about the connection but keep it brief. I know friends who had parents/siblings go here and aside from writing it on that list they were never asked about it so realistically, any familial connection does not hold much weight.
keeping my anonymity I prefer to not say. However the curriculum is the same across the 3 campuses. It’s hard, but is it harder than any other school? I can’t say. All I know is a lot of people had to repeat the year this year so it’s safe to say some policies need changing. That said, it’s a good name school and you make the most out of the opportunities that are available. Every school has its problems, anyone that says their school is perfect is lying. Just be aware uicom does 7 block exams that are p/f so they are very high stakes but fewer exams to study for compared to other programs. If I had to choose again I’d still go here though
I am also an M2 I am comfortable saying I am at the Rockford campus, I can also answer questions

I wonder if you are from the Chicago area, are you more likely to get Chicago campus? Does there seem to be any rhyme or reason to location?
What was your interview experience like? Was it still MMI and open traditional interview? Is there a group portion to it?
Yes, I am from Chicagoland. Many of my classmates are from Chicagoland, however there are several Chicagoland students at Peoria and Rockford. To save yourself some distress, if UICOM is a top choice, prepare yourself to be placed at any of the campuses. The biggest rhyme and reason to campus placement is campus fit.
It really seems completely random. Not based on scores or where you’re from. Lots of Peoria students are from Chicago suburbs or even Chicago itself and didn’t get it. Lots of students who interviewed in the first round still got Rockford or Peoria. Someone put Rockford as first choice(which is crazy) and got Chicago so it’s very random. Peoria has the most intense schedule of the 3 because they have an early rotation program that starts as M1 which the other campuses don’t have. Also Peoria and Rockford have many more skills verifications and anatomy labs than Chicago so technically they get the better education but it is busier
There is an MMI portion and a tradition interview, I honesrly don't remember much but if you get an interview and you can hold a conversation you are almost guaranteed an A
You have to rank all three campuses 1-3 and obviously most people put Chicago one, but not everyone can go there. Nobody knows how they do campus assignments besides them saying they try to balance diversity across all three campuses. Be prepared to go to your second choice so you don't get your hopes up.
Not an admitted student but ED and I asked the dean about this during our meeting, she told me that they do their best to put you in your top two but they match you based on your application and how you fit in with the unique programs available at each campus

This is for ED not RD yeah? Or both?
The administrators for ED and RD are different, so we can't exactly compare the two tracks, but this timeline seems to line up with last year.
The ED applicants will get an answer sooner (by Oct 1) and if not admitted, will be released to apply to other AMCAS schools.

A question for current students:
I was wondering if you could share the contigencies on your UICOM acceptance. I put multiple planned courses for this semester in my application, but I only need 1 to graduate so I want to drop the others. This is BEFORE the drop deadline for my school, but the other courses were already on my transcript and AMCAS as planned courses. Now I want to drop one of them but I’m scared it will look bad. I was wondering if UIC has a contigency for your application to be dependent on completion of planned courses/activities.
