showed up a few hours later. also just to clarify, if you fill out the matriculation intent form and accept admission under "decsion history", neither of those are binding and just hold ur seat?

thanks, it showed up!! I filled out the form, I hope it's not binding! in the email it said it wasn't so that's what I assumed...
 
I didn’t get an email from nova and I logged into my portal and it says waitlisted on the status. Did anyone else not get an email?
 
Hi. I see everyone is talking about a portal to check their status. I have already finished my interview back in March. The only portal that I know of is the secondary application portal and the regular AMCAS one, which they said they would update me on. Is there another portal I should know of? How do I log in? Thanks.

Interviewed 3/2 and was waitlisted on 4/10 (about 5 weeks later) and I am assuming the decision was made the day prior I got the email, so jade is right I think they make decisions thursday and send them out friday. Really hoping the WL sees some movement soon... fingers crossed and goodluck anyone out there still in Limbo with me.

Assuming there's no delinquencies in turning down excess acceptances, and factoring in that some candidates on this thread may have already turned down their seats (without choosing to convey it), I believe all of you have a fair shot at admission.

I made sure to turn mine down promptly on April 30 (PTE deadline), so I'm rooting for you guys.

Also, NSU MD historically has a moderate-low yield, which means a significant amount of offers don't result in matriculation. If you'd like some insight and/or consolation, then feel free to check out my analysis from much earlier (some of the estimates may not be perfect because I don't have insider adcom information lol):

Hi! Not to butt in, but I can give you an objective outline of WL movement at NSU MD. It's fairly lengthy (and I'm an overthinker), so please bear with me.

Although most of the available information is not perfectly up-to-date, it should give you an idea of what you can potentially expect.

First, here are the "latest" cycle metrics on NSU MD's website:

*Note, the number of total interviews granted slightly varies on MSAR (as of Apr 29, 2024) at 385 instead of 395, which is not very significant.

Next, the estimated number of entrants or matriculants at NSU MD, per MSAR, is 68, split up as follows:
  • Regular MD: 60
  • Baccalaureate/MD: 5
  • Other Special Program: 3
So, you can assume that their final regular MD matriculant pool consists of roughly 60 candidates.

Why I mentioned that was to bring up yield percentage, which is very important to adcoms, indicating how many applicants ultimately matriculate.

Yield% = (Matriculated Students/Total Acceptance Offers Made) x 100

Which, for NSU MD, is = (60/189) x 100 ~ 32%, which is crucial because it tells you that only 1 in 3 regular M.D. candidates accept their offer and choose to matriculate, which makes sense given the cost of the program and the recency of the program's establishment.

Okay, with that out of the way, NSU MD allots 250-300 WL positions, out of which roughly 100 candidates could be offered an acceptance.

Per MSAR, "Waitlist candidates are tiered by the admissions committee. Candidates are selected from the waitlist based upon their tier and overall composition of the class." Now, since the WL at NSU MD isn't transparent, there's no use worrying about your rank.

Finally, with all that information in hand, you can predict your chances of acceptance as follows:
-> April 30 arrives, AAMC traffic deadline activates, applicants narrow choices to 1 A,
-> Assuming NSU gave out roughly 100 acceptances before this deadline, let's say it cuts down to 20-30 (best-case scenario),
-> That opens up WL movement for roughly 35-40 candidates, = = => branchpoint during which you could be offered an A,
-> Next, June 13 comes (CTE deadline), and say the total pool drops to something really low, like 10-15 (best-case scenario),
-> That opens up final WL movement for about 50-60 candidates = = => branchpoint during which you could be offered an A.

That then squarely gives you a 33.33% or 1/3 overall chance of admission, under the absolute best circumstances, between April 30 and July 20 (first day of classes and last day acceptances can be issued).

Once again, I want to stress that this is all probabilistic, and that WL movement may be restricted as a function of high class yield (more candidates choosing to stay at NSU MD after the April 30 traffic deadline AND committing to enroll after the June 13 CTE deadline).

I'm assuming you've received an A; in that case, unless you received your Nova A after April 30, which is the AAMC traffic deadline, then you were delinquent in withdrawing your excess As and narrowing down to one.

AAMC requires that you manually request your acceptances be withdrawn from schools you do not plan to enroll at, by or on 11:59 p.m., April 30. This is crucial because it frees up waitlist movement and clarifies timelines for accepted and waitlisted applicants. Withholding your As, after April 30th, is therefore considered a breach of policy and may weigh negatively on your standings going forward (as med schools communicate with each other). Unfortunately, it also means that schools can rescind your excess acceptances without warning (because they can see your PTE status after the traffic deadline).

However, If you have not received an A, or if you have not requested that your application post-II be withdrawn, then it's probably an administrative error, and you should contact them to rectify the situation.

Lastly, the only other possibility is that it's a R, which means that your application was removed from further consideration, i.e., screened out by the adcom or kicked due to conduct violation (which is unlikely), but I'm also not entirely sure what one's NSU Ellucian portal should display upon receiving a R, as I have only been accepted and then manually withdrew my acceptance.

At any rate, try sending them an email to make an inquiry about your official admission status; that should clear things up.

They never released a decision to me and I haven't received any emails or updates from Nova since I completed my interview back in December. My status suddenly changed to "Withdrawn" within the past three days. They must really be messing up with me. I emailed them but my concern is that everyone says they're inconsistent with their emails. Very unfortunate and disorganized on their end :/

I feel you, and I've experienced the same gap in communication (one of the many reasons I withdrew).

Since you haven't received a decision, though, this might be an administrative error on their part. Primarily because waitlist movement may start soon, but also because they might still be processing acceptance withdrawals from applicants who gave up their Nova As--thus updating their respective portal statuses to "Withdrawn."

If there was a mix-up, perhaps because of an applicant with a similar name who withdrew their A, WL, or application pre- or post-interview, then you should get that cleared up with them because you should still be in the running.

Yes and yes. But to be more specific, my CYMST status is application withdrawn following acceptance*** rather than application removed from consideration.

If I recall correctly, based off last year's thread, people were being taken off the waitlist as early as February. However, this year, again solely based off what I can recall in this specific thread, it seems like they're really going to be waiting until June like they said in their email to us following our interviews. Hope that helps 🙂
 
Some people reported calling admissions on the admit forum, admissions said they’re expecting movement over the next 2-3 weeks and possibly into orientation.

Omg that’s so late 😭😭 most people (if accepted elsewhere) are already starting at other schools by then. Also, I thought admissions never picks up the phone but maybe they do once in a while then

from what i can tell (based on the admit school thread), nova withdrew applications for many waitlisted applicants who were already PTE'ed somewhere else. my guess is they are so behind that most if not all the people they will accept off the waitlist are applicants who have no other acceptances and are thus very likely to accept the offer and attend nova. i assume that will give some folks here some hope but rip to anyone who is PTE'ed somewhere else but preferred nova more

oh fascinating ok, good to know. i guess that puts those of us committed to DO schools that start earlier than NSU MD (or anyone reapplying) in a tight spot
