Exact same boat, except in October I got the “next stage” email. I have no clue where I stand it’s so annoying and Rush is my absolute dream school I want an II so bad 😭

October 24th: "The admissions committee is currently assessing your materials to determine the next steps in our evaluation process. Given that we have received 15,000 applications in this cycle, this stage may require additional time."

January 9th: "The admissions committee is presently reviewing your materials to determine appropriate next steps. Due to the high volume of applications received this cycle, this process takes time. We appreciate your patience as we work to ensure each application receives thorough and thoughtful consideration."

Not sure what any of it means, if anything!
 
I sent an LOCI to them last night that's heavly targeted. I have been in interview consideration since late October ( to my knowledge at least). Would be cruel as hell to be jerked along like this and get rejected.

what is a LOCI? is it just a letter of intent?

interesting, I just checked my email and it says the COMING weeks, not couple. Unusual that they would have two versions of the email at this point,
 
Hey, bit out of the loop but got this email on 1/12. What should I make of it? Should I send any update letters or anything to move me along in the queue?

"We are writing to provide an update on your application status. Your application materials have cleared the review stage and remain under active consideration within our process.

Final determinations, including possible interview invitation, will be made in the coming weeks. We appreciate your patience as we complete our review."
 
I guess this is a question for people who have interviewed but they did share the names of the people who will be interviewing me. Should I look them up and read through their clinical bios/linkedin to ask them questions curated to their specialty or interests? Not trying to creep on people but I also don't know a specific reason for Rush to release the names of those who are interviewing you.

They share the names, but I don’t think it is at all necessary. The point of the interview is for them to learn things about you not for you to ask them questions about themselves. But that’s just my opinion

I did. just to get a understanding of who I'm meeting with. but i didn't actually ask them anything regarding that or formulate my respond to it. they want you to be you! you got this!!!

Is it a good idea to send a letter of interest if I haven't heard back yet? I submitted towards the end of July and got the "cleared review stage" email on 1/12 (OOS no ties)
 
if anyone here has interviewed, would you mind providing some details on your experience? I have heard some conflicting info - some saying that the interview was very chill / conversational ; others saying that it was more MMI-like. Also, were your interviews open or closed file? Thank you!

So there's two separate "interviews" one is an open file which is 1:1. My interviewer looked over my app as we talked but I felt like it was mostly to guide the conversation. He also stated that he had some questions "that the school would like for me to ask" but I got the sense that it was more-so just to provide jumping off points from one conversation piece to the next. That being said he did also ask some ethical based questions as well. He also invited me to use examples from work&activities section to expand on my responses.

Second part of the interview I had a physician & M4 student who went back and forth asking q's that many would consider to be more classical interview questions. I think they each had 3 for me to answer in a 30 min timeframe so if you're doing about or under 5 min a response you should be golden. Not sure if this section was open file but I don't think so.

Overall. Very chill but very long day (9:15 central time to 3:30 central) They have a student Q&A session the night before that is super chill (I was wearing PJs the entire time) and then the next day have more presentations, Q&A sessions (both before & after your actual interview sessions). My advice, re-read your application & secondaries, identify areas of service that are passionate to you, and stay engaged because there is a strong likelihood that whatever type of community service you are interested in they have med-students working on.

Hi everyone! I just received an OOS A today (interviewed 1/14). For full transparency, I am a reapplicant and was waitlisted at Rush during the 2025 cycle. I am incredibly grateful for this A, and I know how long and emotionally heavy this process can be. For those who got accepted, did they call you? If so, was it in the morning/afternoon or pretty late in the day? OR do they just send emails instead.

I didn't receive a call, just an email around 10AM. They called me on the Monday after though to congratulate/ notify me of my acceptance.
