I don't think we do - at least, I haven't been able to find it.
I tried looking too, I couldn't find one either. And originally I also wanted to do a trailer. That's definitely the best bet if you are planning to have lots of pets, especially large breed dogs. However, I have a friend that's a current student and she's heard of a few break ins in the trailer parks, and technically AL is moderate risk state for tornadoes so those would be the only downsides I think. But plenty of people do it!I don't think we do - at least, I haven't been able to find it.
Hey all potential c/o 2019ers!! I have heard auburn classes can be real cliquey, like reallyyyy cliquey.... This worries me and i love auburn but i dont want a class like that! Anyone agree!? Let's make c/o 2019 super supportive and non-cliquey where everyone is friendly and helps everyone else out!! If i sound crazy someone can tell me, and then ill figure out somewhere else to go haha i just hate high school atmospheres and dramatic ppl... And i want to know if i choose auburn that it wont be like that for our class!! One big family is all i want to be apart of, not an immaturely named clique
Ugh dang i reallyyy cannot stand that scene! Guys are so much more laid back and chill--this is why vet school needs more guys to balance out the crazy ppl!I think that's how a lot of vet school classes are, unfortunately. I know my class here is like that and it sucks. It's kind of just what happens when you see the same people all day every day, and the classes are majority girls -_-
This. I think the atmosphere in vet school makes it super easy to gravitate toward cliques, regardless of which vet school you're at. This being said, it does vary with your class a bit, some are more cliquey than others, some are more closer-knit than others.I think that's how a lot of vet school classes are, unfortunately. I gotcha, well that's unfortunate... I mean i get having a group of close friends but no need to nickname yourselves ridiculous things and have a sense of entitlement as opposed to an attitude of "we're all stuck in this together, let's help each other out".. Blows my mind that at our age and our professional level of schooling, girls can still act like that...This. Yes, sometimes the drama makes me think I've stepped back in time to high school... though on the other hand, 99.8% of my class 99% of the time is very approachable and has the "We are in this together." attitude. So for my class at least, the drama is normally between a few people at a time, and usually only really shows up when we are super stressed out.I gotcha, well that's unfortunate... I havent made my full decision yett... but i am leaning towards AU. I feel the same way about living in the trailer, maybe ill do an apartment complex my first year and a trailer second yr? I have a dog too ..except i have a smaller australian shepherd.. idk what apartments are spacious/pet friendly -- if anyone knows?Sooooo for those of you who have accepted your offer - where are you living? Does anyone have any insight into the different areas of town? Slightly nervous bc I'm coming from Chicago and am sooooo unfamiliar w the area. Also I've got 2 big dogs, so finding a dog-friendly place is a must! Tempted to buy a trailer but also terrified by that thought!
Hey to all those current students at auburn.. What kinds of hands on experience can i get my first year? I really want a program that gives that to you right off the bat.. Like physical exams and what not.. Can someone explain what years 1-3 are like hands-on and surgery experience wise? I really would want to go to auburn but i am not sure if the curriculum is hands on enough but i just dont know anything about it! Could someone also tell me, are classes mandatory now?
How many full spays/neuters do you get before 4th year? And are you able to do any other surgeries before then, like terminal or anything?Ohhh, and you start surgery and anesthesia labs second semester of second year, and continue that until clinics. So you spend some afternoons doing spays/neuters on shelter dogs or running anesthesia.
I sent the email yesterday but haven't gotten a reply yet! How quickly did they get back to you? I just want to ensure they got it before I call the other schools, just in case!I didn't get anything "official"-seeming, but Miss Kaye responded with "Glad you will be joining us at Auburn. It will be a great experience." .... personally, I would call the other schools to decline ASAP to open up those spots for other students. Auburn isn't going to rescind your offer for admission, I wouldn't think!
Also - congrats! Looking forward to next year!
I accepted my offer today and heard back from Kaye within an hour. Besides welcoming me to Auburn, she said that she will be busy with Alabama and Kentucky interviews for the next month and that I shouldn't expect to hear from her again until May. I don't know if that just means I won't be hearing from her personally, or that the school will not be sending the class of 2019 any additional information until then. Was your email an informal email from Kaye, or was it more official with information regarding the deposit and what to do next? Either way, I'm so excited to start! After visiting Auburn and touring the beautiful, state-of-the-art hospital, it was by far my #1I got an email today, officially in the class of 2019!
Auburn does not require a deposit of any kind. I believe first payment is not due until the summer.I accepted my offer today and heard back from Kaye within an hour. Do we know what laptop we are supposed to buy yet? Because mine has been on its way out for awhile and is now in the final stages of dying. Really need to replace it, but can't do so until I know what we are supposed to get. 😏

Thanks for the input, Chocl8luva! Where do you recommend living? Any places to check out or to stay away from?
Does anyone know if Auburn has a good exotics program?
@Chocl8luva - do you know approx when we would be receiving more info? For example, what laptop to purchase, when we need to be there for orientation, etc.?
My email was very brief and just said they're still finalizing the class, most likely wouldn't hear from them until after April 15, and there was nothing else I needed to do at this time!I accepted my offer today and heard back from Kaye within an hour. Anybody know when the IS / KY students are interviewing / will find out if they got in? I assume once the class has been set is when we'll hear more ... (Can you tell I'm anxious? LOL!)
I'm a KY resident and I interviewed March 16th. I think all interviews for Alabama and KY residents were within that week of March 16-March 20th. Kaye told us we would be notified by this Friday at the latest, but we will actually probably hear Wednesday! Fingers crossed 🙂
