Campbell University (CUSOM) Discussion Thread 2015 - 2016

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm not sure of the number interviewed But I believe it is 16 interviewees per session and 2 sessions a week from August 17th through the end of April.

Some of those won't be full and some will have people cancel or not show up.

But last year there were 5200 applicants and 162 seats
do you know apx acceptance rate for those who show up to the interview? I heard someone say its very very high at this school but those #'s say otherwise, even if they accept 2 for everyone 1 seat, given how many people they interview (up to 32 a week so I understand from a previous post of yours).

So I think it would work out to roughly 1100 potential spots for interviews. Given vacation for holidays and what now you could round that to roughly 1000 interviews. And 162 seats mean roughly 16% of those interviewed will be accepted.

But the # of acceptances will be higher then the 162. Since not everyone will take their seat.

So I guess they will probably accept 300 students for their 162 seats?

Around 30% chance of acceptance

To those of you flying there for interviews: Is there any shuttle service from the airport to CUSOM?

Are most of you driving or flying there for interviews? Flying + renting a car is just super expensive. It says on their website that they have a shuttle service from Dunn to the campus. Did anyone use this service?

I'm flying in, luckily I have a friend who lives in the area so I'll be able to borrow her car. All the flights for interviews are going to add up quick!

The nearest passenger airport is in Raleigh, approximately an hour from the school. I doubt there is a shuttle.

Charlotte actually, my friend goes to Wake Med so I figured it'd be a good opportunity to visit her too. I'll be a lot closer than Massachusetts haha
LOL WakeMed is a hospital in the Raleigh area so I wouldn't suggest flying into Charlotte! That's 3 hours away!

Nope, no Shuttle. CUSOM is in a small town.

Wake Forest Med School is in Winston-Salem though, and I believe they rotate through the hospital in Charlotte

So I got that "Pre-screen committee" email on July 17th, but I haven't gotten a secondary yet. My stats are above their cutoff (and I'm OOS), so I am not entirely sure what's up. Should I contact them or wait it out? It's coming up on 3 weeks, and I don't know what qualifies as "a few weeks" like in their email lol.

It only took about a week and a half to receive the secondary after that email. Might not hurt to call or email!

I am in the same position. I emailed them about a week ago. They told me that my application was still under review and asked me to elaborate on something in my primary. They also told me that, because of orientation, the Admissions Committee did not meet again until tomorrow. So, I would wait until at least tomorrow to contact them.

If you have concerns you can always call admissions. They are very helpful.

Thanks guys!

I dont like those odds...

The 6000 applicant number may or may not be totally accurate. It's what I've heard, but I don't know if those are actual fully-completed apps (with secondaries and payment, etc.) or if those are just people who filled out the primary and nothing more.

If I remember correctly, last year they told us that the acceptance rate for II students was much higher than 30%, because they do such a rigorous pre-screen. The sentence I remember hearing somewhere was "If you made it to an interview here, we really do want you at our school", or something similar.

Check last year's thread for more info on acceptance rate, but like I said, I think it was pretty high for people who interview.

Got this secondary a while ago but haven't decided if I should submit it. 29 mcat 3.2sGPA/3.4cGPA. What do you guys think?

Finally marked as completed 8/10! I had an issue with an LOR because my DO didn't use official letterhead.

ii this morning!
When I spoke with them about a week ago, they states that they had already received 2,500 secondaries and that they hand screened every single one before sending it off for review, so to just be patient. I was complete around the 15th (I don't remember the exact date).

Good luck to everyone 🙂

Your status is medical student (acccepted)?

Also why do some people get an II call and some get a II email? Any difference? (I got a II email)

oh and YAY!
Interview call comes after the email to schedule your interview

I was accepted by a DO school last week so that's why.
